Seems to me like someone in the LEGO marketing dept thought bringing him in was a great idea and then the Legal dept shut it down. No big shock as his content was always dubious for someone to be an Ambassador. Just2Good may be getting a little worried by this news!

Disclosure is an FTC requirement. The people not disclosing weren’t bad people but things have changed since that video. Almost everyone discloses perfectly well now so viewers know what they need to know.
I wish Lego would put more effort into set announcements, like live streams, videos, etc, in the same way that video games get announced. This would justify them cracking down on leaked set names.
He should have never been an ambassador. He makes video's mocking people in the Lego community. It's why I unsubsidized from his channel & I ignore his channel & him at conventions.
Totally agree with you. I think people tend to forget LEGO is company and when "leaks" come out that can effect their marketing plan and rollouts in all different regions around the world. Obviously a company of their size wants to keep things under the wraps especially with what you said about the other large companies like Warner Brothers and what not but I feel a large part of the community unfortunately forgets how leaks may effect LEGO as a company. Loved your point of view on this. Great channel by the way.
I honestly don't know how I feel about any of this. On one hand the rules concerning leaked information/images has always been self explanatory so a higher/stricter standard for LAN members is more less expected. On the other being a LAN member could also seriously impede the kind of content you create and the audience you're aiming for in that it may not coincide with what TLG wants it to be or represent. I think personally this was the dilemma Ryan was mostly facing with his channel not just recently, but over the years. For someone as creative/openly opinionated as he is his content goes much further than just reviewing Lego sets so can't really say I'm surprised as he's probably much better off without LAN in my opinion. Glad to know it's worked out for him though.
I think Lego made the right decision with MandR. I do like watching Ryan’s channel but I do find the way he comes across as harsh, ranting and a little arrogant which unlike your calm self, is not a character that goes with the fun and happy side of Lego.
Good riddance. He deliberately smashed the Colosseum set by dropping it on his driveway. That is an arrogant, thick, irresponsible spoiled-brat thing to do. He also talks too fast and cares nothing for non-native-English speakers. Destroying that expensive set was a horrible example for young fans. Bye Ryan.
@@skinnyj123 “he talks to fast” 😂😂😂 and you assume I hate people who don’t speak English natively because of this. This guys just an idiot. Can’t argue with stupid.
Personally I have Lego and Magic the Gathering as hobbies. I'm not a collector but my card collection is like my Lego, never got rid of it since I started. These days "investors" have made my card game completely out of reach financially for new players. They buy and hoard sealed product. I never wanted this aspect to enter Lego. In my opinion the Lego Group has seen the direction of these youtube "flexer" channels showing off big sealed collections and pining about investments. There is a distinct tone that MandR took that makes the middle class kid see Lego as a symbol of expensive taste instead of the creative escape they can grow and imagine anything with. For them to hold Ambassadors to a higher level of responsibility is a healthy sign and should be exactly what we expect from a responsible company. Yes they may ask Ambassadors to present positively on sets that are outside the channels specific focus or hinder the hype of leaks. When I consider the debate of free speech and independent reviews I have to say that taking the Lego Ambassador badge is just like an employee at the store, we expect the bias and TRUST Lego Group to control those involved with some rules on presenting and interacting. There is always a fine line but it is better for the Lego market as a whole if hype and fomo are not how Ambassadors work. Stemming that is very important to me as a customer. Personally I hate the channels that show off a rich "lifestyle" and they seem to be the home of most these leaks and hype videos. It's distasteful, Lego was where I went to escape the elitism and ego that reminded me I didn't fit in and channels like MandR just make my skin crawl.
Personally I think they need to be cracking down on the people who are leaking confidential images and info first, like the ones with the big yellow stickers on, obviously they're getting out from inside the lego employees etc etc. I have no problem with news of upcoming sets etc, what i hate is rumours that are started and you get hyped for the product and then it doesn't get made, that's annoying. I very rarely watch leak videos as i don't care what is up and coming really, If i like a set i see i buy it, simples. The channels who solely relay on rumours and leaks are going to find it hard too. Members of LAN, well the only perks i see are getting sets early to review and grow your channel/audience etc, but like you say i hope Lego will always welcome positive and negative feedback on sets, if they don't know the negatives, they can't grow as a company and learn. Cool video Mike, keep up the great work.
Unrelated to Ryan, I believe you would be a much better representative of the Lego brand. My guess is it is just a matter of building up your subscriber base. You have a more measured view of what makes a set good or just OK and you also like a wider variety of their various content. Plus with kids of your own that play with LEGO you provide perspective from both the adult and child collectors. I think your time reviewing for some of the big players also helps a lot. I hope at some point you get the recognition you deserve assuming you want to be a part of it.
Leaks help to build up hype for the set and help you plan what to buy. Lego don’t help themselves as they sometimes only announce a D2C set a few days before it releases ( Diagon Alley was announced the day before it went on sale), which doesn’t give people a lot of time to save up for it.
