- DON'T MISS PART 2 AND 3!!
I saw the original video, and as so many people were asking what they were saying, I decided to make my own video with English subtitles. Enjoy!
I have had permission from the original owner to use their video, as they wanted it translated aswell.
Video originally belongs to: @tribaltaisan
There are two other interviews, don't miss them!!!!
To someone who doesn't speak Welsh, this sounds like the pissed, posh man off the fast show. "Mumble, mumble, mumble, I was very, very, drunk"
Welsh is one of several Celtic languages, which include, Scottish, Irish, Manx, Cornish and Breton.
i love it when he says "supernatural" *o*
I love the fact that I speak welsh and understand all of it!
thanks A LOT for the subs! I always enjoy Iwan talking and Welsh sounds rly cool but I didn't understand a word! lol. thanks again
Welsh is so fucking cool.and he is gorgeous
Welsh sounds like the language that Sims people speak :D :D :D
I love The way Welsh sounds...How I wish I could speak it!
@oiStuartx What is the point in English? It is a language for a certain country, like Scotland and Ireland have too. Something personal to that country which makes it different.
Great subtitles, really helped me a lot.
Granted there are no subtitles so I don't understand a word they're saying but for someone who's interviewing Iwan, she sure is doing all of the talking. I want to hear Iwan even if I don't understand a word.
@ravenwyld It's good to hear that you're progressing with your learning. It is going to be hard to pronounce LL, but you will get there. My Dad is English, but can say LL perfectly fine because my name starts with it. It's also nice to hear that you'll give your children Welsh names. If I were to give you a word of advice, I wouldn't give them a word that's hard to pronounce for an English person. When I introduce myself to English people I get embarrassed about their struggle.
jesus what is the welsh language
It's a language from Wales.
@Moses SingletaryWow, you're being fundamentally offensive about Iwan's native language; what a hilarious guy you are. 🙄
@Moses SingletaryNo, your attempt at humour about Welsh is old and boring. Nothing new about any of this at all. Claiming Welsh is actually English and associating it with being drunk is just old, cliche and boring.
And your claim that you can joke about it because you might possibly be part Welsh is the first funny thing you've said.
@Moses SingletaryInstead of coming up with convoluted ways of insulting me (salt mines? snow angels?), which are no more devastating than your jokes are funny, you could just acknowledge that calling Welsh English and its speakers drunks wasn't a really good idea.
Does wales have there own welsh only channel like TG4 in Ireland for Irish????
@smilingtigergirl thanx. im not getting it as fast as id like but im making strides learning the tricks like F is V and DD is TH. there are some odd ones that cant even compare to English like how LL is a sort of LTH sound doing a weird thing with your tongue. i have an audio book of how to speak welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and Breton. if i ever have kids they are getting welsh names.
I think it sounds like that partly because Rheon starts with the Welsh letter 'rh' which is pronounced differently to a normal 'r'
Not gonna lie, I wasn't even following the subtitles. I was just gazing at Iwan the whole time
@ravenwyld It's not really necessary that you can roll your r's. I'm Welsh but occasionally struggle doing so, but doesn't impare what I'm trying to say. I have a lot of friends who are the same. Keep at it and you'll soon find yourself rolling them without even trying or having even learnt to do so :)
It's spelt 'goruwchnaturiol'.
he sounds like he has a lisp when he's speaking in welsh!
wow, i love how he said supernatural. he's so adorable!
@ctswright Actually in Ireland we speak Gaeilge, not Gaelic
He sounds really cute when he talks in Welsh ;3
@mookieissnowflake Wow, I didn't think doing these videos would get such a response! Yes, it is Welsh :P I just though that everyone should enjoy what Iwan has to say!
@TheFathead95 Did you know that they still do?
@smilingtigergirl there are plenty of beautiful welsh names that are not too complicated to pronounce.
If you're on mobile the cc button isn't there so you can't use the subtitles.
@forevernovember24 Theyre two different languages. Similar, yes, but not the same. Kinda like spanish and italian or something. The scottish word for knife is Skean, the irish is Scian. Along those lines...
@spidaminida yes because I am Irish and I learn the language every day in school
I'm on the iPhone app so I couldn't see the subtitles.
I listened to the whole thing and I have no idea what they were saying.
All I know is I want to learn this language.
THIS LANGUAGE IS AMAZING
Thanks for the subs!
Probably like me and my cousins trying to speak teochiu with our relatives and occasionally forgetting the word and going back into english...
@KevCahir Yes, we have S4C. Although we are currently fighting to keep it as they are talking of cutting their money.
there isn't any subtitles?...huh???
huh?? can't see the subtitles.... :(
does anybody else not get subtitles?
@Zhaniii subtitles appear when you click on the cc button
A shame there is not with Welsh subs. What is the name of that presentater? She is quite gorgeous :O
@KevCahir If you want to see Robert Sheehan speaking Irish type in An Creatur to the search bar.
@LaterTuesday click on the CC button on the bottom right corner of the vid
there are no subtitles
@bb3840
You probably didn't know Irish people spoke a different language as well
Now the million dollar question...how do you pronounce it?
