- In 2008, Lauren Holiday, Tobin Heath and Amy Rodriguez were the New Kids on the U.S. WNT. As usual, there’s another generation of talented players coming through the ranks of the National Team. We took time out to meet the NEW New Kids, 22-year-old Julie Johnston, 21-year-old Morgan Brian and 22-year-old Crystal Dunn, all of whom were key members of the USA’s 2012 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup champions.

Ok I know looks aren't much when it comes to soccer but they (USWNT) are almost all so pretty! Solo, Morgan, O'hara, Press, Leroux, Johnston, etc etc

Def miss her ability to serve balls in the box. Haven't been as strong on set pieces without her or Rapinoe.

It's interesting how Crystal was the last of the "NEW" New Kids to make her way on to the USWNT fulltime, but she might wind up being the BEST out of them all. The way she moved from defender to forward & she even plays the top when Alex is out is pretty incredible. She has a relentless motor & her service game is on point, she can get a shot off in a heartbeat even in tight places & her power is NUTS. She really is one of the most versatile players (although I don't think ANYBODY can top Heath). The USWNT is just such a JOY to watch & these 3 young ladies are going to make the team that much better. I wonder what they are going to call Pugh, Horan & Sanchez (when she get's the call), the new Embyo's????

HAO hahaha. Such a bright future for this team. Morgan, Leroux and Press up top, Brian as holding midfield, and Johnston as part of the back four!! Of course all the players are fantastic but the young, up and coming ones are showing that they can carry the legacy on the USWNT in to the future! It takes a team to will. #ibelievethatwewillwin

Cant speak for women's soccer, but other countries' mens teams have a pipeline just as strong. One game at a time.

U-17 WNT doesn't qualify for World Cup. U-20 WNT gets eliminated in quarter finals of World Cup. Full WNT continues to play veterans and rarely gives playing time to younger players that deserve it. Look at France, Germany for example, they're bringing in players from their U-20 squad in for the full team and giving them minutes. There's a lack of development for the US, future (as a team, not individual talent) isn't so bright.
***** now that I think about it you do have a point, when tom sermanni was coach I saw alot of new players get playing time(including these girls) now with jill ellis I rarely see new players and the one I do see are 25+, I still dont see why they let him go

chinanl02 Alex Morgan caught my attention because she was really cute. I fell in love because she was actually REALLY good. Lol.
Real good? She scored 2 goals all WC long.(Semi & final) She was the youngest on the team back then, and was a bench player. She had everyone's attention because of her looks, and still til this day it's the same. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of her too...but back then, she was the 'stand out' player of the uswnt...because of her amazing good looks.

LOL, Cheney has been the most consistent player out of the 'New 3' international-wise. Tobes has been injured a lot and A-Rod flat out shouldn't even be on the WNT considering the fact that she just isn't a top-flight consistent international scorer.
15 goals for the season 3 goals in the playoffs 2 gold medals and she outplayed your girl press
But you gotta give A-Rod credit for coming back so strong, especially in the NWSL, after having her son
Christen Press is wayyyy better than ARod. ARod got a ton of opportunities this season because she was FCKC's lone striker and had great support from Cheney and Tymrak. Press didn't get anywhere near the support ARod got. Besides Press played a lot lesser games.
definitely disagree I would not drop Christen she is legit. I think that A-Rod should replace Syd. Syd is the one that I think isn't consistent so I say keep A-Rod and cut Syd.

Neecey222 yea they all play for different teams in club level and it is different because in national team level you face just about every country in the world from time to time but in club level you on play on a league and compete with outside clubs on tournaments if that makes sense
It makes sense. So the only time they all play together is for the World Cup and the Olympics?
yea and some times there are other cups they compete in as well and also on friendlies but those are used to test players and formations

Man, Jules is great, Brian (as I like to call her so as to not get her confused with another great young American player, Morgan Andrews, who is at Notre Dame) is OK, I guess, but Dunn is just another one of the long line of UNC alums who have the personality of a cardboard box (Ash and Whit-Whit excluded, of course).
