I'm a RE owner but I saw Ronin in Red and driver it ....Trust me the bike sounds throaty n pleasing . The road presence is really good better than RE. The only drawback i felt it should have a few more bhp's .....But hands down bike is definitely headturner in terms of style
TVS is playing on its strengths here which is the maximum number of features you can get at this price point and also designing this bike very beautifully. Meanwhile , Royal Enfield's USP has been been the engine and so it is also evident here, but to price the Hunter much aggressively, they have done significant amount of cost cutting that is evident when you will take closer look of the bike. So, again TVS wins but nothing to take away from the fact that the Hunter is much Retro of the two in terms of engine performance.
What I really like about TVS is the attention to detail in the design and it’s build. Someday, I hope TVS makes a damn good higher capacity motorcycle that’ll give it global popularity just like RE. Alas, the tank design is a bit odd and that’s the only turn off for me. The RE is more classically handsome. TVS, give us a neo-retro scrambler like a Husky, a good looking adv and a dirt bike rivalling the Xpulse 200!
It is though, I tried it in the showroom on a display bike. The foot position is also nice for tall riders. if you care for your hamstrings, ronin is way to go.
Yes of course Ronin is a much feature rich bike, but i don't like the way it look, so purchased re hunter and it's a better ride on highway for a shorter commute, i daily travel 90 km on it and have no problem at all, yes the suspension are stiff but for solo rider it is not a problem at all, handling is superb and one can very comfortably cruise around 80-100. I personally like hunter very much.
You are losing mileage, comfort and ground clearance...Ronin if the sales figures to be ignored more practical bike just needed to be more refined and 6th gear missing to make it ideal choice
For those who are confused let me tell you my perspective on hunter:- I own a hunter since 1.5 years niw and it is my first bike ever, i even learnt how to ride a bike on hunter itself. I go for off-roading with it and i can very much keep up with my group who have ADVs. The clutch is a little bit of problem but only in heavy traffic, in normal day to day traffic you won't mind it. And rear suspensions are not something that im a fan of. But this bike always puts a smile in my face from the moment i start the engine ! Doesn't matter where i park her, stopping at red lights, or even while riding it everyone turns there head to my bike since it is such a beautiful bike I have even planned that im never going to get rid of this bike even if i buy any new and better bike. When it comes to Ronin, i have no idea 😕
I've seen 3 ronin on road and tbh it doesn't look that disproportionate as many people claim. After test driven the hunter I didn't like it's handling. All RE handles like pig. I know now RE fans will come at me with no rational reason.
Excellent communication and content creation. Particularly this video is awesome. I believe who ever watches this understands the issues with the hunter’s clutch and suspension difficulties.
Everything depends on your perspective, buy the one your heart feels and pocket says. These 2 bikes have well proliferated in the 2 wheeler market though.
Their technology, features, feel and reliability is still light years behind BAJAJ D400 . Bajaj D400 would remain the most under rated and best value for money bike ever offered to Indian market. These bikes 350 cc and still doing 20 Hp and 27 NM. D400 1st Gen was 373 cc shelling out 35 HP and 35 NM and you can literally ride it continuously for long coz it was liquid cooled and had ABS even when it was not mandatory. How about that ...
Could have added Honda CB 350 RS also rather than just saying to see older video with other RE models which has different seating position and different engine characteristics
Rode the Ronin, enjoyed its handling ability, irritated with its lack of top end and didn’t like the design. Rode the Hunter, enjoyed the engine’s ability, loved the design, was disappointed with ground clearance and features. Went ahead with the Hunter. However much I like TVS for their innovation, the Ronin looks terrible. Gosh.
Ronin is great but it is priced on par with hunter that has a bit more powerful engine. Ronin compensates that with features and comfort thereby giving a wholesome experience. If you ride in city and dont travel beyond 300kms in highway, then you should choose between these two. Interesting battle 😎
List of thing to improve on the hunter: 10% more power and torque from the engine (22.2 bhp / 30Nm) 10kg lighter wet weight (171kg instead of 181kg). Lighter clutch action A little more ground clearance from 150 mm to 165 mm (and maybe a little less firm suspension) Adjustable brightness on the display. LED headlight. With these improvement bump up the price from 1.64 to say 1.89.. It would be a bit more of a complete package. Better chance of selling in the US and Europe.
Honestly though i came across both the bikes in person and the Ronin looks like a Failed version of the ZEPPLIN concept & a similar looking riding style to the Avenger. And the Hunter instead looks classy like a british twin(Triumph Bonneville) Which sets it apart and the entire package looks perfect.

