This isn't even the best BTBAM album. It was very innovative for its time however. It still is amazing and the lyrics provide great insight on the condition of mankind
The ending of White Walls... 1:00:45. What an ending to a song, what an ending to an ALBUM. Goosebumps all the way to the end. At times melodic, other times aggressive. Subdued, then in-your-face (e.g. the blasts on the cymbal at 1:02:14). It's every emotion of the previous hour crammed into a few minutes. It just absolutely destroys you, breaks you down, then builds you back up. Masterclass of an album.
My sister showed me this album when I was 14 and it changed my musical life forever. While I’m much more of a jazz and funk head these days, this album remains my #1. It showed me music can be more than just predictable 4/4 verse pre chorus chorus refrain. The remastered version they put out completely changed how I hear it. It’s the one album I never tire of
@@DhGate_420 For me Alaska was sick too but Colors was a whole new level. I don't listen to BTBAM's newer albums but can't deny Colors was the most influential album in my life.
I was 19 when they released this album and its the most significant treasure in my possession from my youth..Im 35 now and this album completely blew my mind and gave me a new out look on music and song writing..
Thank you for having this as one single track. Everyone's got playlists with each song to get more clicks but this album is meant to be listened to straight through with no gaps. Absolute masterpiece. Transports me to a simpler time in life when I was an awkward kid in college with no idea what I wanted to do in life.
Honestly this has to be one of my favorite prog albums of all time! On this album BTBAM did the soft parts just as well as the heavy parts and throughout the album really keeps the listener entertained! Some of the odd time signatures on this album are super groovy and get me bopping my head and some of the softer choruses get me singing along!
Seeing this album released at Rocketown was an experience. I won't lie the second I heard the piano I started crying cause it was just such a cool moment. Forever will love this album and BTBAM
This album always reminded me of like if pink floyd was a progressive metal band. lol All those cover albums you can hear the influences from the stuff they grew up on. What a great band. Alaska was the first I heard by them but this one really had me.
This was the next BTBAM album I purchased after The Anatomy Of, it had just been released. I was 16 at the time. It's one of my favorite albums start to finish.
@@mrschneebly9691 I think I started to enjoy the music that BtBaM channelled in a kinda proggy "here's a country/jazz/latin section" way and drifted away from their "core" sound which is like a techy metalcore thing. I think that's actually why I liked prog as a teen -- I just liked tons of different types of music but didn't know where to look for it individually. Hey, does anyone know how to get videos like this to stay on youtube? I took this album and edited it so that there's no screaming, only the clean vocals. But youtube keeps taking it down within a day or two. How does mine get taken down, but this stays up for years?
its just up to the copyright holder and what sorta policy they got for it. This is here only because they are fine with it and monatize it themselves. For example I have edited Alaska album together also but that one is blocked world wide.
@@vela-6 I didnt do anything. Its literally just up to the ones who hold the copyright. Some allow it automatically, some block it on certain countries or just block completely.
They actually came out with a colors 2 a while back. Check it out it's actually a pretty good sequel! It's not as good as colors 1 but close in my opinion!

Going to see this album live tonight, getting so excited that I can experience this 17 years later!
Going on Thursday with my 15 year old daughter. Her first real concert.
How was it??
@@botsbass842 I probably went on a different date, but they blew it out of the water! I went both nights for Colors 1 and 2.

Music could have stopped being made in 2007. This was the achievement of peak music.

I mean, love the album all you want, but the calling it the peak of music is just outright nuts
colors ii exists

Ants of the Sky: 😗👌
But only when paired with Sun Of Nothing.
This album is a masterpiece. I absolutely love Sun of Nothing. Still a sucker for Alaska though.

The end of informal gluttony is just so lovely. One of the best metal albums ever!!!
First time hearing this. Heard good things, downloaded Colors II, excellent. Came straight here. Let's pop this cherry.
Not quite the same but they remind me of Sikth, one of my favourite bands.
To this day, the best album ever created.
Finally giving this a spin after about 10 years of hearing of its acclaim.

Yeah the transition from the piano to the falling-from-the-sky-like guitar chords hook me deeply everytime I loop over the whole album
BTBAM rendered all other metal bands and albums, past and future, redundant. No other metal album has ever been this good, nor will ever be this good.
Pretty bold statement.
You should check out last chance to reasons level 2 and level 3... I hear there's a level 4 coming soon

Back on my yearly Colors replay. But the ending on white walls hit me fully for the first time today. What the fuck is that outro, holy shit
My musical journey started 40 years ago was always meant to land me on Colors / Colors II by the BTBAM.
My guitar instructor turned me onto this band & this album specifically. Lots to listen to & process. But, off the cuff, I really like!
A friend recommended this to me the other day as I hadn't heard of them before but this album is great!!
ive edited automata, colors 2, and the great misdirect as well which are all great.
I always disliked the gaps between start and finish on the cd because these tracks were meant to be segued. Thanks a lot!
