3:36 I don't know why, but I kinda love that little moment when the giant punches the woman and we get a brief moment where after the blood splashes on his face, he casually gives the other guy a sidelong glance without saying a word. I don't know why. It's just . . . kind of eerie to me.
15:44 that sort of theme was explored in an old sci-fi short story called "Shambleau" by C.L. Moore, in it a man is seduced by a vampiric creature believed to be super ancient, they are a rare species that came from deep space etc, kind of like this. I don't really know if you can really "ruin" vampire lore, it really depends on what you read and what you like, I suppose.
Definitely. The worse part about zombies or zombie related stories is that it never really is about them at all, and the stories involving them are almost always the same.
I love how he thinks that this anime will bother people who enjoy the vampire mythos when something like twilight exists. This is probably a fucking masterpiece compared to that shit.
Buffy the vampire slayer vampires aka what Joss Wedon had in mind before he made the show, 30 days of night and some of the clive barker vampires from his books are badass, you would not want to fuck with those guys.
Same! Vampires maybe overexposed, but nowhere near as bad as zombies...plus vampires have way more to them. They are essentially just humans with demonic powers. Zombies are just shambling corpses.
15:36 Hate to tell you this, but Anne Rice had already revealed in her novels that vampires were created by extraterrestrials during prehistoric times.
I only really got the idea of why Twilight made Vampires the way they made them (Other than being the dumbest shit ever, because Meyer can't do worldbuilding to save her life) after seeing different interpretations for things like the Japanese Oni. That said, Vampires as wussy and whiny immortal pretty boys feigning being bad boys, or as savage animals mindlessly hungering for blood never really hit it off with me. Vampires, to my ideal, are more like Man's perfect predator: hiding among us, using our psychology to trick and steal us into the night for feeding, sociopathic and deranged from immortality, and, of course, the Aristocratic feeling of superiority above the human droll. They are not monsters, but Demons made flesh who use humans in the shadows to get the best outcome for their needs for survival: domination of the human race.
Frankly, these alien vampires are still much closer to traditional vampire mythology than sparkly vampires. - drinks human blood: check - some kind of magic ability: check - does not sparkle in sunlight: check That's pretty much all of it. Some kind of aversion to sunlight (burns not necessary) and being explicitly a walking corpse would have been preferable but after Twilight ruined everyone's fun I've learned to be less picky.
I feel like video games are the last remaining medium that portrays vampires as remotely intimidating and power-hungry, with some exceptions. For example, in Skyrim (with Dawnguard expansion), being or otherwise fighting against vampires is so much fun. You sympathize with Serena, but you still want to kill the others especially in the early game when they're somewhat challenging. They are perfect villians and formidable allies, not some whining emo heart throbs
You should read the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. It's a vampire story with vampires that are actually scary horrific parasitic monsters, not rejects from "All My Children" with a mild sun allergy. And it has psychically gifted government spies. ESPionage Fucking seriously.
W.I.N.G (Western Intelligence Network Group) idk, i feel they had something good but they got lazy at the G, could've used something else like: Garrison, Gathering, Guardians, etc... hell for that matter have my acronym here: We Invented Ninja Games
Vampire Wars (ヴァンパイヤー戦争 Vanpaiyā Sensō) is an original video animation based on a novel series by Kiyoshi Kasai and published by Kadokawa Shoten, produced by Toei Animation and directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi. MrGMoney1944 It is rather difficult to find a physical copy of. But the whole thing's on youtube so only the most dedicated of collectors would want an official release of it lol
i like how mr cookie bats smg and pistol is drawn realistically like the real life gun its based on (m1911 and pps-43) while the other guns everyone else have look like extremely generic half-assed drawings of real life guns
You're overthinking this on some points, like the whole dog poop thing. And to me, sneaking back into the mansion to accept the job made a lot of sense because by doing that, Cookie is now in a position of power and is able to negotiate better things than just not being framed for murder. And the aunt knew about the fancy science stuff because she had the report from the doctor, like comeon this movie is silly on a lot of levels (and definitely rushed considering it's based on 11 novels) but it's not THAT bad
I cant lie, even though I love vampire fiction and mythology, the vampire fandom pisses me off. I cant even say Im not a fan of dracula (the charecter, not the book) with out the fandom getting all ignorant. they often say shit like "Dracula is the only vampire you need to know" or "If it werent for Dracula you wouldnt have Blade" or I am not a fan of the old batman tv series, rabid batman fans will say "if it werent for that series...you wouldnt have dark knight." or I that I dont love the 1987 TMNT series, the rabid fanboys (who ignore the comic book's existence) that I wouldnt have known about the comic or the 2003 series let alone the first 1990 film Rabid ffanboys and Fangirls: please chill the fuck out oh man the 1990s anime, the English language is dubs are so bad with the swearing that its awsome!
darkservantofheaven I too was disappointed by how much Dracula was hyped by friends and media, the guy dies in such a weak way and provided very little challenge outside of long hours for the characters work. He was underdeveloped and overall underused. As for the fandom, vampires are often an allegory for some sort of sexual fringe or lust, so it's only natural that the fanbase is mostly composed of edgy teens and hormonal tweens. There are rare gems though that use them for allegories for other things, like the human will to survive, the human will of destruction, the hell that is immortality, and many other more intelligent themes.
max larsen The problem I have with dracula is that as villain, hes not very interesting. the only "good" dracula for me was Gary Oldman, it gave the count charecter. Bela Legosi is the reason for so many outdated stereotypes. Christopher Lee (while bad ass, RIP) his Dracula is akin to Jason Vorhees in my opinion. A force to be reckoned with, but not a true character. Chrisopher Lee himself even said, it felt like the movies were written first and Dracula was thrown in later. Hence Why Dracula barely has any dialogue in the Christopher Lee films. (and to be honest, I never liked Jason Vorhees, hes nowhere near as interesting as Freddy or Pinhead.) I'm just wondering, does anyone know why he only reviews the dubbed versions? Not that it really matters but there's a huge difference between dubbed voice acting and original Japanese voice acting.
Nate yeah, he hates subs. his reason being that it distracts you from the detail and atmosphere of any scene its in. hes got a good point. it just feels natural to listen rather than read dialog. he goes into detail with a later review.
I have to disagree you. I'm a huge of vampires, however I do like different turns of vampire lore. Even something as outlandish as this one. But I still like your take on review these cheesy anime that I use to grow up with. By any chance can you Blue Seed or Voltron?
The big brute sounds exactly like Dr. Claw, and that impression! Bravo, Sage!
You'd think it would make more sense for his code name to be "Helsing" rather than "bat" as he is literally hunting "dracula"
I know right? That's what I said!
Or at least Harker if they didn't like Helsing.
KiwiNinjaBlast either way, they both sound better than bat. Almost sounds like batmans nickname "the bat"
Cookie Helsing?
Bethany Smith bird of Hermes is thy name eating my wings to make me tame
3:36
I don't know why, but I kinda love that little moment when the giant punches the woman and we get a brief moment where after the blood splashes on his face, he casually gives the other guy a sidelong glance without saying a word.
I don't know why. It's just . . . kind of eerie to me.
Alien Vampires feasting on human energy? That's "Lifeforce"! God I love that film!
6:57 That's very underhand. How very disappoint Mr Cookie Bat. :D

