It's a huge tank with not enough armour, a small gun and a tiny, under powered engine. Why is it so large then? you may ask, wondering what all that space is for. Why it's so there's room for the silver minting machine that runs every time you take it into battle.
QuickyBabyTV i dont think it was worth my money, it is not flexible enough. you get good round if your enemies ignore you or come at you one by one by one, while your hulldown.

It's not. Big, slow, terrible traverse speed and very bad armor at some points. I don't have it, and I won't get it.
yes, its worth it, if u play tier 8,7,6 games, it is a dream. the armor is great, and the gun is rapid firing and accurate
One thing a lot of people seem to miss is the ridiculous drowning line, you can hide the entire hull in the water without the countdown starting

I personally love the JgdTiger, because it plays like a mix of a HT in regards to armor, and a MT with its gun, 2 classes that I have plenty of experience in, with the same downside as the M3 medium, a tank that I have plenty of experience in.

Have always liked the combination of armour, mobility & that gun... well in my mind with the match making it has to be seen as slightly OP! What do you think?

+The Pilot Penguin Tanks with preferential matchmaking are, to my knowledge, always bad in some case. Like, really bad. The 112 for example has nice armor when hull down, adequate for a tier 10 game(i think) but has god awful penetration at 175mm, and the stronk russian style accuracy does no good at all. It has trouble with some tier 9's,how would they do in tier 10?
I think the Jagdtiger 8,8 gets preferential mm for the same reason. 203mm is nice, but the tier 9 Jagdtiger gets the 128mm with way more penetration at 276mm and WAY higher alpha at 560 vs 240. Both guns the normal Jagdtiger gets are tier 10 guns, while the 8,8 L/71 is only a tier 8 gun.
Additionally, preferential matchmaker tanks are far more comfortable to play. It's a good incentive for people to buy them. Just imagine the amount of lotion WG would need to soothe the butthurt from angry customers who bought the thing for it's matchmaker.

I own a Jagdtiger 88. QB pretty much sumed it up quite nicely.
Pro's: Armor, rate of fire, precision, money-making potential
Down's: Mobility, alpha damage, no turret
In a tier 8-match, you can almost drive it like a heavy tank, if you can find an area where the enemy cannot flank you and has to face you frontally. You can bounce lots of shots and put lots of holes into the enemy, but if they flank you, you're toast. It really comes down to your playstyle. I like well-armored tanks with fast firing guns and I am willing to sacrifice some mobility for that, so this is a tank for me.
If you take a look at the unarmored tank-destroyer-line of the Germans (Flakbus, Sturer Emil, Waffenträger etc.) and think "no" and if you generally like heavy tanks, this could be a moneymaker for you.

There's nothing more satisfying than holding an entire flank with my Jagdtiger 8,8. T'was my first premium vehicle that I ever purchased and I have simply adored it ever since.
It has it's moments but generally i feel it's too slow to enjoy
It just depends on your play style. Some peope like being in mediums or heavies or light tanks and like to go straight into the fight. Others (like myself) enjoy sniping and taking our time. A great TD can turn the tide of a battle.
Unguided Reaper that generally doesn't help wn8 or win rate though.

