- A full in depth review of the Oath of Kärnan, an absolutely insane Gerstlauer hyper coaster located in Northern Germany. This ride is unlike any other I've ever seen, and simply put, is not talked about enough!

Coaster enthusiast's hearts don't thump because of the rollercoaster, but because of what row they'll get!
That is indeed very accurate
I love your reviews dude haha your excitement for the rides always shines through.
HAHAHAHA! Hearing you Americans pronounce Hansa Parks Coaster Names is the funniest ever. Im german,so here is an explenation:
Dare Shvoor des Carenan
Dare Flooch von Novgorod
Got it?😂
that is actually pretty helpful lol

Rode this finally today for the first time. Only had two rides, but was lucky enough to get front row and back row.
As someone who knows a lot of German, I can say that the way you pronounced the name of the ride, that was actually pretty accurate.
In the front it's more rough as in the back.
But the word 'family thrill ride' is maybe a little bit too low if you sit in the last row and you ride through the overbanked turn😅
I have ridden it this summer and really liked it (top 2 in Germany)
Sadly it has a shitty capacity.
Great review but I'm still wating for GeForce I Love this ride so much😍
I guess the main reasons why not so many people talk about it is because a) It isn´t in America, b) we don´t have nearly as many coaster enthusiasts that actually talk and make content on the Internet and c) because it is made by Gerstlauer. To me it feels like that many Enthusiasts just don´t see them as one of the companies they whant to see build a new coaster, at least not yet, I guess the mindset of many is "Oh, it´s just another Gerstlauer Infinity" without ever realizing how great the ride actualy is.
Does the dumbwaiter where you place your loose articles have buttons for it to go up and down like an elevator?
Ur my favorite youtuber. I wish I could see you one time.
Looks awesome.
I love it when you say stupid fast
Fun Fact: The tower of the coaster has twice the height of the actual "Kärnan" tower.
Maybe the intention behind the photo being on the break session is “to capture the face of riders after all the ride”. Still a questionable choice though
They actually installed a screen at the top of the lifthill facing down. Don't know when that happened
Rode it friday, spoiler free and I absolutely loved it! Hard to decide if i like this more or Taron.
I wonder if the takibisha clone that’s coming to NJ next year will be sort of like this.
Regarding the row selection, this is not random. It is choosen by the weight of the four people in a row. that way the weight is distributed so even as possible.. I read it somewhere, but now i cannot find it :-)
Well then I guess I got really lucky to get first row on my first ride haha
Not an experience I'd like to do again tho, I blacked out pretty hard xD
Either that’s a really tall person or their restraint is lose! Lol 0:43
Kärnan is my number 3 in europe^^
does this make your top 25?
0:12
I must say you are very harshly marking European coasters, like our best ones are getting refused tens for petty parts that have been overlooked on some of the not as good American ones you’ve given tens for
Agreed. It's crazy how much he praised it and still refused to give it a 10
I rarely give out 10's. When you have ridden almost 600 coasters, you tend to be critical. It's part of the job. I am here to point out what is done well and what could be done better. I'm not biased for or against a coaster just because of what country its in. That'd be ridiculous.
Anyway the only coaster to deserve a 10 is Flying Fish at Thorpe Park X-D
You can't forget that some of his American coaster reviews are older and then he hadn't ridden as many coasters and also he might have a different opinion in the past.
@@Fluorineer ride Twisted Timbers and you'll see what he means. Actually in all honesty pretty much all 4 RMCs I've ridden are better than most coasters including ones that are twice their size. They are just really unique, extremely forceful, well paced, comfortable, and well designed. I would give Twisted Timbers a perfect 10 and KD isn't my home park, so no home park hype here. Only been there once. Twisted Timbers is coaster perfection. It's only flaw is that noisy lift. Its almost as good as I305. The pacing, drop, airtime, laterals, transitions, inversions, speed, ride quality, layout, elements, and intensity are perfect. It actually surprised me because just looking at it from the ground I wasn't expecting that much. I knew it would be good but I wasn't expecting it to instantly become my favorite over Twisted Colossus.

