    Seraphism feels insanely strong. I really wonder if we're gonna see more Scholar/Sage comps just due to how much raw healing power it has.
    Kinda wish the transformation itself looked a little better though. Those wings look kinda ugly and I dunno if turning into an angel really gels with its aesthetic

      I doubt it, Sage overwrites a lot of scholar's shields even if they're worse so a lot of scholars just get annoyed when they're with a sage.

      I don't get people who say this. Nymian scholars channeled fairies and that's been their thing since. They mimic the way Nymian scholars wardrobe. Their whole thing was using Arcanima to bind and channel Fae creatures for their restoration abilities.
      You're an Arcanist who heals through Fae. So yea they make sense thematically

      That is true! I used to have Summon Seraph in the same spot as Temperance/Neutral Sect/Physis II... now, it is moved to a blank (but unfortunately out-of-the-way) spot that I generally reserve for dps burst windows, and Seraphism takes that "superheal" hotbar spot. Physis II, obviously, will also have to be moved elsewhere, and Philosophia will be on the same "superheal" spot as well.
      In addition to the already high button count, Place and Heel are also part of my main hotbars so I don't need to click on my Pet Hotbar with my mouse to use them.

    Everyone's super hype on Seraphism, but idk... we cast GCDs so rarely these days that it feels like in 90% of situations its just a regen. I just wish SCH didn't have to give up damage to do cool things like the other healers.

    • @Cherryblossoms110
      @Cherryblossoms110 5 місяців тому +3

      ...rare? What kind of content do you do where casting a GCD heal is rare? Do you only parse 24/7 or something?
      I have to do it in casual content when tanks don't mitigate, or the DPS are terrible. (and this was the norm rather than the exception heading into Dawntrail...)
      I have to do it when I help people get their first savage clears and shit hits the fan.
      I have to do it when I do ultimates or criterion.
      I mean obviously if you mean "using GCD heals throughout the entire fight", yeah, sure, GCD heals are rare... but like, if you're doing that in the first place you're playing healer wrong...
      If anything, this skill means that scholar is finally actually capable of doing full recovery by itself, rather than just dropping a Succor, Indom, Soil, and praying...

    • @PokechampionJade
      @PokechampionJade 5 місяців тому

      @@Cherryblossoms110 I would count once or twice an instance as rare, yes. Ultimate and Criterion would be in that 10% where you actually use the GCDs, but unless you spend all your time in them, for general gameplay, the regen would cover the healing needed.
      I think why I’m so down on the skill is that it’s another skill that dissipation disables, leading to more anti-synergy in a kit that already has spells that disable each other, on top of being yet other big cool button scholar has that costs damage to use, like all aetherflow heals and deployment. Scholar is the only healer that needs to actively lose damage to do cool stuff, and this is just another skill that does that.

      Brother, if it was just a second charge to Whispering Dawn that itself would be nice and pretty useful, but you are telling me it comes with all these little benefits that I can use if I ever happen to need them? Heck yes. I love this ability, because sure you don't need it all the time, but when you do need it it's like an I WIN button. Doesn't matter how hard the DPS try (and they try _really_ hard), they are not dying when Seraphism is up.

  • @yihaoyu3904

    Kinda surprised BOTH Dissipation and ED are untouched at the same time (given change one could very well solve the "issue" or "unintended use" of the other)
    Esp since their focus is to improve the ease of use this expansion iirc.
    Just some random thoughts about how I may change them...
    1. Combine Dissipation and Aetherpact:
    Fairy stops Embrace and channels the scholar for 30s. Refresh all aetherflow abilities.
    During it, the next 3 aetherflow abilities don't cost aetherflow but also don't give Faerie gauge.
    Effect ends upon using 3 abilities, or using any fairy skill that intercepts the channeling, or the total 30s expires.
    2. Combine Ruin II and ED:
    Ruin II: Instant GCD deals damage equals to Broil. Require ~30 Faerie Gauge.
    Incentive not to overcap on aetherflow while "reward" mobility for healing. Using Lustrate no longer means you or your party member messed up and should compensate the loss of Aetherpact/Fey Union as imo union feels clunky to use in the first place...

    I'm not sold with the changes that come to Sch.
    Healingwise is a fucking monster capable of mitigation that no other healer can match but the kit is already so bloated that we rarely need to use that healing strenght on barely any content. I wish we would have gotten out dots or removed tools back because those were buttons we actually used on all the content. (Especially since Sge got a 1m cd and the 30s aoe dot that is gain on 1, they are losing in strength but winning in fun).
    The most relevant changes come from something that could have easily been a patch update (Recitation Cd reduction, Baneful impaction and chain duration increase) and the lv100 skill, as powerful as it may be doesn't feel like a Sch skill at all, its as if the dev's idea of Sch were "Whm with fairy/angel" and called it a day.

