I honestly believe the world would be a Utopia. Not necessarily an advanced one. But I prefer a group of humans who are all happy and like Kobe but live in mud huts instead of people living in a glass building with amazing technology but everyone's at each other's throat.
I remember reading his story in the Reader's Digest when I was around 10. It gave me some hope that I would survive the torture and cruelty of the thing my Mother married. This wonderful saint showed me how to be strong amongst adversity. And that kindness is not a weakness. Not only did I survive, but I am now 60.

True forgiveness can be found when we realize we are all sinners and we wish the salvation of those who have sinned against us. It shows true forgiveness and love when we wish forgiveness and salvation to those who have harmed us those most. Those who don’t deserve it. Because that is what Jesus did for us. And just like Jesus, Saint Kolbe, in his last act before death, raised his hand in the sign of the cross and blessed those who injected him with acid to kill him. He forgave them.

Yeah the camps were just awlfull... The darkest chapter of history will probably be taken by the Germans... For mechanizing death... Both Jews and poles in my family were in the camps... As well as a few ethnic Russians who married into the family.... Truely horrible loss of life... What's ashame is many weren't held accountable for justice... Many went back to normal lives in Germany

I visited Auschwitz in 2018 on a guided tour and this was one of the stories that stuck out to me. Its hard when you're there to imagine that this actually happened, seeing the very room they all starved to death in.
To live such a Holy, Anointed Life and then willingly give his own life for another is the ultimate sacrifice. There are so few of these people and so many satans spawn that I can only wait for the Second Coming.

I choose him as my patron saint when I was confirmed into the Catholic Church as a teenager. I’ve been to Auschwitz and stood outside the cell where he died and it was one of the most moving moments of my life.
God bless him and others like him. They are resting in the lords arms. May the lord bring peace and love to the world and forgive us all. I truly am sorry for my sins and pray the lord will forgive me and let me walk hand in hand with him in heaven. Although there is no doubt that his final act of sacrifice was beyond heroic, I lived with a priest who lived with Maximilian Kolbe when he was the guardian of the friary. To say he was severe would be an understatement. Father B., when asked to pray for Kolbe’s beatification, replied, “If he’s in heaven, I don’t want to go there.” Father B. called him cruel, even sadistic.
We learned about him in my Polish Catholic school. There were also nuns from the order that taught me who were executed by the Nazis (Blessed Stella CSFN and Companions). We also had a Polish Pope and a Polish Cardinal.
My grandfather told me he captured several germans who told him that they had no choice it was fight for the fürher or we kill your family can you do an episode on this topic alwas wonder how many people ended up in that situation

I am quite familiar with the story of Maximilian Kolbe, going back to when he was canonised in the early 1980's, but this is the first time I've heard of the statue at Westminster Abbey. I'm very impressed by that too, and by the other statues they mentioned - Dietrich Bonhoffer and Martin Luther King. An excellent video! I did learn quite a few things, especially about his family and his other activities during the war.

And let's be honest, while the average American won't probably know who was Maximilian Kolbe, the average European won't know who was John Adams.
i went to Kolbe Catholic College in Western Australia so i know his story well.

Fuck you for saying that Maximilian Kolbe is a hero, and I am not ashamed to say that I hate Maximilian Kolbe for saying turn the other cheek in the face of the SS Nazis, and I have way more respect for those who are not about to turn the other cheek to say Happy Birthday General Dwight David Eisenhower who was also a great 20th century president! Eisenhower was a far better man than Kolbe, because he condoned violence against the SS Nazis, and those who sympathized with SS Nazis!

I am quite familiar with the story of Maximilian Kolbe, going back to when he was canonised in the early 1980's, but this is the first time I've heard of the statue at Westminster Abbey. I'm very impressed by that too, and by the other statues they mentioned - Dietrich Bonhoffer and Martin Luther King.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe personifies the following verse:
"Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
I think he more than lived up to that. He was truly a Saint on Earth.
How can Rudolf Hoss and this extraordinary man be a product of the same species.

Much of the postwar evidence used to try and convict Nazis came from their own meticulous record-keeping. It was a cultural trait.

Although i am a protestant. I admire kolbe for his great bravery. I have seen for myself where he died in Auschwitz.
