The mission shown is a coop (vs AI) on the Altis terrain.
Q: What server am I playing Arma games on, who are these people, and can you join?
A: It's the private server for my community, Shack Tactical. As of 2015 we've been around for over nine years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything - we have a fantastic memberbase and it makes for amazing gameplay in Arma and elsewhere. You can read more about us here: www.shacktac.com
Q: What mods does ShackTac use in Arma?
A: I keep a list of them here: dslyecxi.com/sh...
Q: Does ShackTac play mostly coop or mostly PvP/adversarial in Arma?
A: We do a mix of about 70% adversarial and 30% coop - both offer unique experiences and are a blast to play.
Q: How long have you been playing the Arma series?
A: I've been here from the start, with my Operation Flashpoint experience beginning with the demo's release in 2001. I went into the US Marine Corps shortly after (no relation!) and in 2004 I started playing OFP in multiplayer. 2006 saw me found ShackTac, which started in OFP and then transitioned through Arma 1, Arma 2, and finally, Arma 3. I hope to continue this for a long time into the future, as well as share the ride with viewers like you, as corny as that sounds!
Q: What system am I filming all of my Arma and VBS footage on?
A: dslyecxi.com/ab...

Q: I have a question about your channel or content that I haven't seen answered elsewhere - what's the best way to ask it?
A: I maintain a blog where I've answered hundreds of different questions relating to ShackTac, Arma, etc - you can find that here:
blog.dslyecxi.com
I also answer questions in my comments routinely, as I enjoy that aspect of things. If I don't answer, please don't take it personally - there's a lot going on and I can't always get to everything. My channel followers do a good job of answering the more common questions, too, and I thank them for that!

I don't know who said it, but near the start of the landings someone says to "dig around in your pack, find your standard issue testicles". He deserves all of the medals ever
98765zach 10:52
98765zach I appreciate your commendation
98765zach sounded like Kevb0
98765zach That is Boganova. Same guy who plays FAC in this mission.
boganova I love that your accent creates an Eastern and Weastern side of objectives. It brings me inexplicable joy.
Man these video's are brilliant. As someone who used to fly CAS for a clan in the original OFP CWC and Resistance I'm impressed with not only how far this franchise has come but the how sophisticated the communication and teamwork has become. It is a delight to watch.
After that technical video earlier I was expecting the "technical difficulties" joke to pop up. Never gets old.
6:30 and there is that elusive technical crawling at the bottom of the sreen
Did someone really say "dig around in your pack, find your standard issue testicles." That is... actually... amazing. Give that man all the medals.
18:27 That deflection shot was impressive, I don't think Taco even saw it.
***** Dslyecxi's just too good by now! They should strap a sniper river only to his heli :D
"I let him tell the story"...hilarious. Great vid as usual. Thanks!
Dslyecxi man...that shot at 29:02....THAT WAS NUCKING FUTS!!! Could not believe that shit! Hahahahha!
I would pay good money to hear Morbo say "Toblerone-Rolo Combo".
Nice CAS Dslyecxi, sounded like Boganova commanded well.
We are having "Technical" difficulties, Nice Puns
The silence at 18:35 is probably a good indication of how big the smile on ***** 's face is.
Some of your best shooting yet baby....Lovit Lovit
Dslyecxi, is it likely that you will fly the Mil Mi-24P?
I'm not experienced enough to tell if the mods are good enough for shacktac to use, but I'm just in love with the design of that heli and I really like the sounds it has in Arma 3.
HorstEwald Helos that have rotating turrets for the gun tend to be much less interesting to me. I wouldn't rule it out, but it's not one of those roles I gravitate towards.
*****
I know! That's why asked if you would be interested in flying the P :)
The 30mm sounds awesome, but has some wild spread (which I guess isn't an accurate representation of the original). I thought it would be interesting to see, what damage it can do and what kind of veicles it can cope with, since it's heavier armed but less maneuverable.
Combined with it's ability to transport troops made for an interesting vehicle for shacktack to use in my eyes. As a viewer it would be hell a fun at least ;)
***** The 'P' variant uses a fixed-forward facing 30mm cannon instead of a turret. Flies more like an A-10 than a regular helo.
NightmareNinja91 I learned something new today. Thank you XD
+Dslyecxi can u be a black hawk gunner door can u do a game play of that the next time
What kind of FPS are you getting during these missions? I always have problems regarding my CPU bottle-necking (although I have a VERY respectable i7, the Hyper-threading isn't used very well by Arma as most of the processes are all dumped onto one thread)
In the distance at 54:25 ish, and again around 54:45... those structures almost look like you have ATAT's coming in... probably a good time to leave.