Hit or miss
I bet they never miss huh
You should really also translate mph to km/h.
Do a review from baron 1898 from the efteling
I will eventually
@@CoasterStudios and do also a review from goliath, robin hood or lost gravity from walibi holland
Did u go on fluch von novgorod at hansa park if so can u do a review on it plzz
Ben Reay of course I did, why would I skip it? It was fantastic, and i'll be sure to review it eventually
Coaster Studios thx
hit or miss i guess they never miss huh
I like novgorod more i was yesterday there
Tallest vertical lift in the world ?
The only way to go faster in germany while staying on the ground is the Autobahn (or silver star/ R.I.P ring racer)
Silverstar isn´t faster than Kärnan!
the stats that both of the parks give were 127km/h when i cheked
but Kärnan has a way higher average speed
i am driving 250km/h every third day i think^^
Coaster Bot pronounced it better :)
I expected nothing less
Thanks ;)
Well karon is now spoiled
Hey, I gave people a warning!
I know, but I know that I will never ride it, so now I really know how good it is
2:48 Jesus, I'm sorry for you. The third row isnt the best. It shakes and shakes at every point. Hope you could drive another row.
I wonder if anyone has actually peed there pants on the lift hill?
How do they “assign” the rows?
you enter a small round room with 4 doors. There you stand in 4 rows and sound plays as a light symbol goes around the room. The symbol stops on a door which opens, then the floor lits up beneath one row of people. That row of people has to go through the open door, and you enter the train there.
@@PupScion thanks!
There is also a video showing it. In poor quality though. ua-cam.com/video/Ym8vVGRoVC0/v-deo.html#
Couldn't you just let someone else on the train until theres room in the front? Or are the ride ops nazis (no pun intended)
I agree, Kärnan is stupidly intense and fast! I wouldn't say it's rough, one of the train has a bad vibration but the others are generally fine (not glass smooth though but I wouldn't expect it to be).
COASTER BOT I must've gotten that same train ever time then😂
No Gerstache? Saw would be a great ride without it. I swear that first drop inside is so forceful it feels like the car's been physically pushed down...
@@visionist7 In my opinion, the best first drop in germany is on Expedition GeForce in the back row. Espacially if you are riding it for the first time.
@@accountdeactivated5486 point taken. When I ride it I'll choose the back row first
Yes Harry, your favourite coaster must be good in your opinion.
You did a great job explaining how riding this coaster feels! I've done it for the first time a couple weeks ago and the whole thing just stuck with me. I think "insane" really is the best word to describe it. Our second ride was after it got dark out and the train actually has lights on it which are already on when you're inside the tower. Imagine being able to see while *the thing* happens! Also, the ride felt even more intense and fast in the dark. Definitely one of the greatest experience I've ever had on any ride.
Honestly love how you pronounce the name of the ride.
Karnan ;D its Kärnan not Karnan xD