The Jagdtiger 8,8 is a rather slow tank and slightly awkward fight with due to it's lack of a turret. However, in sacrificing speed, this tank gains pretty good armor for the opponents it faces. As stated in the video it has amazing dpm, accuracy and decent pen, and combined with lack of mobility and very strong upper body, prepare to camp a lot. Its per shell cost for AP is 256 and thus really good for credit making. It is important to note that it has a mere 203 pen, thus you will need to aim for weakspots properly.
The Jagdtiger 88 has my highest base XP score of 2600 in a game on sacred valley. I love this premium, the sheer DPM is just down right sick when people don't realize if they sit in fornt of your gun that you can desimate them very quickly. When in a hulldown position or in a bottleneck it is near unstoppable. Makes credits better than any other premium thanks to its cheap ammo too.
The gun firing rate is the best thing about this TD. I don't do too well with it, but if you get lucky at the right place at the right time, you can spread death like few other vehicles can.
The slow traverse rate though is a huge problem.
I have a Jagdtiger after someone recommended it to me and I was disappointed with it at first. As I have continued to play it I have hit and miss matches with it. The key to the tank is just as you said. Make your lower hull untouchable by putting rocks or wreckage in the way and be in a position where you cant get flanked and you will do wonders with it. I was able to defend the cap from 4 Heavies, of T7, T8, because they just couldn't pen my super structure. I do save my great battles and if I get one in it, Ill be sure to send you a copy of it!
As a JT88 owner, I have to agree with you QB. It just isn't flexible enough IMO to dictate the pace of a battle. It surely isn't worth the cost (currently available on the NA server once again for a limited time).
I love the Jagdtiger 8,8. Exceptional view range gives you the ability to fire well out of the normal view range of most tanks. I combine this with binos, camo net, and a crew vent, I become one serious tank killer, While my damage per shot is low, I can chug out accurate shots every 4.7 seconds with very little aim time. But once I close range, things have a habit of going badly
Haven't watched the full video but I love my JT88. Listening to QuickyBaby talking about premium rounds penning it is a bit over the norm, if you cover the lower glacis as with all Germans you rarely get penned. If you set up in Banana Alley for example you can hold for days, even against IXs if needed

I have a Jagdtiger 8.8 and I agree, it has poor alpha damage, but apart from that it excellent at hull down. Nearly impenetrable, has good fast firing and high pen gun. I would recommend
I agree with you QB. For YOUR style of play, it is not a good fit. But for people like me, who love TD sniping, this is a great tank. You can unload round after round into the back or side of an enemy before they can figure out where you are. I think people who love the SU-122-44 will love this one too. And it makes a lot of credits.
For credit making I go with the Lowe, SU-122-44, Type 59, KV-5, and the 88. The others doen't seem to make as much.
Kmash Do it all the time. And if your first shot is into their tracks they aren't going anywhere. Amazingly, most people don't move right away when being shot at long range. They try to see who shot them. Close range is not the way you want to play this tank. Matter of fact, most TD's are best at long range sniping because that is what they are built for.
Kmash Your butt seems to be hurting. TDs getting into good sniping spots is highly effective. Very rarely do you see them doing well in front line attack positions. There are a few that can do it but not many. Most are lightly armored so they have to hide and snipe. So your assessment is wrong and I think this is because you've been burned by TDs too many times who were sniping. You hate it and call them cowards and pussy when they are doing what they are designed to do. I bet you think arty should be charging the front line too.
Of course every situation calls for a different method. As you see by the ending, going chasing the enemy in close quarters in a TD rarely works out unless you are in one that has good armor. This one has good armor, not great tho. If you are at the end game and MUST chase them down to have a chance to win, then do so. They got lucky in this game that the enemy was a wuss and didn't go after the guy in the cap circle soon enough.
Sorry, but you need to get over your hatred of TDs that snipe and realize that is their purpose in life. I have a game where I got into a good sniping spot and did a lot of damage but then it ended up 1 vs 6 at the end. Luckily I was in the SU-122-44 with lots of speed. The enemy was pissed as I racked them up. Saying the same things you are. "You pussy hiding in the back until the end". Well, no. I wasn't camping at the spawn point obviously. Siegfried Line. I got out in the field and sniped from there. Then raced around behind and got them 1 at a time.
The point? Every tank has a design purpose. BUT you have to be able to adapt. TDs are snipers. They are not meant to be front line combatants. For every game like this one, there are a thousand where the TD gets eaten alive by being overly aggressive. Just learn to live with it and stop being so butt hurt when the TDs go into hiding places to snipe.
I enjoy my 8.8. I see alot of people complaining about it's alpha, but its rate of fire and the DPM combined with the accurate gun are the redeeming qualities. What makes it very strong is being able to perma track people, and if people are not used to the rate of fire it has, you can perma track a tank that comes out of a corner and kill him while his gun is safely behind the corner still. There have even been matches where someone doesn't have a repair crew and I can alternate non penning track shots with a damage shot and keep them in place while I am hull down. That being said, you always need to angle this thing just to maximize the armor and minimize any penetrations.
Provided that you can hide your lower plate and your machine gun port (Or stay at long range if you can't hide the machine gun port), you can pick away at their weakspots while they attempt to hit yours. Really the main tank that I have issues with in my 8.8 is a T34, because people play this tank in the hills and dont expose damaging track shots often, which means you have to play peak a boo with it.