Nephilem Von Nephiheim That would be a remarkably awesome surprise to have in a mission.
like how your call sign is reapers. That was my platoons.
Taconic, did you nod off around the 49 minute mark? :)
Do one of the two guys left over in bravo have perspectives?
Seem to be using the GAU a lot lately on your LBs, even in missions like this where you're mostly fighting infantry. Seems like the precision and low dispersion is a detriment in that situation... any reason you've been choosing the GAU over the dual 7.62s?
CubaLibre I don't know precisely why the GAU is being used in this exact mission, but often in these QRF missions the platoon commander has a choice between an AH-6 with a GAU and a "regular" AH-6 with miniguns/rockets. The decision is made by the platoon commander in light of the expected composition of the enemy, and what he would like the helo to prioritize. The GAU is good against vehicles up to light armor like BMDs.
awesome entertainment as always thankyou.
Speaking of troops getting in the bird so smoothly, i saw that on another of ur vids. Is that a custom script?
54:55 awe poor guy :(
What rockets is the MELB armed with? They seem about 499% more powerful than vanilla Pawnee rockets. You are taking out technicals at a radius that would barely damage ei normally.
Dslyecxi you've mentioned your formative experience with Rainbow Six; bringing you towards high lethality shooters and realism. Any thoughts on the latest RS:Siege continuation?
David G ...can't speak for the man himself, but Rainbow Six died looooong ago.
David G As someone who started PC shooters on RS Rogue Spear and then multiplayer shooters on RS3 Raven Shield, I can tell you that the only thing Siege has in common with the series is the name
anyone know how to change the colour/style of the aiming pipper?
What mod is the littlebird from?
How do you get a map like that when you're in an aircraft?
Love you videos btw!
Muglosx Right control + M will open the GPS like that.
Cool thank you.
+Jon Buckles lol. ;) I actually looked up how to do it on google but didn't realize it was the GPS. I thought it was a mod or something.
+Jon Buckles I know man its cool. Yeah it does. I just found out that you can use the GPS even when its not in your inventory in the aircraft. Guess it comes with one.
hey Dslyecxi are you thinking on playing i44 again? t
Alex Mailloux I44's for A2, I wasn't aware that anything was out for A3. I'm not the biggest fan of Arma WW2 mods, but if ST played, I'd probably tag along.
***** i'm sure many of us would love to see more of it, even if it's on a2.

Why does FAC need to communicate with you, when you have a second 152 (or 148 whichever is in this version), that is monitoring the platoon chat?
pkisbest Pilots tend to monitor the platoon radio net so that they have a good idea of what's happening on the ground, but they try to avoid communicating over the platoon net when not everyone needs to hear orders directed at them. Basically, by having FAC relay orders onto the air radio channel, it avoids confusing ground elements, and keeps platoon net clear so that other elements can communicate
Jack Murphy But isnt that the job of the Co-Pilot. Hence why the cohesion between Pilot and Co-pilot would be so important? In a single manned Helo, its understandable, but wouldnt Taconic in this case be communicating, then communicating to Dsl?
You're right in the sense that it is a responsibility of the Co-pilot to keep the pilot informed and relay orders between the Pilot and FAC/Command. However, thats not the main reason behind the multiple radios. If command is trying to give orders to the squads, they need the radios to be clear and as un-confusing as possible, by having their own radio channels, pilot can communicate without interrupting ground forces, and possibly extremely important info/orders that other elements need to hear. Also, while the co-pilot should attempt to keep the pilot informed, sometimes there isn't time, or the co-pilot themselves may not hear something, and when dealing with something as important as CAS or transport, the pilot needs to know whats happening at the exact moment it happens.
The puns. All of them.
Whats the name of the helicopter mod. It looks so realistic and fantastic
Bunt inHD forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?192279-MELB-Mission-Enhanced-Little-Bird
Bunt inHD realistic? you gotta think a bit more on that. but tthe do have a great feel to them
a few questions.
1.) what game mode is this?
2.) how does one go about playing said game mode?
3.) what is the main objective/point of said game mode.
always looking for fun shit to do in arma and this looks like it as long as a buddy and i can form a sniper team.
great video :D
Axerity | Tripify Read the video description to answer most of your questions
Axerity | Tripify
1) Custom, ShackTac creates new missions for itself all the time
2) Shactac's missions are in-house, you can't get them
2b) Trust me, it's not the mission anyway
When you're playing with randoms online (or a smaller group of friends) you'll be better off playing a more suitable mission anyway
.
