The game against Villa in midweek took a lot out of team you could tell with players cramping up towards the last 10 to 15 minutes the only fault I would say was the team that was selected against Everton and the Raphinha change at half time.

I think against Liverpool we have to play an alternative team, even if that leads us to lose 14 - 0. Players need to be rested for games where there's at least a bit of hope of getting something

I'd bet nearly anything Bielsa is the right man to keep us up but I dont think we'll get to the top 6 like Radrizzani wants with Bielsa. He's done a brilliant job but his policy of working with a small squad won't work in the long run. I think he should leave as a hero in the summer

If we had, had most of our first team squad fit and healthy and things were as they are then yes it would probably have been time for Bielsa to go and he would probably have thought the same. But that's not the case. Radrizzani said the days of signing quantity over quality are over. But quality is much harder to sign than quantity. First those players have to want to come. Second their clubs have to be willing to sell them. Third we have to compete with other clubs who might have something more to offer. Once Atletico Madrid stepped in our chances of getting De Paul and Cunha were gone. Their agents would have known of the interest and told their players to wait. That is the market place we are now in and that is what we are going to have to get used to and live with. While most of us would give our right arm to pull on that shirt players are not like that they have a career to think about. When/if we achieve what Radrizzani and the 49ers are after then getting quality will be easier because we will be able to bring more to the table.

Yes we've seen a few youngsters this season but do you think we would've seen them if most of our small squad wasn't on the injury list? We're they given much of a chance when they did play? Would Bielsa start rotating if we had a bigger squad, I can't see it. He has done fantastic things for us, no doubt. But unless we don't have injuries ( which are inevitable under these methods) then the team looks lost. I cant see how we get to this next level that Radrizzani talks about

    • @LeedsFanTV
      @LeedsFanTV  2 роки тому +1

I agree with you. If we did have a bigger squad I don’t think he will rotate because he’s not known for a manager to rotate.

@@LeedsFanTV Marcelo definitely suited our needs in the championship with a small squad. Last season we did well too it must be pointed out. But even during those times we suffered from lack of rotation and different ideas. I'm starting to think maybe he has taken the team as far as he can. Some players don't deserve to play as often as they have. Others sit about, frustrated at not getting a look in. The fact that only one or two names in the world are good enough for our system would suggest its maybe the system that is the problem. Plenty of managers are making things happen with players we deemed not worthy of signing. There's just no way MB can convince me nobody out there is better than Klich and Rodrigo or even Forshaw. Our midfield has been non existent all season and now we're the whipping boys being dismantled by average teams. Major change is needed this summer. Either a new manager or at least Bielsa has to accept that he can't play the same 11 until they're all injured. That's my stance at the minute

    • @stephenhodgson3506

Bielsa has shown throughout his career as a manager that he feeds young players in gradually. The key moment for young talent with Bielsa isn't during the season but rather in pre-season. He has his stats that he has always relied on and from those stats he determines during a pre-season if a player is ready, needs more development, won't make it or if an established player if it's time for them to go.
The problem we have had this season is that the side has had to be changed week after week because of injuries and sometimes during games. Unsettled sides struggle as we saw with Liverpool last season and they had Salah playing for them. When we got the settled back five of Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Struijk and Alioski with Phillips in front of them at the end of last season we had the second best defence in the league. It's all very well talking about a bigger squad but we already have five central defenders. Unless you are playing European football players are simply not happy to come and sit on the bench and rotating the squad during league games has exactly the same effect of players getting injured. Consistency is the key and both regular injuries and squad rotation takes away the possibility of consistency
Other top sides play with the same level of intensity, because their coaches are disciple of Bielsa, and they don't pick up injuries like we have been having this season. I do wonder if the new pitch is having an impact and the groundsmen haven't yet got it bedding in to the same standards at Thorpe Arch. The old ploughed field we had should have had a major impact on players welfare but they were used to that pitch so their bodies automatically made allowances for that.
The fact that when others have been available that Klick has started on the bench and with is age I suspect that his days maybe numbered and that might be the case with some of the other thirty year olds. As I said earlier for some of the older players the next pre-season might be their last. It is also worth mentioning that Bielsa doesn't seem to need long to decide if a player is or will soon be good enough based on how he recruited Pochettino as a young player. He only got five minutes and was signed.

@@stephenhodgson3506 considering this is Bielsa's longest stint in club management and no youth player has nailed a first team position (Strujik maybe, but we'll see what happens when Cooper is fit) I'm a bit sceptical about the youth getting their chance.
I'm not sure you can blame the injuries on the Elland road pitch. We've had injuries at Thorp Arch and on the road too. Id say the training methods as well as constantly playing the same players until they get injured is a more realistic reason. It's the reason other top managers choose to rest their players when necessary.
Also, I've yet to see any of Bielsa's disciples copy the 13/14 man squad per season. Pep and Poch being the best examples. Plenty of rotation, plenty of squad depth and usually good results along with it.
You say rotation takes away the possibility of consistency, yet City are running away with the league by rotating almost every week. Can you honestly say that a fool proof plan for Leeds is to hope and pray all season long that our first 11 don't get injured despite training relentlessly and playing every week? We've had injury problems from season one right through until now and that's not going to magically disappear in the summer.

@@EllandRoar84 I seem to remember a young lad called Kalvin Phiilips making it. How many of those young lads were there when Bielsa took charge? Most of them have been brought in since Bielsa arrived in conjunction with Orta. You're sceptical about youth getting a chance but the club have just broken the Premier League record for the number of debuts in a season by young players.
You say other managers rest their players how many games a season does Salah play? or van Dijk or Robertson, or Mane. With the exception of injuries, suspensions or an up coming European game Klopp puts the same side out week after week and they play high press.
Phillips, Cooper and Struijk were all injured at Elland Road as was Bamford on his comeback. All four were injured turning. Cresswell had somebody fall on him. Rodrigo hurt his foot at Elland Road.
Since when did we have a 13/14 man squad? Last time I counted there were nineteen older players and eight U23's.
Are you seriously suggesting that if even City lost eleven of their main starters they would still be running away with the league? Liverpool didn't have as many injuries last season as we have had this season and they were struggling and many wondered if they would make the top four.
City happen to have accumulated a squad of internationals six of their players have played more than twenty league games this season and a further six have played almost twenty. So they are not changing that much so they do have that consistency of players playing regularly.