Personally I don't run a fire ext on my 8.8 and instead run dual rep kits. This thing virtually never burns even when someone gets behind you. I find alot more use with the 2nd repair kit, whether I use it or just get my tracks up 15% quicker so that I can start applying the monsterous DPM properly again.
I love the JT 88. the DPM is amazing, its very hard to kill, especially hull down. the low alpha can be a problem, but the super fast rate of fire can permatrack opponents, allowing you to rack up massive damage. I play mine as an assault gun rather than sniper, but it has the flexibility to do both.
I run rammer, vents, and optics. Optics over binos due to the low traverse, so you're not constantly resetting them.
the jag88 is one of the best credit makers. especially for a newer player. if you have 10k games or less I'd recommend getting it.
I bought a bonus code for the Jagdtiger from a keystore a couple of weeks ago and saved over 50% on the discounted price it had in the WoT store back then. It is very very well werth it.
I love this tank, and the actual JagdTiger even more, the only thing the 8.8 is lacking for me is mobility, 2 more degrees per second on the traverse would be wonderful.
With the huge mobility buff this tank received, I think it's well worth the price. Preferential matchmaking and amazing credit potential and it the gun is just so damn good. It can troll heavies almost like an E25 with it's absurdly high ROF.
I love this tank. Its so accurate at long range its almost unbelievable. Just dont let people come near you, because you will die fast. Dont try to be line braker, just wait and attack from some range, where you can use wide arc. Speed is not that bad once you get used to it (my second favorite tank is Churchil III ;)) I have all german premium TD and this one is probably my favorite.
I think its worth buying. Its slow as a slug but when you get hull down and can open up with that gun its a blast to play.
I got it during this event and it was a big money maker for.
50,000 credits for an average won round really helped me out ^^
But I agree with Quicky here, it's not worth the 10k of gold unless you really love your german TDs and are okay with low to medium mobility.
I like this tank, I do better in it than I have so far in any other. I'm not great at quick situational awareness, so having a reliable shooting platform suits me. And having no turret is also easier for me to control for the same reasons. So, premium T8 that I feel really comfortable with the first day of playing. Sure, being outflanked means you get to watch your own death as you turn in slow motion hoping for a miracle... but then again, it's a nice vehicle to advance at enemy's position.
Having bought it a couple of weeks back...
Sometimes it's great with the DPM and when hull down.
And sometimes its not so great: when you get flanked by a light/medium and when you're not hull down your engine *will* get damaged through the lower plate.
I have several premiums including the jt88. It is situational and an arty magnet. However, when it is working it is a credit machine. The speed makes getting into position dicey in a three arty game.
If you like making credits by the bucket, get the 88. Reduces credit grinds by a ton. Not the most fun, but getting a platoon together and clubbing pubs is always a good time.
9.14 patch, I got two days of rental on this thing and it is crazy good. excellent at range, takes multiple hits to kill. I wassuprisedto have 55-75,000 credit game easily in it, dont think I ever lost credit in 70 games. it made me 2,000,000 in a x5 weekendwith little effert. new fav tank.
I was gifted my JT 8.8, so I can't complain too much, but honestly it is not a vehicle I drive very often. In the right circumstances where you can hull down and hold a corridor it can wreck faces, but on the whole it feels rather lacking. A similar TD a tier lower, the AT 15A, is a favorite though, and it has some qualities I wish the JT had - namely gun traverse and better depression. -7 is ok, but -10 is optimal. The JT has a very narrow gun arc, slow traverse, and only the frontal armor is worthwhile, and only if you are hull down. There's too many "only" clauses there for me. If you play it, it's helpful to have a platoonmate who can watch your flanks. I would not have bought it personally.
Preferential matchmaking actually is the best thing in the game. I own an IS6 and I always get matched with 2-3 T9, no more. And I feel that I can actually do something rather than being a spectator because my tank doesn't stand a chance against 80% of the enemy team.
The biggest gap between tiers should be 1.
Very good and balanced review. I have 1k battles in the 88, it's very inflexible, it moves and turns very slowly, it's an arty magnet, don't recomment anybody buy this, get something with a turret. I too prefer the AMX CDC :)
I had a Jagdtiger 88. Then I got a Jagdtiger and that was the end of that. It's a decent tank. It does well on city maps where it can go hull down and protect its flanks.
I'm looking forward to the Kanonejagdpanzer. It's more fun in this game to be fast than armored. After all, terrible players can always buy more penetration but they can't buy more aim!
I own a jgtiger 8.8 and most other premiums - not a huge fan of it. It certainly isn't a bad tank, but there isn't anything special about it that makes me want to play it - if I want to play a dpm monster I'd take out my E25 or SU-122-44, if I want to make credits - I'd take a CDC, Type 59 or IS-6.
The one good thing about it is the crew slots - the E25 only has 4 - so you can't train your entire German TD crew unlike the jgtiger 8.8 which has enough. Over all I wouldn't recommend it - if you want a cred earner, there are better (IMO), if you want a crew trainer - wait for the new one to come out. I'd only buy it (if like me) you like to collect tanks.
I think it is an okay tank. But like you said, it leaves you wanting more from the mobility as you can't react to some of the situations you get yourself in. I would back your oppinion on getting the CDC for more experienced players. I have it and I love it. I use the Type 59 for those games where I just need some armour :)
Got it, and love it. It is one of my "relaxation" tanks, where because of its low repair costs and pref mm, I can go into battle not caring too much about team composition or map - I decide whether I am going to simply roll and shoot, or if I am going to get hull down and snipe. If I can find a depression or shell hole or gentle up slope to shoot from, the ufp angle is increased sufficiently to make the chances of bouncing shots more common,. I bought it when I was finding getting TD-15 difficult with my Russian and Brit td's, and got it within 20 games (ticklemonster - as red as an embarrassed tomato), with nearly two thirds damage being non pens. No, it is not the tank for an action based player but for someone who likes hearing "pwoung"...
Instead of removing it they could just give it normal matchmaking and turn it into the jagdtiger 10.5. Basically a give it a beefed up tiger 2 gun.

