The good thing about the Australian media is that they ask tough questions of their players, and aren't afraid to call them out on their behaviour. Credit to Clarke for doing the interview as well. Way different to NZ where the media are just sycophants and totally biased.
After reading autobiographies from the great Cricket players along with following their interviews and stories etc. This sledging from Clarke is relatively minor compared to in the past.
I am an Indian but Ashes to me is THE series to watch. Australia have been my favourite team for a very long time now (along with South Africa) and obviously I was cheering for Aussies but this incident kinda hurt me. Aussies are so good at the sport so I never understood the need for sledging to begin with.
So, Clarke's ONLY regret was telling Anderson what Johnson's plan was! No doubt he would have put this down to 'banter' if Johnson HAD actually broken his arm. The man's a disgrace, still when you have crime in your genes, what do you expect?
Johnson may not have broken Anderson's arm but he broke Anderson's rib. Hahaha. Get out of here pommy, I wouldn't be pointing the finger if I were you. Cough, cough Stuart Broad, cough cough...*
It's setting a bad example. Especially as a captain. It's not what the sport is about. Maybe in football or you Australian football but not cricket. Australia is the tumour of this planet
Clarke You are a legend and Its good that you accepted being regretful. it’s not sth a youngster aussie would like to look up to. Current Aus team is far away from what is was like in Clarke’s time. Ashes at Aus would be interesting to see 😊
Newsflash - Feb 9th 2021 Sir Jimmy Anderson rattles off 2 Indian batsmen who had been instrumental in beating Australia on their home turf a couple of months earlier. In one over. At the age of 38. Who are these retired Australians again?
Clarke has had to show contrition on many occasions, certainly as captain. Having someone like Ponting as a leader didn't really offer many examples of humility and sportsmanship, but it taught him how to be ruthless and a world class batsman. I personally think like a lot of word class sportsmen, he has a different side to him on and off the field. He speaks well and often says the right things when it's time to be contrite. But he'll always cross the line on the field.
I think the ACB and Australian media tend to put too much pressure on their teams and players. Not balancing it out with actually building them up. Resulting in some dodgy behaviour sometimes or general fallouts. I also think the pressure and captaincy broke guys like Ponting, Clarke, and even Smith. Guys like Steve Waugh thrived on it though. But guys like Waugh, with that strong mental toughness is rare. Most guys need to know you stand behind them, especially in the tough periods. I dont think they get that in Australia. Btw: I am not Australian.
Clarke is a strong character who sticks to his principles. Nothing wrong with what he said. I hated him when he was playing and that was because I felt he was was one of the toughest nuts to crack in the opposition. And that's the greatest compliment I can give him.
people be saying he regrets saying it but he really means he wanted to stand up for his players and he wanted him to know that he wasn’t gonna take that from then and hurt his players

A1r80rn3 Australians are famous in terms of sledging. I respect Brett Lee, Gilchrist. Look at these players. No matter they score or not their manner their sportsmanship and respecting opposition will never be forget. Thats why they will always be a legend a classy player and once u start scoring runs.. u r certainly a legend having all those qualities. Australians shud learn these etiquettes from their former players n follow them. Ponting Clarke n Now Smith.. no matter they play well but u will never be remembered then wts the benefit of representing your country and then shaming it coz of sledging.
This is not called as sledging. This is called Abusing. Something which Australians need to be educated about.
I don't think he was an effective captain or leader, but during the end of the video he makes some good points. Players should be assessed by their overall performance, not moments or individual innings.
He is full of humbleness.... Great!
So Mitchell Johnsons plan was to break Andersons arm? That is what Clarke has just said here. Bodyline anyone?
They even had a leg slip while bowling round the wicket.
This was blown way out of proportion.
Clarke and Australia went on to win 5-0. Lol England, good form
Jamie Smith what happened in the 2015 ashes? lmao ...Clarke had to retire along with Bitchell Johnson after a shitty form in the series.
