Reconfiguring the Computa Pranksta for use as a USB Mouse Jiggler to keep your screensaver off

  • To keep your screensaver off (your computer permanently awake), sometimes people need a good "mouse jiggler" to just wiggle their mouse for them automatically every now and then. Software mouse jigglers are sometimes forbidden on corporate computers because you don't have sufficient rights to install them, so hardware mouse jigglers like this are used instead.
    Simply buy a Computa Pranksta prank device / mouse jiggler on Amazon here: amzn.to/2terh6M, then follow this video tutorial to reconfigure it as a mouse jiggler tool rather than a prank device.
    Thanks, and enjoy!

      If you have a Linux operating system, such as Ubuntu, email me your Amazon order number and I'll give you instructions. If you have a different type of computer, you may just have to request a refund, unfortunately, as the device may be dead. See my FAQ here: "I've been using the device happily for a month now, but suddenly it stopped working. What do I do?" github.com/ElectricRCAircraftGuy/eRCaGuy_ComputaPranksta_Support/issues/5.

    can you program the jiggler to move randomly, not just left and right on certain intervals ? Also, can you program to move the mouse randomly let's say 15 minutes or 30 minutes, and then have it stop for 7-10 minutes, and then jiggle again randomly ?

      Use Mouse Move Mode 1 (randomMouseJumpAround) and 2 (randomMouseBuzzAround) to get random movement. See all modes here: www.electricrcaircraftguy.com/2017/04/computa-pranksta-user-manual.html. As for making it active continually for 15 to 30 minutes, then off for 7-10, then on again, I *could* do that so long as I remove other features too, as the device is 100% full, but currently the product does not support that feature.

      @@ElectricRCAircraftGuy Can you program it like you said removing unwanted features like drawing on the screen ? I'm interested in random, pause, random features mostly. And be able to program these intervals and randomness of movement.

      @@ElectricRCAircraftGuy Ordered Arduino Leonardo from Amazon today, downloaded Arduino development software tool and i'm going to program my own. Glad I did not purchase your little device. Cheerz.

      @@youtub3ian728 I love the Arduino Leonardo! I think that's great. Here's a mouse move function you're going to need ( www.arduino.cc/reference/en/language/functions/usb/mouse/mousemove/ ), and I don't know what your level of coding experience is, but Blink ( www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/blink ) and Blink without Delay ( www.arduino.cc/en/tutorial/BlinkWithoutDelay ) are two extremely helpful getting-started tutorials for Arduino in general. Lastly, I've compiled a bunch of useful Arduino programming resources at the bottom of my article here: www.electricrcaircraftguy.com/2014/01/the-power-of-arduino.html. Arduino is a powerful tool and I'm sure you'll gain some very valuable experience with it and learn some great new skills to benefit the world.

    Does it work with XP?

      It should. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. If it doesn't for some reason, you can always return it.

    what are the default settings? is it annoying enough defaulted? cause I want it to twitch the mouse a lot and type random stuff... will it do that out of the box?

    • @ElectricRCAircraftGuy
      @ElectricRCAircraftGuy  4 роки тому

      Search this page (www.electricrcaircraftguy.com/2017/04/computa-pranksta-user-manual.html) for the word "(DEFAULT)" to see all the default settings. It drags the mouse slowly to the bottom-left corner, and types 1 to 10 random characters every 1 to 10 seconds. Just plug it in. It's automatic. Yes, that's pretty annoying by default, especially for the people who want this as a mouse jiggler not a prank device, which is most people. :)
