I have made Japanese Pile Hive. I have 2 boxes with bees, both with bees that populated as a swarm. I have harvested honey from one box. With this leechee and Curry Patta season I hope to get honey. I have liked your idea of fixing wooden twigs to hold the foundation pieces and later the weight of the heavy combs.

Good experiment but looking little difficult also (you can't inspect the hive) and there is no difference between traditional log hive and this one. But this one is also best bees will do their job by their own choice.