Jamie Smith lol 60 all out cus they can't beat anyone outside of Australia all Australians post loads of videos of Australia win ashes because it's the only time they'll win
Jamie Smith
60 all out.
5-0 is the just the way it goes, it’s unstoppable sometimes.
But 60 all out.
That will never happen again.
So thank you Australia.
You haven’t brought the world much, but what you have bought has been gold.
;)
X
Ashutosh Hegde Johnson didn’t retire after that series you knob
+Cameron Glover lol ikr. Suck it england u pile of trash
It's fine clarkie, that's why Ashes is the best series in the world. Bcz of so much spice in it.
Ye like at least it wasn’t racist
I am an Indian but Ashes to me is THE series to watch. Australia have been my favourite team for a very long time now (along with South Africa) and obviously I was cheering for Aussies but this incident kinda hurt me. Aussies are so good at the sport so I never understood the need for sledging to begin with.
Coz you are another overstayr in Aus
Finally some honesty and realisation from the man who tied down tendulkar's legs, preventing him getting a run.
So, Clarke's ONLY regret was telling Anderson what Johnson's plan was! No doubt he would have put this down to 'banter' if Johnson HAD actually broken his arm.
The man's a disgrace, still when you have crime in your genes, what do you expect?
+Ben Brown hahahahHHHAhahahahajHHahHAa
Johnson may not have broken Anderson's arm but he broke Anderson's rib. Hahaha. Get out of here pommy, I wouldn't be pointing the finger if I were you. Cough, cough Stuart Broad, cough cough...*
Ben Brown He’s an Pom
Legend. Love him.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that what so ever.
Agreed
It's setting a bad example. Especially as a captain. It's not what the sport is about. Maybe in football or you Australian football but not cricket. Australia is the tumour of this planet
Clark didn’t learn to respect opponents then... nothing has changed today either
Clarke You are a legend and Its good that you accepted being regretful. it’s not sth a youngster aussie would like to look up to.
Current Aus team is far away from what is was like in Clarke’s time.
Ashes at Aus would be interesting to see 😊
Newsflash - Feb 9th 2021
Sir Jimmy Anderson rattles off 2 Indian batsmen who had been instrumental in beating Australia on their home turf a couple of months earlier. In one over. At the age of 38.
Who are these retired Australians again?
This example of sledging is so crude and uncalled for. I'm all for sledging but threatening physical injury is just lazy and pathetic.
Your talking about Anderson threatening to punch Bailey, right?
@@xanpenguin754 u been on the benzos lad?
Yet to see an Australian cricketer that lived with conscience
An Aussie will remain an Aussie, will always sledge. I think they have a practice session kept just for sledging and how to handle sledging.
Yep...and it's usually and English coach that conducts the sessions.
The bloke was a worm inside the Australian cricket team.
Not a good ambassador. Whatever the excuses.
Who cares everyone makes mistakes. Everyone comments on here and I'm sure your all made mistakes
Using - manipulating emotions instead of pure sporting skills shouldn't be allowed. Imagine how other sports will look like if sledging is allowed e.g. Tennis, Athletics
sharad shelar Other sports aren't cricket. What if they used bats in tennis? It doesn't fit
Whatever Mike said to jimmy anderson was unacceptable.and the things he talked about the individual performance and the leadership Quality was absolutely 💯 right.
Year 2000: Australian players sledge, Australia wins matches
Year 2010: Australian players sledge, Australia sometimes wins matches
Year 2020: Australian players sledge, Australia doesn't win any match.
Atleast they've managed to keep the sledging a constant.
It's funny that Indians are trying to mock Australia on not winning matches
Cricket - Game of Gentlemen 👏👏
"Infamous"? "[D]efined the Ashes…"? I think the interviewer is sensationalising.
Virat kohli shuts up all the attitude Aussies had ...
Well Andreson and co. forced Clark to retire in the next Ashes. So we all know who got better of whom
Clarke retired due to issues with his back...nothing to do with a softcock pom and his mates....
