I went to the junkyard and they gave me a Front hood or trunk hoof free. It worked fine. Yes,it wore eventually but you just get another.

I do this with an old truck hood, you might try putting a layer of fiberglass or epoxy resin on the bottom. Might have an easier time on rough ground