Such a good money making tank. Solid gun, decent armor, and preferred matchmaking means you can usually hold your own in a match. I love it.
i never owned a jagdtiger 8,8 but i had a normal jagdtiger. if you dont want to spend money on the game just grind towards the normal jagdtiger because the gun is more then awesome and the tank itself is more mobile then the jagdtiger 8,8. you might face tier 10 but you are very capable of dealing with tier 10 vehicles in the jagdtiger. the grind past the jagdpanther II is less painfull the past the ferdinand just because you have that mobility and once you start getting used to the armor of the jagdpanther II you are able to bounce more shots then the ferdi :) just a little advice for when you want a jagdtiger but dont want to spend money. once i got my jagdpanzer E100 i had 4 crewskills on my crew, so dont worry about the grind, its not painfull once you get past the flatpanzer (wich i found a pretty good tank though but a lot of people hate it) :)
One slight problem with this replay, QB is better than 99% of the players in the game and will do more damage and earn more money than most so this replay is not really representative since 99% of the players wont acchieve this result but it IS what the tank can do with a great player at the controls so.....
The jgtig 88 is my only prem tank and despite wishing for a turret or more mobility, as a 3rd world scrub im pretty happy earning 30-50k credits on average. I like the T-34 so im used to low alpha rapid firing guns, which is roughly the same case with the jgtig 88.
I actually purchased one a few months ago, I think it is a little expensive but I have had some great games in it. I do find the mobility of the tank lets it down, but if you can learn to use the armor effectively it can be great for training.