My #1 coaster of all time!
I reckon this ride is one of the most overlooked coasters in the world... I do think the first elevated part looks odd, but after that it is just so quick and intense. Im hoping to see more similar rides by gerstlauer soon.
The theming really seems to steal the show on the awesome ride, between the typical SFX and the unique architecture. Is the entire park like that? It seems pretty elaborate, maybe not Orlando-type stuff, but definitely around the level of something like Busch Gardens or Jungleland Express, formerly at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Late answer but anyways, yes, most of the park is like that. The theming on Kärnan is the second best in my opinion, but believe me the video only showed like 1/8 of the theming in it. it is insanely well executed. The best theming in the park imo is in Der Fluch von Novgorod, which was also build by Gerstlauer, it all just fits in perfectly. Nessie, which is a really old looping coaster recently got a new Station, Theme and Soundtrack so it also is really good. These are the three main coasters in the park, all perfectly themed. Other rides in the park are also well themed, but not as high level as these three, which is reasonable i think. Overall in my opinion Hansa Park's theming is right on top of what you'll find anywhere. Definetly worth a visit.
I rode this thing like a month ago and I agree, it was incredible! But it was very crowded that day, so I only got to ride it two times. Both times I got put in row 3 just like your 5 first rides. And by the way, it goes vertical.
Bro, on an empty day with basically 0 waiting time I was put in row 3, 7 times in a row... row 3 is the worst row and it's like a curse man.
Best coaster ever!! I’ve ridden it this year, and was absolutely blown away by Kärnan! Everything you say in this video is right, it’s amazing! #WeNeedAKärnanInEveryPark
This is the infinity coaster model that Gerstlauer came up with a few years ago, and it is literally the only infinity coaster from them that is to this scale. It's insane, and there is nothing like it. Sure, you have HangTime at Knotts' Berry Farm, which has that 96 degree drop and a unique layout, but really, I think this is the most unique and best infinity coaster Gerstlauer has created.
If only Smiler had this sort of height to play with. Really wanna ride this now
Uhh, Hangtime is a dive coaster. It holds you over the drop.
@@visionist7 if only Six Flags or Cedar Fair want to one-up Smiler that much...
But then again, it would quickly deplete the marketing gimmick for "most inversions in The Americas/North America/USA" at 10-14 inversions
@@swickzy9250 but the model is infinity coaster
Hagan Werner so its the Infinity model but acts as a dive coaster
I rode it today and it was reeeeaaally good!! Probably the most intense Coaster I've ridden. :D
Funnily enough, when I rode it with my family (and a friend), we actually got selected for the first row! The problem was, that my sister didn't want to go on the first row, because she thought it was too scary (don't judge her, please). Fortunately, we got permission to go to a different row.
In the end we enjoyed our ride, but my mother got a bad headache and didn't want to ride any more intense rides for the rest of the day, except for her favourite - Nessie.
What do you call a Granny who is a professional racer?
Car-nan
Its kärnan stupid
@@ii-report-me-ii7622 r/whooosh
What should I say. I had over 100 rides on Kärnan meanwhile. The coaster is just awesome. I really love it and yes I still love the freefall part and I do not want to skipp it. I like this moment when the music gets more dramatic and you go up again and then you fall down. Yaaaah.... insane coaster!
One of the most intense roller coasters you've ridden? Wow!
But not Skull Mountain level of intensity, right?
Wayyy more intense imo
Skull mountain is tame lol
Bruh he's joking, look at his name
*Infinite 1 looks too- wait actually it’s amazing*
Dude, same row 5 times in a row on a four row ride? That’s literally a 1 in 1000 chance of that happening!
As an American who has been speaking German for 6 years, you definitely tried your best Taylor 😂😂
Ich fand es cool - gibt so viele Reviewer, die das gar nicht erst versuchen ;-)
See, I’m one of those people who like to get a feel for a ride before going on the most intense row, so if I really like a coaster on a middle row, I’ll be like yeah cool, I’ll try a front or back row, so I imagine I would be especially nervous going on this 😬
No, we need more Lech Coasters here, or any of the new Vekoma models. I just REALLY want to see one of those here in the U.S.
As a resident of Schleswig-Holstein I still need to process the fact that people from all over the world are now visiting Hansa-Park. Until they opened "Fluch von Novgorod" (Curse of Novgorod) back in 2009 the Park was widely considered a pure Family Park with the only more intense ride being Nessie the Schwarzkopf Looping Coaster.
They still need a Wooden Coaster though... We're having too few of those in Germany.
That's funny. I've been to the park yesterday and this is excactly what i thought. Maybe GCI-Wodan-Style in a 'more' family friendly way (not as tall, as fast, etc.). They can't add just another thrill coaster that's as thrilling as Kärnan. The biggest group of visitors in the park are families with kids around 3-10. They need to add something that's for this group as well. As much as i would like them to go big with their next coaster, i don't believe in it. Question: Would a GCI Woodie be less durable at Hansa Park because of the salty sea air? I don't know!
