Michael Jai White also talked about his foray into Bollywood and why he chose to tap into the Indian film market. As the most populated English speaking country in the world, India boasts a population of 1 billion people which makes the film industry over there a bit more lucrative for actors than in Hollywood.

Bollywood isn’t richer than Hollywood but it reaches more people and therefore would expose more people to his brand. Hence the comparison to China. You aren’t making more money in China than America as an athlete but you are getting your brand to more people. More people more reaction which means more money for you. MJW is losing it. Bollywood primarily makes films for India’s culture. For example, you don’t see a Bollywood film about a Canadian man searching for his daughter in Appalachia. Their money also doesn’t have the purchasing power of the American dollar. Chinese companies invest a lot of money in American films relative to anything in Bollywood. Ain’t no that Bollywood, an industry where the majority of its films don’t recoup cost and make a generous profit can touch Hollywood money.

They aren't 4 hours, but more like 2.5-3.5 hours. The reason they're that long is because producers in India (Bollywood is also big in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, not just India) want to give audiences everything for their buck - love story, dance numbers to sell soundtracks, action sequences, etc.