    I'll be honest, I rarely ever use dissipation, I use it when and if I need emergency aether flow for healing and never as extra damage through energy drain, heck, I don't dump the flow into drains unless I see I have flow left and the cool down for aether flow is about to come back. I'd rather lose dissipation all together and just get a total of 4 aether flow.

    Baneful Impaction is nice, but being locked behind a 2 minute cooldown is a huge disappointment, especially when Scholar used to have Miasma, Bane, Miasma II, and Shadow Flare. Seraphism also seems like a huge hit to the job's visual and thematic identity and has gotten a lot of backlash for its aesthetic dissociation from the job. Really hope we can see changes to the healers without needing to wait another 2.5 years for the next expansion. #FFXIVHealerStrike

      a couple thousand healers deciding not to play healer in roulette content really will not change anything lol, especially when it's 99% just casuals upset that the casual easymode content does not hit as hard as a savage or ultimate raid (they see some ultimates be done without healers and assume it just doesn't do a lot of damage, but the reality is doing it healerless is a HUGE accomplishment)

      @SquallLion90 5 місяців тому +1

      @@lukahcasshe6197 Those people already have the class they would like though. When they describe wanting "engaging healer gameplay" or "something else to do when they don't have to heal" they just describe Magical Ranged DPS or act as if Cleric Stance or more DoTs made healers more interesting when they didn't. I do agree that healers and tanks are too powerful for most content, but I doubt the devs are just going to strip away abilities or nerf tank self sustain just to make a vocal minority happy for 2 secs. before they start complaining about something else like they always do. So those people can stop playing the class they don't like and play Magical Ranged DPS, cool, but acting like that's going to make any degree of difference in queues/PF in Dawntrail or that the playerbase or devs should care is both hilarious and delusional because in reality they're a vocal minority on the forums that don't even represent the majority of the healer playerbase. If that healer strike meant anything you'd start to see it take affect right now yet all I see are tanks and even DPS more in need than healers so either they're full of crap and don't intent on "striking" or they make up such a small minority of the playerbase that it doesn't matter if they strike or not.
      What they should be arguing for is making the game more challenging as a whole which I would agree with, not whining that the role no one is forcing them to play, doesn't play like another role already in the game...

    • @Cherryblossoms110
      @Cherryblossoms110 5 місяців тому +1

    • @Cherryblossoms110
      @Cherryblossoms110 5 місяців тому +2

      @@lukahcasshe6197 This isn't conjecture or projection. There is evidence. Just pick any 10 random healers in support on that thread and look up their logs. At most, maybe 1% of them have ever cleared any Savage floor, and I've yet to see a single one play Astrologian. (Wow it's almost like Astrologian mains are content are something)
      The leader of the movement doesn't even fucking main healer.
      If you actually knew how healer worked you'd understand they're complaining about nothing because Astrologian has literally everything they're asking for (complex DPS rotation, uniqueness, weak oGCD heals), but they actively choose not to play that job, because they don't actually know what they want.
      They're actively trying to make the easiest healers less accessible because either:
      - They're too scared or too terrible at the game to get into savage/ultimate
      - They're elitists who want to make the easiest healers harder to play because they're too scared to play Astrologian
      And they're doing it by taking advantage of people's lack of knowledge on healer DPS rotations.
      If you actually spoke to actual healer mains who gave a shit about their DPS, you would easily come to understand that healer's rotation is not just 12111..112.
      Just like how if you tried to understand BLM's rotation, you would understand that it's not just 11112111... BECAUSE IT ISN'T.
      There's slide casting (which most of the healers in the thread are also terrible at), optimizing resources, getting buffs out in time, etc.
      It's such a bad joke
      Listen, do you want to know why I and most other healer players don't care for the strike?
      Well, first, because they're making healers look bad which is embarrassing.
      And because it's a bunch of losers trying to make the game worse and force people to depend on them because they can't face their own weaknesses. (I think the average person would call these types of people, uh, "toxic".)
      If they got they wanted and Square Enix reverted healer back to how it was, it would actively make the game worse for casual players, and even worse for players with disabilities.
      The more important you make healer in casual content, the less people will want to play healer, and the longer queues will take.
      The more difficult you make healer's rotation, the less people will want to play healer, and the longer queues will take.
      The less healing/mitigation abilities other roles have, the more apathetic they become to damage intake and healers.
      And do you know who will end up taking all of the emotional baggage for mistakes because they took away recovery options from non-healer roles?
      YEAH, THE HEALER.
      IT'S A LOSE LOSE SITUATION FOR EVERYONE, JUST BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO DO DIFFICULT CONTENT OR PLAY A DIFFICULT CLASS
      LIKE BRO, W H A T?
      Sincerely,
      Not a healer main, but still plays healer more than all of those "healer mains", enough to have cleared the current savage tier on 3 different healers, and enough to have developed an abhorrent hatred for queueing in duty finder as a healer because the tanks won't fucking mitigate..