I agree with the building up hype, but there are company who take Lego’s sets and steal the designs, which is why Lego is so hesitant to reveal sets months ahead of release.
It looks like LEGO is trying to change what LAN is about, it's kind of going back to what it was originally, encouraging the community to grow through events like LUG meet-ups, and reviews of upcoming sets. If you look at the problems you can get from speculations from LAN members on LEGO it kind of makes sense: LAN member speculates about up coming set clearly stating it is speculation, viewer watches video and tells their friends that they heard about upcoming sets from a LAN member, they neglect to mention that it was speculation. When the set doesn't come out, you end up with people upset because they had heard it from an official LEGO ambassador. With leaks it's even worse, every leak that is "promoted" by a LAN member that turns out to be false will result in people annoyed at LEGO, not at the person who made up the leak. Now that Ryan isn't in LAN, he is free to speculate and talk about leaks (as long as he's careful about copyright), that can still build hype for LEGO whilst distancing LEGO from negativity when it all goes wrong. I don't think LAN will start kicking out people for giving bad reviews, but they do (and always have) expected a certain level of professionalism, they are paying for the review (legally giving a free item to review is paying for the review). If they feel someone is stepping outside of what they deem acceptable, then of course LEGO will do something about it, I obviously don't know the full story and it sounds like they didn't go straight to kick. All in all, this seems like a positive for both sides, Ryan regains the freedom to do what he likes with LEGO, LEGO get to distance themselves from anything they consider undesirable. Ryan obviously misses out on the LAN perks like free LEGO and better access to LEGO, but sometimes sacrifices are needed to ensure freedom.
Seriously what exactly is the point of LAN? Lego is in complete denial about it being a marketing ploy which is exactly what it is. Mike, why do you want to be in LAN? Honest question.
At first I thought that the support from the LEGO Group would help me grow the audience through recognition and also the product support would help me with relevant content the cost of which is sometimes hard to handle when you want to keep up to date with everything. I think also there this feeling of achievement as in being recognized by the company you spent so much effort on showcasing and supporting. As I said in the video, I am re-evaluating that again as the rules become more difficult to abide by and may in the end cast shadow over the perks of being in LAN.
I have a feeling lego is mad at Ryan for saying negative things about its products. they probably dont understand that a review is just listing the features but also saying your honest opinion. Since Ryan was actually honest, Lego didnt like that
@@PortalMasterStudios not on the scale that Ryan does. Justin still speaks nicely and says but this fixes it while Ryan makes sure you know. Ryan is just more extreme with his opinion which is good
I don't wanna hate on Ryan - I used to be a BIG fan of his since the Clone Army days of LEGO UA-cam and I don't think he's a bad dude - but I really don't think his content meshes well with the spirit of LEGO. I admire his honesty but I think he mostly just comes across a off-putting once you've watched him a while. I think his appeal is mainly to young, similarly edgy viewers who are in it more for the memey/hype side of things rather than the LEGO itself. And I think in general more and more viewers are gonna become tired of MandR's content ☹️
This is mainly about Ryan sticking to his guns and not "Bending the Knee" with "Every Lego set is Amazing, the best ever" etc etc that we see from most of the Ambassador backed YT'ers The leaks thing is dressing imho.
Before they can actually be a real eCommerce giant, they need to have a working eCommerce website! Their website is so not friendly and reliable, especially when new sets come out.
The leaks are what provided me the ability to save up for upcoming sets. I can't buy sets when they come out instantly without notice especially when they're expensive sets. Lego is not cheap and knowing a set that's say, $200 or more a few months in advance gave me time to save the money to buy it.
Speaking of violating IP, I can’t imagine that Brickvault has license agreements with all the various companies whose IP they make money from with the sale of instructions for various MOCs, be it Lucas Film (Star Wars), Universal (Jurassic World), the Fifth Element, etc, etc.
Gee do you think LEGO would think he’s been good ambassador for them? Ambassadors generally don’t consistently criticize the companies they represent and keep their “job”
@@gbrow1604 Umm no, if you don’t like what LEGO is doing you should leave the LAN program. Doesn’t mean you have to shower them with praise with every set you get to review, but if complaints become the rule rather than the exception it’s time to move on.
One of my biggest issues the whole time is they don’t see themselves as “marketing”. Incredibly frustrating for someone at my level and everything I do that I enjoy doing but also promotes what they do and I never felt like they valued me for a dozen reasons.
additionally, Lego was just mad that you pointed out the flaws and errors of the company and its products (such as HP art and the Frigate thing) and Lego doesnt want that. they can't handle it
This is very true. They even emphasized this on the rejection email and one of the reasons was that they see me more as an "influencer" and less as a LEGO community creator. Just the supports with free products and asking to make content about is marketing support, as much as you want to cover it. The role of LAN is sometimes very confusing in their own definition.
@@TheCoolFactor they also don’t ever mention to anyone that you’re supposed to disclose this relationship in your “sponsored” content per the FTC & so when I had to make a video saying all that I’m the bad guy. Now of course most people are much better at it because I made the video.

