  • Happy Monday everyone! Today we re-vist the Parker Semi Slant razor. What a glorious return to one of my previously favorited razors. If you're looking for a new safety razor and have a budget of $30, or you simply want to try a slant razor... give this a go! It's very smooth and efficient, well made, and superb bang for your buck. Colette Classic CC2 Citrus Basil Barbershop is subtle and excellent as usual, and the DS Cosmetic badger brush is amazingly soft and easy lathering.
    Possible changes to the giveaway;
    In an attempt to possibly keep the Shave Dad razor without going back on my word, I am offering up the Gamechanger .68p on the Super Knurl handle as a possible choice to the winner.
    Check out our new "Warped Tub" soaps on the website. These are fully functional soaps, but were poured slightly too hot in the tub, so the tub warped. Visual defect, but the CC2 formula is too soft to sell as standalone pucks like the CC1, and I didn't want to just throw them away! Some people out there must be like me, and would rather save the 33% off retail price, and just deal with the uglier tub!

    The semi slant is still my top non adjustable slant. It’s one of the only razors I can manage a 2 pass shave that doesn’t irritate me.

      @@Stubblemeetssteel it really is such an overlooked razor, and for the price it’s unbeatable!

    Great Monday shave, Jake! The slant razors seem to always agree with you. I most often have to do the Gilette slide on the neck that kind of mimics a slant. I have been looking at them and still have my eyes on the Rex Sentry in the future.
    Today I used the Aylsworth Kopparkant with a Gilette Nacet and the cc2 Spiced Orange and Bay Leaf, which is now my favorite soap! I have been primarily face lathering and the bowl has been collecting dust. There has been debates about conserving soap with the bowl, but I haven't noticed a difference.
    It sucks that you can't install a window unit. Until you get a split unit, you could try a swamp cooler or a DIY ice box/fan setup. An AC unit is mandatory for Florida and I couldn't live without it! Maybe some cold drinks will mitigate the heat too.
    The giveaway is your discretion so I don't think it's wrong. You're giving something for free and who would or should complain about it! The subscriber count is quickly approaching and maybe by the end of the year 1k!
    Hope you and Alison had a great 4th of July! Have a great week Jake!

      Thanks Vaughn! You're right about the slant razors suiting me well, and I think it's the same reason GEM and AC razors will suit me well. They have better blade rigidity, though the slants may have a slight advantage due to the "slice" to handle my coarse hairs. That being said, you should try the Parker Slant before the Rex. Aggression levels sound similar, and the Parker is $30 so it's not a bad way to test the waters with slant razors before diving right in like that!
      I'm glad you like the new scent! It's a good one, though I did pick up on the slight licorice scent you were mentioning last time xD I tossed that note right out with the bath water, so I didn't ruin it for myself, but I also happen to rank it highly. It smells great, and I nailed the fragrance load again so it's the perfect strength for me.
      That Kopperkant is really appealing with its lower price point, but as you mentioned weeks ago, it's on the more mild side (supposedly). It shaves smooth I imagine, but I can't help but wait until the + plate comes out for the kopperkant, or just pull the trigger on the big boi.
      Thanks again for all the support, and I think I'm going to stick with "giving the winner the choice" when it comes to the giveaway. I think the GC is objectively the better choice since someone can then go and get whatever plate they want, or stick with the .68p. Either way, the Shave Dad is NOT off the table, simply an option now instead of the default.
      Thanks for the support and I hope you did as well!

      @@ColletteClassic I may try that Parker Slant before I get the Rex. As you said, $30 isn't too much to try a slant razor.
      I don't mind licorice, but maybe some people do 😅 I only pick it up if I do a quick whiff of the soap though so it probably won't be noticeable to most people, unless you have a dog nose like me 🤣
      The base Kopparkant is mild, but the current variation on razor emporium has the plus listed and that one is the .99 gap with positive exposure. It is also cheaper since they always have codes. I can't post it here cause they may delete my message again! Well, try this split up, it 's "shop" and then the number "15".
      You bit yourself in the foot cause I'm sure that everyone and their mother will pick the shave dad razor 😄
      Most of my immediate family was out of town so I just had some bbq and played some games haha! I respect the holiday, but all the stops are usually for Christmas and New Years!

      I swear, even at $30, it's still fighting tooth and nail with my "mid range" razors. I don't know about how well it stacks up with the "premium" category, but a good shaver is a good shaver.
      It's ok if they do, as I have no need for the Shave Dad razor, despite it being very nice. It's just another piece of the collection to me, and I'm sure someone else will use/appreciate it more!
      I'll keep that in mind with the Kopparkant, but another line of thinking makes me wonder about just pulling the trigger on the ss or ti. The SS and Ti are made by Yates, while the copper, and the apex razors are all made in hong kong right?

    • @vaughnb1244
      @vaughnb1244 2 місяці тому

      @@ColletteClassic Yes, the Apex and Kopparkant are manufactured in Hong Kong, I think by a jewelry manufacturer. That's why it is at that price point. The Drakkant SS and Ti are made by Yates. If I compare them, the Apex wins in performance vs the Kopparkant, and the said is same for the Drakkant Ti. With each price hike, it gets better, but the value is better when going from the Kopparkant to the Apex. The Drakkant Ti was $300, $380 with the stand!

    I recommend Mini-Splits. Long story short, they make the main floor of my house livable, epically in the summer. A bit of an investment but worth it in my opinion.

      Any experience installing them yourself? I see you can buy them for like $500 online, whereas the heat pump and HVAC companies near me want to charge thousands for their units. I only need them for AC since we have a brand new boiler as of last year.

      @@ColletteClassic I don't. I bought Fujitsu and paid for installation, my neighbor does it professionally and did my project on the side. It did not look that hard though. I probably could have done it myself. I'm sure some youtube research and reading the manual (assuming you can get the PDF online) would give you a good idea if it's a project you want to do yourself.

    #keepitclassic Jake, great video regarding the Parker Slant. I never considered using a slant, but your review and description may have sold me on it! Also I just got your Citrus Basil Barbershop and Smoked Cedar/Leather about a week ago and they are the CC2 versions. I have only tried the Citrus Basil Barbershop one so far and WOW the lather it creates is so pillowy and fluffy plus cushiony on the face it is amazing. The scent is wonderful and reminds me of my Dad's barbershop when I was a kid in the 70/80s. It really makes for a great shave. Thank you! 😊👍

      Love it Sam, that's exactly what I was going for! I true classic barbershop scent, with just a hint of something different to keep it interesting. I'm glad you like the base, which means you'll like the other scents as well.
      I think everyone should try a slant razor, and the Parker is a great place to start. It's pretty much the definition of "medium" in aggression, and it's only $30. If you love it, keep it or consider an upgrade. If you hate it, then sell it or give it to a friend.
      Thanks for the support, and good luck in the giveaway! You gonna go for the Shave Dad or the Gamechanger if you win?

    What blade is comparable to fly deer ?

    • @ColletteClassic
      @ColletteClassic  2 місяці тому +1

      I used to think Personna Comfort Coated, but in the Apex I find the Personna to tug a bit more. Maybe approaching a Gillette Wilkinson Sword in sharpness? I’ve also had near identical results when using a dorco right after the flydear. Sorry for the unscientific answer!
