    Hello ASL Heroes!!!
    Hey, I could really use your help.
    If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small (or more if you can afford it) donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
    You can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here right now and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

    Every little bit helps so much!
    Thanks!

      Ever "Hear" of the term... 'its never too late?" well, I am 54 and I am NOW learning ASL. Mainly because my daughter is studying it 4yrs now and I am so interested in learning so I can communicate with her as well as locals. Because of your Videos Dr. Bill I am able to enjoy learning, and practicing. My daughter is very good at ASL but not good at teaching me. hahaha. I do hope to purchase some from your lifeprint site to help you during these trying times. I may even buy the 4 semesters instruction! I will check it out now. Thank you for what you do! Do not stop. You are by far the most interesting teacher as well as funniest ! I love watching you teach. Thank YOU. Stay well.

    Yay, it's Katelyn! 🖐️ 🖐️
    I mean, all of the students have been great, but she just seems like such a genuinely good person; from what we see in the videos anyway. ☺

      I'll tell ya, when I came across this previously unpublished video in my archives it was like running into an old friend. (Due to the pandemic I've been going through old hard drives and seeing what gems I could dig up).

      I've watched and re-watched so many of the Katelyn and Sarah ones over the last couple years as a beginner, it always makes me smile when they pop back up! Thank you for continuing to upload when I'm sure the pandemic threw a huge wrench into your semester!

    Hi! I've been following you off and on for a few years now! I am not fluent in ASL I am self-taught I'm thinking about going to school for it. I love the way how you actually show how to do the signs multiple times over. I don't have the speed of the video slowed down at all and I can still understand some signs that I'm not familiar with. Thank you so much you don't know how appreciative we are to have such a fortunate professor of your caliber to be teaching on UA-cam.

    I am so grateful to you @billvicars. My neighbor is deaf and I realized I couldn't properly greet them or connect with them when I passed them recently on a walk. Your videos are helping me to get started to communicate better with this family and are a huge comfort in a stressful time. You are so good humored and thoughtful in your teaching...it's the highlight of my day to learn with you and have a product, peaceful and connective thing to partake in every day. *Thank you*

    Hi Dr. Bill - not sure if you are still monitoring, but super appreciate these videos and loving learning from your channel!
    Can I ask a quick question? How would you sign 'lost' as in "I am lost in the woods". Also - is there a sign for "I am training for a triathlon" or is it the same sign as practice? Much thanks!

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  Рік тому

      I prefer this method:
      ua-cam.com/video/HTCpKYCGS-M/v-deo.html
      But you will also see people do it this way:
      ua-cam.com/video/SMifZWJv3ws/v-deo.html
      Also see: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/l/lost.htm
      If telling a story about being lost in the woods you might see someone use a "Classifier-1" hand to represent someone wandering aimlessly in the woods (with an accompanying confused / lost facial expression).

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  Рік тому

      To sign "training" just establish context and then use the sign "practice" to mean training.
      Some people might use a "T" hand for the dominant hand when signing "practice" to turn it into "training" but I recommend just relying on context without initializing the sign.
      See: ua-cam.com/video/-Jp--G6K7wA/v-deo.html

    Dr Bill Vicars, you've been a wonderful teacher of ASL but you could be of even greater help if you could arrange your lessons in orderly manner. For example, your Lesson 5 is followed by Lesson 16 and then comes Lesson 19. Can you? I will pray for your long life and prosperity.