I think the JT88 is awesome. It's great at what it does. Its problem is the team dependency and the shitty standard of players in WOT. You can get rushed and circled right next to your teammates without them trying to actually help you or anything. There are simply things that the JT88 cannot do on its own. It needs help.
If you find a hull down position on a city map or something, you can completely shut down a flank on your own though. No one wants to drive down a road when you're at the other end in your JT88. The ROF just scares people away. :)
So yeah.. It's situational if you're playing solo and it's not exactly great for carrying games since its so team dependent, but the tank itself is pretty damn cool imo.
I think this tank is verry good.When you get used to it,people dont know how to shoot you usualy.And he's armor is VERRY GOOD.Like,it's lovely,you will bounce almost every tier 9,if you know how to hide your belly,and how to use your top armor.And its just GREAT for money making machine.I love this machine,and i recomend it for all of you.(Sorry for my bad english,i'm not native)
why aren't you using atleast a double row garage? i only have 36 tanks so far but i still find it a pain in the ass to scroll or constantly tick the boxes fitting the description of the tank i wanna play for one game

QuickyBabyTV I use both filters and triple layer carousel. Sometimes I just close my eyes and click a random tank when I don't know what to play. triple layer makes that easier :)

Nice review. Now, Jg 8.8 doesnt exactly fit my gameplay style, but I ll live. Good credit maker and most important can grind both JG E100 and WT E100 crew which I intend to obtain in future.
I brought this tank a wee while ago it takes abit of getting use to especially if you are used to playing an agressive game ' you soon realize that you dont have the monoverabilty. As far as the amor goes i feel it was alittle lite for a vehcle that would depend on amor for suvival in closs ingagements which it does because of its lack of mobility and speed especially towards the end of the engagements when the enemy has pushed forward.
The gun on the other hand is well balanced mine is reloading at 4.62 seconds so as long as im not boxed in i can dish out alot of damange and fast.
The price" i feel in lite of the amor and the fact that it is only a TD 10,000 gold is a wee bit heavey i would have been a lot happier at 8,000 gold.
best advice is to platoon this beast with your mates so if you do run into problems you have so help at hand.
one small point quickybaby i really love your videos but i feel you are giving away to much when you tell players the weak spots on tanks' espeacially tanks like this one. My feeling is this is something players should learn about at there own pace' and to be fair if you spent 10 000 gold on tank and somebody else told everyone how to distroy it would you not feel alittle anonoyed?

Guys... what is this Krupp-Steyr Waffentrager? You can see it at 5:10 when QB is talking about gun of Jagdtiger 8,8 (compatible vehicles)
It is a great crew trainer for tier 8+ German TDs, and also makes good credits but you will struggle to make enough impact in a game and your win rate will suffer.
I can pen the lowerplate with 130-140 pen guns and not from below! tier 6 tanks can pen it rlly and the side, u can angle it as well as you can But 150 pen+ still goes trough it like a knife trough butter
When QB was talking about the armor being so good, I was like what the heck, I pen it always from the front when I meet it with tier 7 or 8 tank. (And I almost never shoot gold)
i play on the xbox and last month was a sale, so i got the jagdtiger for 7,000 gold, but a years premium was half price so for 19,000 gold i got both
with ventilation, a gun rammer and chocolate consumable my rate of fire is 13.4 and should improve when i get brothers in arms
this makes a ton of credits which allows me to get the more expensive tanks and use premium ammo
I'd still like to see them make guns solid at least against other tanks that looks so stupid having your guns stuck into each other.
Noticed that the t34 was using his gun barrel to block your shots as well. I was hoping they would have gotten rid of that because seriously...using your gun to block shots then turning around and shooting with it??
QuickyBabyTV, where did you get that damage received mod panel? Been using your mod for a long time. Are you able to add one like that inside your mod when next patch comes out? Thanks.
I'd rather have the IS6 just because when you have to go credit grinding you might as well guarantee you can always have fun doing it. It's just such a forgiving tank that you don't have to care about the outcome and still do well, make good credits, and have fun. If I'm going to spend real money on a tank, fun is priority number one.
I wouldn't go and compare with a HT as the TDs have a different playstyle

Compares a tier 8 TD price to tier 8 mediums prices. 2 totally different classes of tanks. The jgtig 8.8 is the best tier 8 td in the game but that is just me. With making a avg. of 100k profit per game and having 475 view range in mine as well as a monster camo rating. The jgtig 88 is the best td for any city map. Pick one up. I use my gold that I won in tournaments and haven't regretted it since :).
If i want to used 88 mm. I take steyr Wt (tier 7 one over this one ) at any day. same gun. Max tier 9 . but tier 7 one has amazing camo and turret.