MR.CookieBat...Sounds Like a Halloween Themed..Ice Cream Treat...A
How can anyone think “bat” is cool when you could go with some variation of “Van Helsing” or heck even “Harker?!”
4:02
I didn't know Guts from Berserk was guest staring in this anime.
.........I'm Batman
I would've chosen the codename Abraham, points for whoever gets the reference
van helsing!
Gungelion Why not Morris? The bastard did help chop the guy up a bit after all, and died for the cause.
Gungelion Abraham Van hellsing the original vampire hunter.
EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT REFERENCE! Anybody who's heard of anything having to do with Dracula mythology has heard of Abraham Van Helsing!
The One and Only Michael McCormick Actually there is a significant number of people who do not know Van Helsing's first name
RIP in peace Benzaie.
Cookie: Seeing as they're using "Dracula," I think I'll use
Me: Hellsing?
Cookie: Bat
Me: …
Me: …
Me: What the fuck, bro?
Well, yes. Though, both are really fucking obvious.
I agree. Any vampire related name would be too obvious; it's just that my immediate thought was "Hellsing."
No, just the name as it is familiar among vampire lore.
Its Van Helsing, with just one L
After watching the video, the thumbnail suddenly makes more sense. Cookie bat XD And that Dr. Claw impression was spot on x3
I prefer traditional vampires over zombies. But that's just my opinion. Probably because I'm just sick of zombies at this point.
Me too.
Definitely. The worse part about zombies or zombie related stories is that it never really is about them at all, and the stories involving them are almost always the same.

Hate to tell you this, but Anne Rice had already revealed in her novels that vampires were created by extraterrestrials during prehistoric times.
I don't think the "Amel was created by aliens" thing came until much later in the series. Post-Memnoch the Devil, at least.
Came back 6 years later to say I was right, the Replimoids and Amel's semi-extraterrestrial origin wasn't revealed until 2016.
How did doctor claw skit not make top 10 moments? THAT was classic

How did anime survive the 90s?
Answer: Bewbs and violence with a teenage target audience

magic the gathering has some prefect ones
+Korin "the crimson fucker" one is TFS, not the original... both are awesome though
If you google blood crystal, it actually is a thing.

