  • Hey everyone! In this video I show you the difference sound deadening made in my van conversion, what I bought, how it works and why I did it.
    The sound deadening is from Dodo Mat, they have a vast website at deadening.co.uk
    but this is the exact product that I bought from them via Amazon - amzn.to/3tlMFnB
    The roller is from Toolstation and was £3.58
    You can get a very similar one from Amazon here - amzn.to/30I6kSM

    Thanks for the video. Sound deadening is the first thing I do in my vans. Insulation and carpeting also make a huge difference. Our Renault Trafic LWB van is very quiet after conversion. I like the natural way you present your videos. Have a great day.

    Thanks for the video, I am still on the fence about sound deadening, as whilst it does sound better right after it's done, surely once you get all the insualtion and lining and more softer materials in the van, I am sure you will have plenty of sound deadening. Would be interesting to see what the pro conversion guys do? One roll for £50? might be worth a go

    I can hear the difference but when you have actually converted the van and have wood lining, curtains, seating/ bedding etc. I don't think that ring will be there when you close the door. Does the sound deadening work in any other way to reduce noise outside? I'm not 100% convinced.

      I think it definitely does going over bumps in the doors and panelling of the Movano that just isn’t the same with insulation and wood panelling, unless you’ve really crammed thick celotex into every space. My insulation in the doors is just partial plastic bottle and then really light spruce cladding (there a drainage channels in the doors incase the black trim on the outer of the van leaks, so I didn’t want to risk mouldy insulation). The sound deadening is really heavy and that’s was dampens the sounds going through the metal. It’s definitely a personal opinion though and totally not necessary if you’re on the fence. It will add a little weight too which is definitely something to consider

    Of course it's worth it, would sound like a tin can being kicked down the road otherwise.

      😂 by the time a van conversion is insulated and cladded that acts as a good amount of sound deadening in itself so a lot of people choose not to buy proper sound deadening

    • @vanvistas
      @vanvistas  7 місяців тому +1

      Haha! I think it definitely does make a difference, but I also think once the conversion is done and all the insulation and cladding and furnishings etc are in, they will also massively dampen the sound while driving

      @@vanvistas oh yeah that's a great point. I've just got a van that was for disabled peeps so every wall has a window which is nice but I think I have to insulate over the top 🤷. Anyway big fan of you and your videos!

    I don't understand sound dampening at all! Nor can I hear the difference, sorry. I thought that silver stuff was to make a gap between the van and yoga mats to create air flow? Great channel tho.

      I’ve found the Movano panelling to be a lot thinner than some other vans. It has quite a large payload too, so perhaps that’s why? To keep it lighter? I find that sound really travels through the thin metal especially in the doors over bumps. And the sound deadening did make a difference! If your cramming your van with thick celotex, then perhaps it’s not necessary. I only went with really light insulation. A lot of people add it to the roof to dampen rain noise too, but it’s not so bad on fibreglass and I’ve got solar panels up there too