Gavin Batterham Not really man, he had awful series with the bat and as a captain
Such mature comments! Truly appreciate as always
James Anderson is one of the greatest swing bowlers in the world , who nobody sadly acknowledges.
what?? nobody acknowledges?
We know how clean Australians are on field😂😂
5 world cups, count em
@@uhhwhat1514 no doubt best team overall, but should also focus on spirit of sports and try to convert their image from villian to hero and I believe Aus have full potential to win their matches without cheating or sledging🙌
@@harshitjaiswal5248 you act as if we win because of cheating, as if no other countries have cheated. I could make an XI of Indian or Pakistani players who’ve cheated
As far as sledging I don’t really care, as long as it’s all in good fun. It’s part of cricket, as long as it’s within the rules
@@uhhwhat1514 dont know about Pak but Indians are not on top on cheating list like Aussies, U can make Ind and Pak XI combined, but Aus XI comes almost every decade in this list. I belive you are beginner level cricket follower, anyway its not ur mistake.😉
For sledging part, it does not matter what u like or not, its all about how you treat your guest.
As you are begginer, its my responisbility to inform you Sledging is not within the ICC rules(not sure about CA), ICC have imposed various penalties and punishment to eradicate sledging.
If sledging is part of game then why umpire throwed your audiences out of the park due to raciasm incident.
Even after that incident, our Indian captain refused to cut cake of kangaroo design.
Big man with your fast bowler against a number ten. Really brave standing up for your vulnerable players there. Jesus, Aussies.
Clark was a very very good Australian captain. Great record as captain and as a batter 28 test hundreds a score over 300 elite player.
He did win us the ashes and the world cup
Clarke is a cowardly Aussie runt! 60 all out in 18 overs. Great captain. 😂
England losing 5-0, great team👍
Remember Michael clarke is also 2015 World cup winning captain
Looks like Anderson, still playing at 41, is actually waiting for broken bones. 😂
I dont think cricket is a gentlemens game after waching this..
Harden up
***** Sorry, In English please?
***** What makes you think I'm Australian, you poor uneducated person?
***** I'm a kiwi mate. Get your eyes checked, then get yourself an education. Sounds like you could do with one
***** Correct me if I'm wrong, but we won a test and one day series against you last year.
Yep #8 beat #2, and you're bragging? Idiot
Johnson was one of those Aussie players you really loved to hate along with the likes of Haddin etc but Micheal Clarke certainly went down in my estimation after that .
He is called " PUP " what breed 🤔
A classic sledge 🔥
Summary of interview: "don't judge me"
That's your summary, I guess
Sir Jimmy Anderson's stats and place in the history of cricket make "Pup" Clarke look even more silly now
Succeeded over a long period of time in different conditions all over the world??no way, jimmy may have had his moments
Clarke still was upset that his ex fiance Bingle kept calling him Mr Empty Pants.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Respect and sportsman spirit more important than winning
Johnson just ate them alive in that series.... greateat comeback ever
Australians were masters of sledging and started to bring the game of cricket into disrepute.
Clarke and before him Ponting had done great damage to the gentlemen's game.
Thanks UA-cam it only took you 5 years
Swearing is, has and always will be a weak man's imitation of strength.
Only shame was that Anderson didn't get a broken arm!
ppp047 crazed aussie
Thats not sledging, thats threatening and abusive behaviour. Hes a POS
No respect for this Australian player after the day he purposely kicked Sachin Tendulkar. He may be a good player but not whom should we respect
Virat kohli behaves even worse than this so we have no right to talk anything about Clarke.
I love seeing the actual sledging going on between Eng and aus fans in the comment section
seriously a bit of language, for this level of intensity and drama...like an episode of revenge or housewives, just what cricket loves and always needs......ripper series, ripper captain, ripper sport.
The most underrated Aussie skipper and one of the most highly misunderstood Australian cricketer of all time.
Clarke is exactly right .
