100,000,000 / 100 is 1,000,000 NOT 10,000

I had the same thought but then realised:
1,000,000 is the total names with "John".
To find the 1 in 100 of those who are "John" AND "Smith" you do 1,000,000 /100 to get 10,000 as the answer.