Dude nice Dr Claw impression

"Who is this bitch?"
The world's most interesting woman.
"Stay thirsty my friends. Wait, that might have come out wrong, can i do it ov-"
I like her
Cookie?? what kind of cookie? a chocolate chip? xD
A bat cookie! :D
ooh a bat shaped cookie? works for me xD
Bat Cookie... Literally a cookie made from bats...
It's a kooky cookie.
You should read the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. It's a vampire story with vampires that are actually scary horrific parasitic monsters, not rejects from "All My Children" with a mild sun allergy. And it has psychically gifted government spies. ESPionage Fucking seriously.
Though I'm not much for vampires myself but I have a soft spot for Vampirella.
Max Brandt that's ironic, I have a really hard spot for vampirella.
kyriss12 Ah, haha! I meant soft spot in my heart or a fondness.
I wonder what he thinks of Hellsing
He has a review out now.
Who cares he is a slob tard that bitch's about everything giving the lamest reviews ever.
Still better than Dragon Ball: Evolution.
I am made up entirely of contrarian counterstatements arranged in the shape of a lonely freak.
W.I.N.G (Western Intelligence Network Group) idk, i feel they had something good but they got lazy at the G, could've used something else like: Garrison, Gathering, Guardians, etc...

"BECAUSE I'M BAT,.................................MAN, I GUESS!"
Mr Cookie...
Still a better name than Shoeboogie.
After all...Cookies need love like everything does.
Windclaw Mwuahahahahaha!
This video shows one of the reasons I liked Benzaie. He is always up for doing just about anything.

When i sensed the upcomming mention of benzaie i squealed like a little girl, i miss benzaie.
They feed on people's life force? Like in the movie Lifeforce with Steve Railsback.
Wow, Sage! You just made me wonder what ever happened to Julian Sands! Well played, sir!
Have you seen Hellsing or Hellsing Ultimate?
Bennett should review Hellsing TV or Hellsing Ultimate.
I thought they were gonna have the bare minimum of wit and have his code name be Alucard. Wasn't expecting Bat.
Wait, the popstar's name is Lamia? Who the hell names their daughter that?
14:42 Okay that impression killed me.
Anne Rice is the problem with the Vampire fandom.
How was she the problem?
Cookie: hey mistah J, Im batman! Eat me, eat me!
Wow, some anime studio definitely tried to make a sequel to Planet of the Vampires.
Apparently his name is Kuki, they probably pronounce it differently in Japanese.
Huh, Now I want some Kuki's.
Put that Kuki down!!!!
Paul Majano NEVER!!!
+CornishCreamtea07 Funny enough no, I'm fairly certain it sonds similar to cookie even in proper Japanese.
@@LeonGun8 more like "kooky", as in, a synonym for "weird" or "crazy".
15:40 "Tire Rye Ron." - Incel Sage
that was one damn good impression.
Maybe the line was "That's very on the hand" ?
Vampires were Gay Men before Bram Stoker's Dracula, Lord Ruthven was based on Lord Byron.
Does anyone know what anime that is at the end of the opening? Where it's a guy in a broken space ship?
You're overthinking this on some points, like the whole dog poop thing. And to me, sneaking back into the mansion to accept the job made a lot of sense because by doing that, Cookie is now in a position of power and is able to negotiate better things than just not being framed for murder.

8:07 "His hawg." -B.Sage
I think I remember seeing this on Syfy a few years ago. I don’t remember it being this goofy though.
what is the outro music, it's awesome!
MR COOKIE-BAT!!!!
12:17 - Are you fucking serious?!
what was the song that played at the very end?
I lov3d that ending music tho
What was that vampire movie at the beginning
thanks
It's dog turf because it's not likely to be a human one where a steamroller is in use.
Bat? If he's fighting a project called Dracula why not use Van helsing or is that too obvious?
Is it wrong that I was laughing my ass off through the entire scene where the movie star learns that she's an alien?
I cant lie, even though I love vampire fiction and mythology, the vampire fandom pisses me off. Look in later videos. But he needs to add outro music credit for his later videos.

After consuming copious amounts of vampiric media, lore and stories from around the entire globe, I have determined what a vampire precisely is.
A vampire is whatever the hell the writer says it is. So long as it feeds on people.
Just struck me, if the star is an "alien" genetically, wouldn't that also go true for her mother, aunt and brother?
her name is lamia
near dark is awesome
Hellsing is good the only good vampire anime I'm sorry I agree with sage vampires do suck but Hellsing is good
+Stoneocean6 I personally also kinda like Trinity Blood
Yes!!!!!!!
I liked Jojo Vampires, mostly cause DIO.
Vampire Hunter D. Nuff said.
jojo > all
At least it had a good ending
why the hell does Mr cookie look like GUTS?
Wait, why is America the enemy here?!
Bad writing?
To think they made a live action movie of this in 2017
:)
(it probably has no relations except the name lol)
Two words: Cookie Bat.
Vampires fighting vampires my ass!!!
Alright that's fair... but do you hate Dio Brando?
Mr. Cookie Bat
Cookie the Batman.
Not to mention that the vampires are portrayed as TERRORISTS at the beginning...HMMMM, HIGHLANDER, anyone?
This was glorious 😆
i got to point this out. i hate it when they make the main guy have this invisible bullet shield. if your hero is running head long into gun fire. he is going to get shot to death. i don't care if he is fighting storm troopers or the blind. unless the guy is built like a tank and can shrug off bullets. their is no tactical reason to do this. it is all for cheesy bullshit.
