JQL query sucks big time. It' the worst scripting / searching or whatever language I've ever encountered and I'm talking in over 40 years of coding. It is full of inconsistencies and ambiguities. Been using Jira for 15 years and I still cannot create a functioning query without much gnashing of teeth, and even then it likely doesn't do what I want.

I would say, it depends on your experience, but lot of people are using and finding JQL better.