I does have pref MM but i find it sees tier 9 every other game and thats when you find the lack of pen in the 88mm.
I find you can make good credits IF and only IF you can avoid firing too many prem rounds.
You keep on saying that the Kanonenjagdpanzer is the Jagdtiger 88's replacement, but whatever happened to the Rheinmetall Skorpion? Wasn't that a tier VIII tank destroyer as well?
Mine was worth it, I got it free with a bonus code :P To be fair, I much prefer my T34, the 8.8 is ok, but you rarely get to utilise your full DPM, higher alpha would make it better, even at a reduction of rate of fire.
Before the 9.0 patch I could make 100,000+ net silver once a week or so. Since then a good game is 50,000 - 70,000 net. Worth it just not as hot. It is a great trainer for my IX Jagdtiger.
FYI lately my shot in the IS-6 same angle etc bounces.
Hello QuickyBabyTV For me Jagdtiger 8,8 is a nice tank. I play a lot of medium tanks(all tier 10 MT, CDC, etc.) but i still love Jagdtiger 8,8 that because have a nice reload time and you can outplay most of tier 8 tanks. When enemy team have most of tanks td's and heavy tanks i go on first line, but when enemy team have a lot of medium tanks or light tanks i play more passive. But this tank is special for players who love tank destroyers. Maybe is better to buy a T54 Mod 1,IS-6, AMX CDC or FCM 50T, that because Wargaming implemented a lot of city maps and want even in future to add more city maps to game, so JagdTiger will be a very hard tank to be played, and even on open maps, is a priority target for SPG's. But for someone who want to add at collection of premium tanks, is okay.

Kmash Boring? - but T95 players must be sniffing glue playing these sorts of TDs. I like this TD...for it's good rate of fire mainly.
urgg - I dont love it....I like the credits it makes and the rate of fire; ones they get near to its side - it's game over....

+David Stark the last thing you want to do in a 88 is snipe in the back. you are a front line pusher when top tier, or a supporting tank when you are in tier 9 games. because its armour against morons who dont know what gold is, works. but it still needs a fucking buff. >_>
I sold it for credits. Admittedly this video made me regret that decision, as it reminded me of the good games I had in it. Still, my german TD crews are already well-stocked (almost 3 skills) and I've got plenty of other vehicles to make credits with. I still want to buy it just because it's being taken out, but at the same time I also have to remember that I have no reason to drive it... especially considering the fact that I already have an E-25, a Stug IV, and even a Dicker Max to keep the Radio operator from falling behind.

I have the E25 myself and would love to get the KanonenJagdpanzer! If you guys missed the window to buy the E25, you've missed out on so many shits and giggles.
Hull armour is crap, even tier 8's can ignore it sometimes. It definitely excels at fighting tier 8's hull down however a tier 9 game it will often just be penned through the super structure by most heavy tanks, some medium tanks and most tank destroyers with regular rounds. Not a bad tank but it definitely needs to be hull down to be effective however.
personally, I like the ATM 8.8. Great money maker, still. now, I do play on console now, no longer on PC....but I love it. I own every console Premium in the game (besides 3 super low tiers)....and its in my top 5.

What in the world happened with the damage decals? They used to look like a 3d penetration or dent. Now, they look like someone painted them on. Not that it really matters all that much, just a point of curiosity.
I have it and it's amazing. the armor is not bad it's really good and the accuracy is great and so is the DPM
I got this tank....and yes 100%. I love it more then my tier 10 E5.....I use it alot more. I've spent so much money on wot. and I don't regret buying that tank. I would recommend it 100%

jigtig88 is very much worth it!! I was able to buy 4 tier 10s in a month from the money I grinned out of it. it works great and dishes out hell
Looks like new Jagtiger will not have that radioman gun weakspot, just one flat 150mm armor. Maybe the will remove it on jagtiger 88 too, i hope not.
I run vents+chocolate+BiA+rammer on mine. The reload is 4,27 seconds. Absolutely murderous.