I'm on UA-cam on my itouch so i can't click the subtitles buttton but I watched the whole thing anyway cos it was so cute!
How do you spell "supernatural" in Welsh?
ummmm....where are the subtitles?
i am trying to learn welsh but i cant roll my r's :(
there isn't any subtitles?...huh??? could you like err i dunno, thanks anyways.
Where are the subtitles/
I also have that power... THE POWER OF SUPERNATURALITY!!!
LOL ... I agree, it should be called Iwan Rheon in Welsh
i like how he speaks, so cute)
Ramsey Bolton seems like such a nice man here.
They don't have a lisp! Double L in Welsh is just pronounced like that!
is it just me who is not seeing the english subtitles ??
You would never need to pay for a museum, opera, ballet, concert, art show,
@smilingtigergirl TG4 is in the same boat. Everyone in ireland learns Irish in school but no one can speak it fluently when they do there leaving cert (irish A levels) Plus TG4 doesnt have any decent programs
I doubt Robert Sheehan can speak Irish!
I dont get why they have another language.. I mean, they are a part of britain.
Welsh is so.... odd :P
but Iwan is fantastic!!!!!
(by the way- is it pronounced EEE-wan or EHHH-wan?)
@mspuppylover2010 oh okay Welsh is such an intriguing language
@smilingtigergirl i dont think we can compare tho, cause South has different words to us North's dont they xD i think he's got good South Welsh :D
@xXEminemXGirlXx That's true! It's not particularly hard, it's just that we tend to talk quite fast :P The- ll, ch, and dd- are the hardest parts...which makes it awkward for me since my name starts in ll. Such a bother in England!
I don't know why this language blows my mind. As clarification the name is pronounced Kreh-on even though it's spelled Rheon?
How does one learn to roll their r's that way. That's not the Spanish r roll.
Ugh the automatic captions don't work at all, its just jiberish...
@coolife2me Yes... Are you trying to tell me or asking? Because if you're telling me, then I know because I'm actually Welsh myself, and made the video! :/
@NMHFRAN its easy... you just have to learn how to say weird combinations of lettes like ll and ch xD
is this a language or did they smash their heads on a keyboard and read it back
@oiStuartx what the hell? its a language.. the point of it is to learn it and speak it... Why ask such a stupid question? What do you think the point of Welsh is?!
@R0B0TSINDISGUISE No problem! I thought it only fair that everyone could understand Iwan Rheon. Oh, and I love Robots in Disguise :P x
Its a bilingual country. Most ppl speak English as their primary language (I think only about 20% speak Welch fluently or as their primary language)
omg what is this language?????????????????????
Zhamal Chikobaeva Welsh
Zhamal Chikobaeva It's the mythological language of the Fair Folk.
He looks like Arwen Undomiel here! And is speaking Elvish!
Sure you did. Even I understand the word "glamorous" and "embarrassing."
It takes me a second to realise that they aren't speaking English when I hear him speaking welsh in interviews
@Begripligt Nothing comes up.
she is fit, did not matter i could not uderstand her :P
@xChasingSummerx Look, I really hate it when people have arguments completely unrelated to the video theyre watching, so Im only going to humour you one more time, plus I dont know why you care so much to be honest. I made a sweeping comparison. Get over it. Ive studied both Italian and Spanish in college and found them to be remarkably similar in loads of cases, eg: leche/latte caliente/caldo pluma/piuma. Im not making the point that theyre the same, only that theyre similar in places
No 'k', that's just her rolling 'r'.
@xXEminemXGirlXx It's funny seeing people try and say my name. My name was mentioned on the radio once, such fun! It's awkward when meeting celebs for them to sign things to you too, have to spell it! Sometimes when I'm in England I use my middle name as it's English :P
such a bizarre language
for the first 10 seconds I could have sworn she was speaking english
also, what subtitles?
If you were invisible
it's not an interview, the chick keeps talking all the time!
Am i just hearing it or does he have a lisp when he's speaking Welsh?
Not that it's a bad thing i find It cute
@smilingtigergirl
Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam.
"A country without a language is a country without a soul."
I feel like I understand what they're saying but I dont :P
Holy fucking LANGUAGE Batman!!!!(0.o)
She sounds like she's speaking Welsh, he just sounds pissed!
@iMurphyD22 you realise that can be seen as a racist comment right?
This is also the hardest language to understand, wow I can't make out a single thing. Very nice words you guys got there.
people always sound more interesting when they're speaking a foreign language that you don't understand...
So this is how Welsh sounds like... I was wondering... lol To me, it's like listening to Italian, I think I understand it, yet I get no shit ( I'm a Spaniard =).
@kamarockz6285 welsh! though it sounds like something you'd hear on The Sims haha
i strangely understand what he's saying and i don't speak welsh haha
oh! ya , sorry my bad..
i wish i could learn welsh T_T sounds pretty cool
oh my god, usually i have some clue as to what people are saying in different languages, but welsh is so strange ahah
@TheJosephGraf Eh-wan
@ctswright Oh haha thats ok you dont have to apologise! I just thought youd like to know for future ref :)