LEGO when it comes to leaks for new partnerships E.G. VIDIYO and Super Mario are controlled to a certain point like Super Mario was under the name “leaf” and people thought that was Monkie Kid but it ended up being Mario. That did LEGO’s plan of throwing people off. However info was leaked but the sets were revealed by LEGO for both waves. VIDIYO info was out there but just set numbers and prices until LEGO revealed it the name then the sets did leak and go on store shelves but to a less standard then your average Star Wars or Ninjago set as It only came into like 5 peoples hand. However March sets for Ninjago and Star Wars being available in most retailers like Meijer, Barns and Noble, and I think Target. For LAN members and stuff being leaked I can tell you its A LOT stricter as even Ashnflash and just2good didn’t even know if they were following the rules properly when the Mickey Mouse and Friends set names and numbers came out. Since its so much harder to tell if leaks are okay to cover we will probably here a lot more LAN firings because someone could slip up on one tiny thing and that can unfortunately cost them their LAN place. They will probably be most UA-camrs as its a lot easier for someone to slip say “Hey LEGO Super Mario sets are coming” then a website like BrickSet saying “Hey LEGO Super Mario sets are coming” as they just don’t have to type it out. But thats just all my thoughts and opinion on LAN and your video
Cool Factor should be LAN... all these LAN kids are all about minifigures instead of builds... and with brickvault no longer producing it leaves only Jang worth watching.
I still don't ge what's wrong with the Leaks from Lego... It's not a technological company so they cannot be worried about their tech being copied... Leaks in this case creates noise an expectancy, FuLL of what Lego needs to improve their business 🤷🏻♂️
I don't want to get angry at Lego, but at the same time, it sounds like this has been discussed in length between the two. I like Ryan and that might be a factor of it. Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder what a LAN is supposed to do at this point.
He isn't horrible. Horrible is like if you take away a persons life(I'm only using it as an example to define its meaning, as I do not support that human behavior) or POTUS not being good to the American ppl. MandR wants to go by his own rules(it is his choice) and that's why he was kicked out of the LAN. I will say MandR can act a bit cocky/brash at times, witch I don't like. I'm an adult, so he doesn't influence how I act as a person. At the same time he has a lot of much younger followers, where how he acts can influence those really young ppl that follow him. I think he doesn't realize that at times and he needs to mature up quite a bit.
I think lego is mostly in the right. Yes talking about what you hope to get for Lego sets and getting dmca etc is insane. But, more and more channels like you said are into lego. With this comes a lot of misinformation etc. If they do not handle it, it will grow out of control. So I get that if someone is in Lan. Some things are off limit. That's a downside. Getting sets early etc is a upside. Its choice people make.
In my honest opinion, Ryan is a spoiled, entitled child and never deserved to be a LAN member in the first place. I don’t want to sound negative but I don’t think Lego should want a person like Ryan representing their company and I think him being kicked from LAN is evidence that they feel the same.
Leaking is always a problem. But i guess the rules within the enterprise are very strict. No smartphones allowed? The people in Billund should look in their own rows. The source of leaking could be tracked. LAN, local area network. Just joking. I like LAN. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay healthy. The human malware is still around.
It might not be the case and LEGO will never confirm or deny it but you have to admit that because of the fact it is about him, the information reached far more LEGO community members than if it was anyone else. Just look at the views on this video, it is a hot topic but we will never know if it was intentional by LEGO. I don't think it was, actually. Many other factors between LEGO and Ryan played the role.
@@TheCoolFactor Fair enough. I hope too that's not the case. And you are right he did not seem too upset it happened. Onward and upward my Mum used to say.
I understand lego's reasonings for all of this but I disagree with them. They should focus more on cracking down on in-house leaks rather than content creators. I get why they want to hold LAN members to a higher standard but it does seem to be becoming more overbearing. Respect to Ryan for not wanting to be a yes-man to lego though, I think as viewers we can definitely tell that has started to become more common in some LAN members' content.