    SCH changes look really cool but it's absolutely disheartening how poorly SGE is treated in comparison just because its somewhat "easier" to play. Less utility, less mitigation, and less rDPS compared to what's supposed to be a counterpart. They already had to buff Sage in like every patch in Endwalker despite it being a competent job already just to try to maintain some semblance of parity and it's looking like the gap is going to be even wider in Dawntrail unless theres some significant potency changes between media tour and live build.

    Now I've been main SCH since ARR, so I think I know what I'm talking about. That said, while the new changes are "good," they're not at all what the class needed. It's already got plenty of mitigation and healing and I'm confident in saying it can carry the healing for any raid party solo. The problem is that the job does not synergize with any of the other healers (including itself) and the kit is so bloated that you're forced to press extra buttons to achieve the same results that SGE can get for less. For example, Yoshi said during one of the live letters that they wanted SCH to be able to lean more into their direct heals, yet dissipation cannot be used while Seraphism is in effect Likewise, none of the pet skills can be used while dissipation is in effect.
    You may say Seraphism is good and it is, but perhaps a bit too good at hat it does. You effectively become a healing/barrier powerhouse That's not really a bad thing but you do SOOOOO much over healing it's crazy. Especially when some of that could have gone into potential DPS instead.

    Recitation is my favourite button on Scholar, so being able to use it more is a win in my book.
    I'm not really a high end Scholar so I don't know if I'll be in positions where I'll need Seraphism, but I'll definitely use it.
    I'm surprised we didn't get any changes to the Faerie Gauge. I'm good with converting Aetherflow to Faerie Gauge. Faerie Gauge to Fey Union is fine too. It just feels like there's a step missing. Like if Fey Union changed Whispering Dawn, Fey Illumination and Fey Blessing into stronger variants with a Faerie Gauge. Seraphism and Seraph both feel like abilities that should cost Faerie Gauge. But it's better they don't, just for ease of use.
    Not really a fan of Energy Drain and Dissipation. I'd much rather have the Summoner's version of Energy Drain, with the Aetherflow gain and Further Ruin effect included. I'm curious, do people use Dissipation for the 20% increases to healing magic potency or just the Aetherflow?

    • @fae85
      @fae85 5 місяців тому +2

      The increased 20% healing pot. is useful for situations where you want to brute-force/cheese a mechanic.
      For TOP P2 my group chose to stack all our groups mits to facetank the meteors. As SCH, I stacked Protraction+Fey Illum + Dissipation to spread a thick recit critlo along with Soil + Expedience + Seraph.
      Another time it came in handy was during P8SP1 when my partner for Dog 2 died. Stacking a super shield with Dissipation + Soil let me live the "pair" stack and recover.
      Another case where the increased healing could be useful is when you need raw heal throughput (P10S Harrowing Hell w/o a proper mit/heal plan + a cohealer).
      Outside of that, the extra healing is kind of overkill for a casual plan, though it can be useful to spread a super shield to guarantee your party makes it to your prog point or sees a further point in a fight.
      You can actually cheese a lot of Normal content due to the way that most debuffs are only applied if you take direct damage to your HP. If you have a large enough shield and enough mitigation, such that you take 0 damage to your health, you won't get a debuff applied.
      For example, the Lopporit's expert dungeon that was at the start of 6.0 featured a mechanic at the last boss that placed mines. I noticed that people tended to forget the mines at the front and run into them when they tried to keep hitting the boss, so I used Dissipation and everything else to just super shield and tank the mine freely. Was it needed? No, but it's not like I was doing anything in Expert Roulette as a healer anyways.
      As for dissipating purely for Aetherflow, it depends on what type of party I'm in.
      During prog, I only use it as a recovery tool, mainly after I'm ressed or I mismanaged my AF. Trading your fairy when you have no gauge, mana, and Seraph + Recit are on CD AND there's a raidwide coming up for 3 AF to be used on an emergency indom/soil to try and see further into a pull is a very good trade. Even in cases where we hit enrage and damage needs to be optimized, the first things I prioritize as a healer are my movement + GCD heals. Missing 1-2 Broils & dropping Bio is a much greater loss than stressing about a handful of EDs I lose from holding Dissipation.
      During farm, I still tended to save Dissipation as a recovery tool to try and secure a clear, but some fights are so boring that I did start trying to find when I could dissipate for a free 3 EDs. That said, I find that the gain is minor for most pf / casual parties and are only impactful when you're speedrunning and in a group which plans all their mits&cooldowns, so I tend to prioritize dragging the party to the end of the fight.
      TL;DR, yea there's a couple cases where Dissipation is useful as a recovery tool. Using it to grab 3 extra EDs is mainly reserved for speedkilling / optimization.