3) you can read the briefing at 0:16, everything else is only for the mission creator to know.., they play the experience, not the mechanics
But yes, read dslyecxi's page to understand more, it has many nice articles about shacktac and their philosophy
Dslyecxi what mod are you using for the crosshairs?
SBXmonster Something I made for them.
Very well done sir I approve. Also ty for answering it's nice to see a content creator giving a damn
***** where can i get that? it makes aiming so much easier than the black dot.
***** That's no crosshair, it is just some gum you stuck to the wind screen.
how the hell did you see that technical?
pandashu 4k monitors bro
pandashu Between Dslyecxi's eyes and Taconic's/Kilroy's ears, nothing gets missed.
Dslyecxi actually plays at just over 1440p, not 4K, according to his specs. But the game looks so much crisper when it's not compressed by UA-cam into a meaningless mass of similarly-colored pixels. The videos have gotten a lot better recently though. If you try watching one of the videos from, say, 4 years ago, you can't see shit at all - even when people get pretty close!
are the guys on the ground commanding ai troops or other players?
Andy Ponsonbreast Other players.
This looks great fun im getting into arma more and more. How does one get involved in something such as this? Do you take British players? ☺️
Andy Ponsonbreast The description. Read it.
Taconic sounds ridiculous when the video is set to 0.5 speed.
nvader6 D:
Taconic No Taconic never sounds funny. He is a stone cold killer.
Taconic I meant ridiculous in the "This Funky dude has a Groovy way of coordinating death from above" form, of course. Wasn't Jiving you.
nvader6 What does he sound like at 2.0 speed? : ]
***** .50 cal passing overhead, or tank shells flying around used to sound really intimidating in Ace 2,
Is it something you miss in Arma 3?
Philip Voitovich I know you asked Dslyecxi but I do miss it made it easier to tell how screwed you were.
katarjin particularly when you fly an aircraft, you don't wan't anything to with a .50 cal.
***** Is Shacktac going to release a sub-mod for MELB which includes these awesome CAS windshield markers? The original MELB black marker dot is very hard to use and often quite inaccurate in combination with Track IR.
*!!!*WARNING THIS COMMENT CONTAINS AN OPINION*!!!*
Dyslexi, ARMA 3 is set in 2035, so why do you use mods which don't add anything but, old, out dated and sometimes worse tech than is already in the game.
E.G. the little bird seen in said video has 1 minigun, 1 rocket pod and a laser designator (which wasn't used at all aside the copilot spoting which didn't matter seeing as you spotted basically everything by your self).
But the AH-9 Pawnee has 2 miniguns, 2 rocket pods and looks so much sexier.
Same with the Black Hawk - Ghost Hawk, Humvee - Hunter so on.
TY for reading hope you don't take this as a stab and more like a question.
Halliwedge Because less is more bro. Its the same as us removing Magnified optics from our games on our standard weapons. The more Analogue you make it the more fun it tends to be on a skill level.
As for the date of the game, its only set in that date if you use the default equipment, as theres little to the actual maps that lock it to a timeframe. We think of Arma more as a sand box than a set universe.
Halliwedge the era which you play in is just personal choice, i think that shacktac likes the current era the most (or probably more so because that's where all the modding efforts have went) I think that the ah-6 he used because of the superior 'dashboard' if you get what i mean to the vanilla one, also the vanil mingus have such a tight grouping of bullets it's harder then it should be to hit infantry (imho)
also shacktac likes to go low tech because its more challenging, you notice they almost never have magnifying optics on their guns
btw Dslyecxi what mod i that ah-6 in
boganova Really, the buildings around the towns look like they're from the late 1800s, when you get inside. They're very simple and the houses are all filled with old style furniture, so using the older 20th century hardware makes more sense with how the game looks anyway.
That, and, the "futuristic" vehicles and weapons in the game act just like the 1960s era ones did in A2 and A1, so it doesn't make much difference. Without simulating everything fully, DCS style, you really don't change anything aside from aesthetics and weapon loadouts, and I tend to prefer the older styles of aircraft better, anyway.
Halliwedge Lower tech is generally more interesting and plays more to the strengths of the engine.
Alright
god i'd hate to be Dyslexcis Co-pilot, he flies low, and doesn't talk, i'd think he is dead and prob bail xD