Same here. Got tired of his shtick a while back.
I have the same opinion.🧐
Totally agree with you. I think people tend to forget LEGO is company and when "leaks" come out that can effect their marketing plan and rollouts in all different regions around the world. Obviously a company of their size wants to keep things under the wraps especially with what you said about the other large companies like Warner Brothers and what not but I feel a large part of the community unfortunately forgets how leaks may effect LEGO as a company. Loved your point of view on this. Great channel by the way.
I would disagree with you. Leaks hype up lego sets more and people will begin to save up for the next wave of sets.
I stopped watching him too. He complains more than needed. Very negative and I doubt that’s what lego wants to associate with.
Bye Ryan.
I don't like him either but I don't think those are valid reasons that factored into anything
Omg someone does something with their own money???! My god, imagine the shock😂
@@countdownshows yeah for real
Hey
I think thats a huge issue as well. Would like to see them do something about this
Unrelated to Ryan, I believe you would be a much better representative of the Lego brand.
No, not for me at least. Doesn’t meet my expectations.
oh my, it will be terrible if the scenario plays out like what you said in the end...
Hey
I didn't watch it lol what did he say
It feels like LEGO is putting pressure on lan members because they have leverage over them. But they need to focus on the source of the leeks.
It made my day when I heard he got removed 😂
Great video Mike, I appreciate the unbiased and detailed explanation
@@TheCoolFactor Not that it matters but great answer. Regardless of what you choose, I hope it works out for you man.
I have a feeling lego is mad at Ryan for saying negative things about its products. they probably dont understand that a review is just listing the features but also saying your honest opinion. Since Ryan was actually honest, Lego didnt like that
I think Lego might be mad at serval things Ryan has done since 2019 and this was just the straw that broke the camel’s back
But what about ppl like Justin who rip apart sets all the time?
@@PortalMasterStudios not on the scale that Ryan does. Justin still speaks nicely and says but this fixes it while Ryan makes sure you know. Ryan is just more extreme with his opinion which is good
@@alexioats1 I wouldn't say he's "extreme" with his opinion. Can you give an example.
@@alexioats1 ya but Ryan doesn't just trash the sets, he totally attacks LEGO
Dude ! Saw you on the beyond the brick Lego theme tier list stream
I don’t really have much of an opinion on it, but enjoyed hearing yours. Nice video and keep up the good work.
The leaks are what provided me the ability to save up for upcoming sets. I can't buy sets when they come out instantly without notice especially when they're expensive sets. Lego is not cheap and knowing a set that's say, $200 or more a few months in advance gave me time to save the money to buy it.

