I watched your video on intentional practice, and am using it to truly structure effective improvement in my practice and ultimately my playing. Concerning this video: My goals that will drive me and help me enjoy even the repetitive aspects is: 1) I want to play beautiful acoustic Rhythm Guitar and 2) I want to be good enough to fluidly play well with other musician for the joy of it, and sharing it with others. The synergy of playing with others is something I have done in my past, although not so well when I did. I really enjoyed it. I think I have a path forward now. Thanks for helping me on a strategy to finally - after years of dithering around - restructuring my approach, and ideally, ultimately achieving my Goals. Thank You for sharing your insights!
Thank you for sharing, and thank you very much for your interest and positive feedback. I like your goals - that sounds like a very good motivation! I would also like to play more with others, especially with more confidence, so that it is easier to just enjoy it ! That's a good reason to practice. All the best to you, enjoy your practice.
I think this is great that you are sharing your journey. Many professional teachers touch on this subject. I like that you have distilled what you are learning and communicating to us in your own word and experiences. Practice is probably the most important topic to get better at anything and many of us struggle to practice and not just play. Thank you for giving us insight into what you are learning!
Thank you very much for your positive feedback! I highly agree with what you are saying here. It is a proces, and I will always strive to get better at practice itself. I think it takes years to cultivate a good deep practice. I feel like a beginner :)
I have played guitar for years, but basically just first position, 5 or 6 chords. I determined this year I am going to learn Travis Style fingerpicking. Your videos are helping me develop a plan and believe I can actually reach that goal. Thank you for being willing to put this content out there
Hey mate.. That's great to hear! I'm sure you can learn it. It is a wonderful style to play, and a great challenge also. I am working on a video series about developing fingerstyle technique, which I hope can be useful for you. Thank you very much for your kind feedback. All the best. Ruben
Awesome, Paul. A good brain workout is also one of the things that make it purposeful for me. I wanna play for the rest of my life, and I hope can - like you - be dedicated still at 73. Once I get my technique more together I wanna put more focus to ear training also. All the best, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing, my friend 😊 The Lord’s love + grace be with you His hope + peace, in Life, and beyond the grave Hope you are all well and resting in Jesus saving love + grace 😊 Warmest Love + blessing’s friends 😊

I am 73 doing this to keep my mind active. I'm focusing on fingerstyle and ear training for improvising.
Best wishes in reaching your goals Ruben.

I am turning 40 this year - I want to be able to play instrument with my kid one day - he is very good at volin.
I like that! I have a daughter at 16 months old. I wish we can bond and play music together when she gets older. Thanks for sharing 😊