@@johanneskerkloh4340 Depends on the Coating and the level of maintenance I guess. If they screw it up like the guys at Heide-Park the coaster would unlikely make it far past 10 years before a total overhaul would become necessary. Then again steel does also corrode easily in such a climate so the Park should already be used to tightened maintenance schedules
So glad that you liked my favorite coaster. Many enthusiasts criticize the ride for being rough at some points and because of the long lift
Glad to hear that you liked it! It's my favorite ride in Europe :) But I don't know why not many people talk about it or like it. It's just insane!
Hi Taylor, could you add metric values to the info above? Having to convert them distracts me too much of watching the video since this is a European review I can imagine many people watching this have this. Apart from that, good video as always
Around 73 meters tall and 129km/h for speed.
my nr.1!!!
The theming looks so cool
Today I did Kärnan 8 times and I think the rows are not really randomized. At lane 1 and 2 (on the leftside in the room where the rows get chosen) there will always be a row which will be assigned with the front row. It's defenitely a front row ride and with all the theming, lifthill and what happenends inside it's for me one of the best rollercoaster I've ridden. Better than Taron for me :)
Another excellent review! Good coverage of every aspect of this very unique ride :)
Really good video and review as always. But, why don't you show the trains in detail? For me, it's something crucial due to my "special" size. When you ride a coaster that's supposed to be great, the overall experience can be ruined by the trains and specially by these old B&M over the shoulder restrains, for example, that can be hurtful sometimes. Take this into account for your next videos, please.
has to be my number 1 roller coaster. simply because of the complete experience.
I'm waiting your top 50 coasters in the world after the european trip!!
Taylor that non-inverting sea serpent is called an octopus arm by Gerstlauer
Great Review of this awesome ride!
I'm so lucky to have this thing at my home park.
Had a blast riding it with you!
They do have a video now, when you’re on the lifthill, which makes it more dramatic.. This is my favorite roller coaster on our trip, and we did Europa Park, Phantasialand and Hansa Park.. 2nd best must be Taron and then Wodan..
The pronounciation was actually pretty good ;). And hell yes, this coaster Rocks and in my Opinion, it's the best one in germany besides EGF
I'm actually going to hansa park this year and I'm definitely not going on kärnen since I have asthma 😅
I watched this wonderful video in the khe. My mother is not the best in English but where you said Der Schwur des Kärnan has laughed so well. For that you are American you can pronounce that really well. what you have to practice is Schwur. but that is complain at a high level. Keep it up, I like your videos
I'd love to see a top 10 Infinity Coasters list! You know... if you're board... during a pandemic
waited almost 1 hour to get on the coaster, and then in the building u just keep going up then down up down and then it starts without expecting it and that makes it even more scary.
Great video! (...to be honest, as always..;) Luckily i was able to get some audio from the inside of the tower during an maintenance stop. The ride Op‘s, cool dudes by the way took us to the inside of the tower during reboot and let us take pictures. I used the chance to get this great audio captured.
Give it a 10, it’s not rough at all, just some really brutal direction changes, but these are fun
Unpopular opinion: In Kärnan I really prefer 4th row as the ride is even more intense there :D
This ride is in roblox lol
It's one of my favourite Coasters!
in terms of the best row, i got to disagree.
in my view the back row is the best row, especially the further you get to the left seat of that row, back left seat is the best
10:08 So you're trying to Six Flags Karnan?
I always gets so happy when he mentions lagoon, especially cannibal cause that’s my home park and the only amusement part in Utah so I always feel so proud of my park and their in house roller coasters
Germany has also the "Silver Star" in South Germany. They both has the same height.
Oh my god I hate how in steel vengeance you have to wait to get to the top of the drop. Honestly worst element of any coaster
They had a carousel that had you as high as the observation-tower, and it was fairly popular.
But because that massive brick block changed how the wind goes across the park they had to tear the carousel down :/
Some of these European coasters look AMAZING!
how you dare giving it a 9.5! Its the 3d best coaster in the world...
I was lucky when I went, I got assigned the 1st row twice then the back row!
Taylor you have a really taught me to ride in the back row on a RMC and I love it
My favorite coaster so far. This thing es just epic 👌🏻
Your my favorite UA-cam channel and

I have been waiting for months and ... what??

I lovvvved that ride. Best noe ive ever ridden!!
Even though hangtime is short its a good coaster
whats your favourite gerstlauer coaster?

Are you gonna go over the Knotts announcement when it’s out?
Probably not.
i think bc novgorod is still a bit better than carnan