TVS should have used same RTR 200 4V engine and normal telescopic suspension instead of USD. That would have helped them to keep the price lower than the current price. Also launched in both 160 and 200 variants would have been a great move. Yamaha also made the same kind of mistake they used a 150 cc engine in fzx instead of 250 cc.

To be very frank, in terms of features, some of the TVS one are unnecessary. Like the 2 modes, no point in having modes in a 20BHP bike, for maps, every rider will surely get a mount installed for mobile. Both the bikes have great instrument panels. Only the slipper clutch is something that really makes the ronin stand out as a superb feature against Hunter. Otherwise, Hunter is a custom king, u cannot really customize ronin as easily as an RE from outside market. GTT again is a gimmick, RE's can easily go without the accelator in 3rd gear. Undoubtedly it's the choice of taste between these 2 since both are top notch.
Completely Agree. One of my old comment Why are manufacturers and reviewers giving so much importance to Bluetooth functionality and USD. I don't know man, you seem to be strawmanning a lot here. If you can lose the traction on the rear, it needs modes. Indian metros have roads bad enough to cause traction loss on the light and peppy Ronin. Phones now have OIS, and it is recommended to not mount them on handlebars. It's good to have directions on the console. That's exactly why quite a few RE bikes came with tripper as standard not the chip shortage made it go away and now they see the tripper as a business opportunity. And how many newcomers exactly will customise their bike to bits? And hunter being a custom King? It's probably the least customisable as the classic and meteor from the RE family have a huge headstart and hunter will have to catch up. And rest assured,GTT is not a gimmick. It works just like the ones on Suzuki bikes with big engines amongst others. RE can pull that load thanks to the torque and the heavy clutch. But as he said, heavy clutch for a city bike in the hands of youngsters? To be fair. Both bikes are more cash grab than anything else. The compromises way too significant. Especially with hunter. Now only if RE put 17 inch wheels on more of their bikes.
@@aamir.khan.1991 @Aamir Khan Yes I agree the reason behind providing directions on the dash is a good feature. But even on the big ADVs, majority people use mounts, even use iphones as their GPS. Probably the reason being, maps are a lot more easier than just directions. Neither the tripper nor the Ronin would be a great option for their direction features. I personally don't find these both machines producing that much of issues due to traction, since I have ridden duke 250 a lot, one if the peppiest of the lot. These 20BHPs won't create any issues in most of the cases, hence modes are just a feature to put on a paper as compared to its real utility. The one big thing that hunter loses on is the slipper, it's painful with that clutch on my daily commute, love that huge torque though, absolutely doesn't require shift. And yeah, not just the hunter but the entire RE lineup is custom king, as a huge options are easily available in market for whatever customs you ask for, as compared to ronin. However, customization is a specific choice, but a lot them want that option open. Both these machines are very well built for sure and are available in a very good price bracket, no wonder which will be more seen on the roads.
I would go for class over features... Even though ronin has great features, since childhood Royal enfield is something every guy wants to own first with own money. I feel features will fade off with time. What you need is that aura wen u ride an enfield.
Such a generic statement isnt true. Assuming you mean those who ride bikes for touring - the Hunter isnt really like the RE of old. They would be disappointed with the Hunter as its made for a different audience. They would stick with the RE Classic or Meteor. Those who need a great riding exp in the city would go for TVS Ronin.
I have to buy bike for daily commute of 150km(75goinh and 75return) mostly on highway. I am slim and 5.5". I want comfortable bike for daily commute of 150km without bodyache and back pain..

TVS really knows their stuff but what is up with the Einfield an dual shocks?
Ronin will Rock soon❤️💥
I would go for class over features...
Even though ronin has great features, since childhood Royal enfield is something every guy wants to own first with own money.
I feel features will fade off with time. What you need is that aura wen u ride an enfield.
Much needed comparo
TVS Ronin chain cover from TVS XL
Very balanced review. 👌
Passionate bikers will go for hunter than Ronin
Such a generic statement isnt true. Assuming you mean those who ride bikes for touring - the Hunter isnt really like the RE of old. They would be disappointed with the Hunter as its made for a different audience. They would stick with the RE Classic or Meteor. Those who need a great riding exp in the city would go for TVS Ronin.
My younger brother bought Ronin TD, Awesome bike...
I have Tvs Ronin and trust me it’s best bike
