    This is great! Focusing with tics is so hard and it's so true that as the time pressure builds the tics increase

    I've seen this before and I think it's an absolutely perfect representation of having Tourette's. I am a teen who has Tourette's and I recently discovered this channel. I can't wait to watch all the videos

    I like this channel because its teens giving awarness and showing other people what its like to have TS. I dont have it but I have a large respect for people that do. I've done tons of research and stuff on it (even though I'm only 14) I still educated myself on this topic and lots of others. So...lets just say imma follow this channel for a while...or as long as it posts videos

    I’m hoping to start a disability discussion club when school begins again. This would be an amazing example for some of the members who don’t have Tourette’s/other tic disorders. Thank you so much for the example

    It really is inspirational to see how hard it is for someone with Tourette’s but they still go on and keep going.

    I am so glad that I found this! It is so true about how hard it is to focus- especially when my professors discourage my tics.

    this seems like a great way to show a classroom how your tics feel like when you’re telling them about your tics at the start of the year! i’d do this with my class if i weren’t so socially anxious lmao

    I DONT have Tourette’s but I love seeing how we can all relate to these disorders BUT NOT ALL THE WAY….
    I get what she mean about the end of the test but instead of having physical tics my brain will get Scrambled and over think and forget English….
    So I like to see how these disorders all stem from things we can all relate to.

    How comes we don’t see her tic?

    • @lilybee2083
      @lilybee2083 5 років тому +62

      She may be in a calmer state. People with tourettes dont tic 24/7, so she may be calm at point so her tics aren't prevalent

    • @thealicemoon
      @thealicemoon 5 років тому +47

      Also, just because you don’t SEE her tic, doesn’t mean she isn’t too. She may be having tics of the mind. I have those. I have some of my vocal tics in my head. I’ll think the word ‘Chicken’ over and over in my head for example. It’s not a normal thought, it’s a tic.

    • @kaiyanachan9273
      @kaiyanachan9273 4 роки тому +22

      There are a lot of invisible tics like blinking, small twitches, clenching certain muscles, tongue or jaw movements, etc. We also don’t tic 24/7.

    hello, I don’t have Tourette’s but I am having tics I think I’m not sure I’m confused it started a few days ago and it’s getting worse like I yell out words and repeat some even when reading and I poke my leg, the table, and my phone sometimes aggressively and I shake my hand or punch my leg or chest sometimes head but it changes throughout the day and I have face tics which make me insecure also I tic a lot constantly but when I get distracted or something like that I don’t tic but I haven’t told anyone because it’s only been a few days ticking and if I continue should I tell someone because it scares me

    Ok so I don’t tic too much it’s pretty much everyday but it’s not over the top. It gets really bad tho when I’m stressed or anxious but people and family members have said I don’t have it bc if I did I would be doing it a lot more. I wanna know if that’s true or not I didn’t even know what Tourette’s was until about a month ago

      Hi! I know I’m a year late and I don’t know how it’s going with your tics, but mild Tourette’s is very possible!

    • @kayleecendejas4894
      @kayleecendejas4894 4 роки тому +1

      Emjee CB hey it’s all good! & I still have tics. The severity depends on the day honestly. But they’re still everyday. It’s been three years now of constant tics so I’m certain I have Tourette’s. It’s been a journey but an eye opening one as well

    When she said that they have to tap their pinkies when she claps my tic immediately did it. Let’s see if they keep doing it throughout the video when she claps lol
    Edit: It turned into me hitting my leg with my pinky out. Close

    If I have semi involuntary habit of jerking my head in case of stress or relative situation then do I have Tourette?

    • @spidersheep992
      @spidersheep992 3 роки тому +1

      Ik this was a year ago, but having a tic doesn’t mean you have TS. Tourette’s means you have had at least two motor tics and one or more vocal one. Most people have a stress related tic, though, so I wouldn’t be too worried :)

  • @ajpeanuts

    Hi, I'm just a little confused, is Tourettes supposed to be plural, with an 's'. Or is that just with a certain tense of the word. Because I always hear people say "I have Tourettes" not " I have Tourette". Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't sound right to me to say, "showing my friends what it's like to have Tourette". Like it just seems like the singular version of the word. Idk, maybe I'm overthinking haha

      When you are saying tourette/s SYNDROME, it can be said as tourettes syndrome or tourette syndrome. But when you use the name of the syndrome without the WORD syndrome, it should be said as tourettes. If that makes sense...

    • @audreydoyle5268
      @audreydoyle5268 5 років тому +2

      Alana Braddock the name of the person who discovered the syndrome was named Gilles de la Tourette, and it’s called Tourette’s Syndrome because of his name. It’s a possession pronoun, not a plural noun.
      He discovered it after receiving a patient, an aristocratic woman who unconditionally swore and twitched. The original requirements for the diagnosis of TS was coprolalia (uncontrollable swearing and saying obscenities) and noticeable motor tics. In recent years, doctors have realised that Tourette’s is more than just swearing and inappropriate gestures. And it has milder cases, like many other conditions, that go under the radar for years without diagnosis.

    • @audreydoyle5268
      @audreydoyle5268 5 років тому

      My problem is similar, I write e instead of r and r instead of a, I thought it was because I might have dyslexia. Some other letters are also switched.
      It is pretty frustrating, I agree with you on that.
