People were mesmerized by him then...I’m completely transfixed now. I don’t remember my mother ever talking about him but his stage act is so different. Even though Liberace stole his act, and Prince channeled his mysterious stage persona, he managed to fool the system 😏 and get his slice of 🥧
Oh, Wow! I remember seeing him as a kid on TV while mom ironed in the sweltering Texas heat. He was awesome, I was 5 and mom kept ironing away. He made her awful task bearable. I’m 75 now
Beautiful, Korla and so very talented ,what a gem!!!Who cares where he is from let's appreciate his beautiful gift of the universal language of music that he imparted to us all!!
They play his music at Frankies Tiki Bar in Vegas all the time. Really fits the motif. Man o man did the moms in my neighborhood love this guy. One hell of an act.
Dive Bar Casanova one hell of an imposter yet I hear no one praising the music of Ravi Shankar who was actually an Indian sitar player & one of the greatest as well!
Dive Bar Casanova at least Ravi wasn't LYING about being Indian he didn't have to cuz he WAS Indian dude wake up this man was a BLACK man & he was too shamed to admit it!!!
YOU FUCKING MORON! It does not matter if he was Indian or a fucking alien his ability and talent is undeniable. No on is praising Ravi? What a loser you are. Plenty people praise Ravi but is this the place to do it? Hell no! PLUS there are many out there who can play better and sing better than Beyonce but have NO KIND OF PRESENCE WHICH IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT. Are you really that concerned that he was not Indian? 90 percent of celebrities don't tell their real age or market themselves as younger; are you upset with them too? LIBERACE masqueraded as a STR8 man for years what about that did that lessen his ability. Yeah we see THE REAL YOU AND IT STINKS!
I had a unique experience. I was a artistic roller skater(dance skating) and around 96 i skated on a tuesday night at Moonlight Roller way in Glendale Ca. It was a regular session that also had an exotica/Lounge group attending. The regular organist stopped playing and braught on korla. I emmediately recognized him from Ed Wood and reading about him in the Lounge magazine(at record stores). During the session I was practicing my Tangos-Paso Dobles-Foxtrots and Waltz's. The Lounge people thought I braught in for the party. I regret not talking to Korla.
A RARE TREAT, INDEED! I was an artistic roller skater from back in the day in Va. and my teacher would have records of Korla Pandit ….. I KNEW HIS music sounded familiar… Lol
He must have seemed so exotic in the repressed fifties. Like Valentino of the small screen. No wonder he caused a sensation. Having him never speak was a touch of genius.
WOW always heard various versions of this song never knew the title Dont Like At His EYES HAHAHAHAHAHAHA just teasing that Organ gives it a "Je ne sais quoi" *i like, I Like*
I remember getting literally knocked out of watching a bit of hoody doody with a rap to the head by my grandma. Bang now you can listen to good music! No wonder I love the blues!
He obviously looks extremely East Indian. Maybe he was adopted or something.. His face , those eyes, his nose and even lips have that stereotypical East Indian quality to them.
In 1921, John Roland Redd was born in St. Louis, Missouri. His father, Ernest Redd, was an African-American Baptist pastor. Redd's mother, Doshia O'Nina Johnson, had Anglo and African ancestry. Both parents were descended from African-American enslaved persons. Redd was one of seven children and had light skin and straight hair By the 1940s, Redd had moved from the Midwest to Los Angeles for more opportunity. His older sisters, Ruth and Frances, had already moved there by 1939. Redd used the name "Juan Rolando" to gain a job playing the organ on the Los Angeles radio station KMPC. Passing as a Mexican allowed him to join the Musicians Union (which was not open to African-Americans) and opened up additional opportunities for studio and club work. Redd and his wife, Beryl, created a new entertainment persona for Redd's use. They thought Redd could have exotic appeal by passing as an Indian because most Americans did not know much about people from India. Beryl designed the makeup and clothing Redd used, and Redd took the name "Korla Pandit". He developed an elaborate history and continued to add to it during his career. He stated that he had been born in New Delhi, India, to a French opera singer and an Indian Brahmin government official. Supposedly raised in an upper-class Indian household, Redd claimed to have studied music in England as a child, arrived in the United States at age 12, and studied at the University of Chicago. Redd used the Korla Pandit persona-in public and in private-for the rest of his life.
@@nic-tv4090 But is the "private" persona gonna work in the bedroom?...I mean, did this dude actually come to believe he WAS his alter ego?...that would freak me out, if a family member went to that extreme, let alone a romantic interest!...Strange!
@@curbozerboomer1773 I think those close to him knew, but this was before the internet and checking up the story was hard, heck, he said he was a brahmin, but he wears a turban like a sikh, adorned with a jewel none the less. People where in love with the idea of this exotic prince from a thousand and one nights.

Korla Pandit lives on in his beautiful haunting music.
He must have seemed so exotic in the repressed fifties. Like Valentino of the small screen. No wonder he caused a sensation. Having him never speak was a touch of genius.

I guess this guy could hypnotize people and all these girls and moms had a crush on him good for him
An interesting show-biz act that only could have happened in America, California and in that era. An organ player with a funny hat who never spoke.
Awesome music an he's eyes....
I tried those looks out on my old lady, but they didn't work
you cannot "try"
you must "be" the look.
(and no i did not type that in yoda's voice, but in morgan freemans voice.)
🤣🤣Silly woman watching this 😂😂
I been hypmotized!
Cultural appreciation
Yes what black people had to do to escape white racism and white supremacy
dud was cute
The title is, of course, "Jealousy" (Jalousie), not "Jealous Eyes"
hey dunno if you're still alive but what's the first song's name ? It ain't jalousie

In his case he was beautifull rather then handsome
He did sort of give off a bisexual vibe, right!
