Thank you so much for the help. My Hayne's manual said that in order to remove it, there were so many steps involved. I found that when I saw you mention the steering lock pin I was able to remove my steering lock. The trouble was tremendous, despite having a Hayne's manual. Sometimes professional manuals do not always list every single "step" mentioned in the process. My manual never mentioned any pin or bronze colored button to push. You made a very valuable video, your worth is tremendous. Pat yourself on the back for me. I "love you"!!!
thanks for the video. I'm replacing mines on a 1985 300D Turbo. In your video I noticed that you took the tumbler out and then proceeded to remove the lock assembly by depressing the locking pin. On my car I had to first turn my key to the "on" position-go past the acessory position- so that the locking pin could be depressed. After depressing the locking pin I then completely removed the tumbler and proceeded to remove the steering lock mechanism. For three days I tried to depress that locking pin to no avail. after I had removed the tumbler. thanks again for the video.
Talk about a PITA . Went with after market tumbler but the anti-theft sleeve would not allow replacement. I used the Pin method allowing me to pull the tumbler. So I put in the tumbler in with out the sleeve, works fine now. Usually just changing the tumbler is all you have to do unless the ignition assembly is shot.

I changed the tumbler about 2 years ago but it made no difference. I think my assembly was shot.
Can you list the product name/number that can match the ignition key, door and trunk, please.

What if I cant get the cables behind the switch to unplug? You said it's super easy lol, in mine it's really not xD
I don’t think there was anything special I had to do to get it loose.
I had just removed the 300sd's ignition switches rubber wired plug...once I became a lilliputian. I think I'll recover (eventually !-)