@@comic-book-enthusiast Hey! Hope you're having a good day!
Well LAN isn’t my job, they don’t pay me. I’ll be more than fine.
You're literally saying he should lie.
@@MandRproductions That’s why job was in quotes. I don’t consider it a job. Let’s just call it an appointment.
@@donald2818 What's wrong with him criticizing them?
@@gbrow1604 Umm no, if you don’t like what LEGO is doing you should leave the LAN program. Doesn’t mean you have to shower them with praise with every set you get to review, but if complaints become the rule rather than the exception it’s time to move on.
One of my biggest issues the whole time is they don’t see themselves as “marketing”. Incredibly frustrating for someone at my level and everything I do that I enjoy doing but also promotes what they do and I never felt like they valued me for a dozen reasons.
Wow!!! MandR!
additionally, Lego was just mad that you pointed out the flaws and errors of the company and its products (such as HP art and the Frigate thing) and Lego doesnt want that. they can't handle it
This is very true. They even emphasized this on the rejection email and one of the reasons was that they see me more as an "influencer" and less as a LEGO community creator. Just the supports with free products and asking to make content about is marketing support, as much as you want to cover it. The role of LAN is sometimes very confusing in their own definition.
@Twomaese trust me I don’t put it on a pedestal. If that wasn’t obvious.
@@TheCoolFactor they also don’t ever mention to anyone that you’re supposed to disclose this relationship in your “sponsored” content per the FTC & so when I had to make a video saying all that I’m the bad guy. Now of course most people are much better at it because I made the video.

Sad! But LEGO can do what LEGO does. I’d always want to have a good relationship with LEGO since I want to work there, but in Ryan’s situation I don’t blame him or LEGO. LEGO changed their rules, Ryan wants to do what he wants to do. I don’t think anyone did anything wrong on both sides here! It is sad he was kicked, but I think it’ll benefit him because he can be more free in his content! :)

Honestly, I think Ryan kind of deserved to get removed from it because no matter what he has something negative to say about LEGO and he doesn’t just mention it once he mentions it like 20 freaking times and then continues to grieve about it in every video he makes
Respectfully, I don’t think Ryan’s attitude is compatible with the LEGO brand as a representative. I didn’t think it was ever a good fit. I’m not saying every LEGO Ambassador has to praise everything they do, and love every set produced, but his overall demeanor is pretty negative. Not in a constructive criticism way either. More of “it’s easier too be mean, than positive” approach to generating content. Oh well, more room for MIKE!!! 😁
What do you by him having a "it's easier to be mean than positive" approach? Can you give me an example.
@@gbrow1604 it’s easier for a critic to point out flaws than the things done right. He seems to revel more in that part. Specific example would be any of his reaction to Hidden Side.
@@Robbie_Hildebrand In general I wouldn't say he's like that. He's usually reasonably positive about sets and reasonably points out their flaws, unless the set's really bad.

I won’t miss him. Stopped watching when he destroyed the coliseum. If it was my company, would I want an ambassador representing the brand like that.... absolutely not. They just weren’t a good fit for each other. Content like that is absolute trash. UA-camrs resort to that when they’ve no good content to push out and are just chasing views through the shock factor.

While i can enjoy his content, he's not the type of person that LEGO wants. Whatever your opinion is on him, LEGO wants more, less you know. He's not exactly a role model in any sense, but rather you watch for the entertainment of his character. For youtube stuff, great, but for a role that is more serious, he isn't cut out for it with how he does things.
It sounds like MandRProductions monetization practices were incompatible with LAN
The problem with leaks lies with Lego, i've signed many a NDA/CA in my time and that's all it takes....

Brickqueen would be happy about this
He is no longer an ambassador to the community
I'm happy to see him out of LAN because he's a horrible person, but at the same time I don't really like the idea of LAN anyways.
I agree
How tf is he a horrible person?
@@gbrow1604 He has hurt a lot of my friends over the years, and never changes despite claiming he has. How is a bully not horrible?

I think lego is mostly in the right. Yes talking about what you hope to get for Lego sets and getting dmca etc is insane.
But, more and more channels like you said are into lego. With this comes a lot of misinformation etc.
If they do not handle it, it will grow out of control.
So I get that if someone is in Lan. Some things are off limit. That's a downside. Getting sets early etc is a upside.
Its choice people make.
bruh idk why but this is the only video ive liked out of all youtube watched in like 4 months
In my honest opinion, Ryan is a spoiled, entitled child and never deserved to be a LAN member in the first place. I don’t want to sound negative but I don’t think Lego should want a person like Ryan representing their company and I think him being kicked from LAN is evidence that they feel the same.
May I ask why exactly you think that?

I understand lego's reasonings for all of this but I disagree with them. I don't think they understand the marketing and hype leaks bring to their products and think Ryan was unfairly targeted due to his status.