    Not a massive SCH main (I dabble) but I'd like a change to Energy Drain to increase the potency of the next GCD; healing or damage. Or something similar. 30% would make the damage approximately equivalent to current when used with broil. Fits the theme better in my opinion and gives it flexibility. ED + Adlo/Succor for massive shield or (when comfy) with Biolysis or Broil for damage.

    • @rivvysenpai
      @rivvysenpai 5 місяців тому +2

      This would make things way worse for the job, effectively all this would do is make healing even more punishing to the job as doing anything other than spending gauge on ED is a massive dmg loss. @TheHellsOutsider This is under the assumption the 100 ED potency is untouched and its a pick and choose system you're proposing rather than a heres both, but to elaborate. SCH is the only healer atm that trades potential damage for potential healing, adding any damage increases to ED means healing with any gauge ability is a even bigger damage loss than it already is. Ontop of GCD healing being a dmg loss entirely, and its just a lose lose situation. (I think lvl 100 sch broil is 315 potency, but let's assume it is, each energy drain under your concept turns a broil cast into 409.5 potency, thats a gain of 94.5 per usage, so each ED not spent for dmg purposes is a nearly 100 potency loss. Not including the ED cast potency itself mind you.) Think of it kinda like TBN, if your shield doesn't break you end up losing alot of potency, same concept here applies with SCHs ED vs healing.
      Id have to imagine the reason it works this way is to compensate for SCH having a raid buff vs SGE. But ultimately the current job philosophy has too much friction with itself, which is unfortunate.

    • @TheHellsOutsider
      @TheHellsOutsider 5 місяців тому

      @@rivvysenpai I'm saying instead of the current potency; which would keep it almost the same as it is now but give more versatility if used with healing. In top level play, it wouldn't change much but at prog, a buffed Adlo/succor can mean the difference between this an the next mechanic. Because as it is now is, as you said, a damage loss no matter what. I agree a better rework would be better but they took it away and people complained that there was no damage spender so they put it back. I'm saying this is a more versatile alternative to what it is now. Not a perfect fix which I don't know what would be one other than possibly letting Aetherflow be a 2 step activation with the first on a healing ability and then that triggers a use of ED. But then you're using healing abilities just to get another ED so........as long as there is a damage option on ED, it's always gonna be a give and take.

To balance it out, maybe reduce the uptime from 15 to 10 seconds, or nerf the Potency slightly down to like 120 or even 100 per tick, and it would be a way better and more fun way of spending Aetherflow, while having the option to uptime the Debuff on single target, or having more options on when to use it, like in Dungeons or any content where you deal with a good chunk of Mobs.
    For how its in the game right now, it doesnt make a lot of sense to me, if it was a very strong single target debuff, then obviously it would be well reserved for things like Bosses or strong Mobs where you could throw it on, but its an AOE debuff ability, locked behind a 2 minute single target debuff, which is just badly designed in my opinion.

      For example, you have a skill that spreads a shield from one target to the whole party. So you use a strong single target shield and spread it.
      But then you have an ability that auto crits a shield spell. So now you have auto crit + shield + spread.
      But wait, you have a buff that trades your fairy for +20% healing. So +20% + auto crit + shield + spread.
      But wait, why spend 2 seconds casting the shield when you can insta cast while moving? Why not add 10% mitigation to make that shield stronger? And another 10% with a speed boost? Why not add another 10% healing to your shield target before spreading? And on and on... The spell chains get redonkulous.
      Or if you just want to sit back and let Eos do the healing, you can do that too.
