I'm not sure if you realize how good of a work you are doing with those break downs. You've helped me understand and even fall in love with songs I didn't really get. English is not my first language so it's hard for me to catch a lot of references or double meanings but thanks to you I know a lot more and I can enjoy and appreciate songs like this. I've always liked that song but I've just now learned how good it really is, which is mind-blowing. Thank you for your work and keep up!

Exactly the same for me, English isn't my first language and even though my English isn't bad the HipHop culture has so many references to certain things where they use 'slang' that I have a hard time understanding sometimes. That's why I love this channel.

Kendrick is mainstream without being mainstream. Just imagine a kid from Compton as he had put his story in front of us to visualize and doing in the best form of rap/hiphop. He deserve all the glory. His albums are the ones that gonna leave a legacy for generations to come. The whole number 1 2 3 and goat talk is corny. I hate that people can't simply listen to music and enjoy rather than pitting it against another artist. 😒

This album will forever go down in my top 5 of all time. His ability to transport me to a world I’ve witnessed, but never lived is on par with any author I’ve ever read. The imagery carried in the words alone is masterful, let alone with the beat to set the tone. Smh goddamn. More Kendrick please! \m/

I also love his use of calling the Ghetto an Orphanage because an Orphanage is a place where society houses abandoned children and the ghetto is where society contains abandoned people (largely Black People).
Another powerful picture, when he talks about holding his friend as he dies (at the end of the life cycle) and to compare that to holding a newborn baby who is just being born (the beginning of the life cycle). Powerful. It enlists two separate emotions.
Also, when he talks about Keisha's sister hooking up with the marry man he also does a masterful job have weaving in another layer. He uses all piano musical references. He mentions her "cadence", "tingling keys" and "E" as in E-major a scale played on the piano. Is just another way K-Dot shows he is truly brilliant and layerd.

I left that previous comment before getting to the end of the video. Loved the breakdown. This is easily one of my favorite story telling songs of all time. Because it's so fuckin relatable. I was that kid that grew up in the hood. All my friends were in the street. But because I was so gifted and smart. My friends would not allow me to do stupid shit with them. Its like they saw better in me before I could see it myself. Sad to say every last one of them from that crew growing up is dead some from suicide... Some from murder... Here I am 37 with a family a good job. Three kids. Sometimes I look at my life and kick myself cause I think I could have def done more to try and show them a better way... But party off me feels like they knew... But they was in way too deep to change at that point...kinda venting now but I def loved the breakdown

My favorite bar in this song is that simple 3 worded one 26:05 “by any means” because it’s really part of the sentence before it too. Her story needs to be told by any means and he wasn’t trying to offend her by any means

Great breakdown g he's a threat to most ppl favorite rapper because most rappers have lyrics but not as creative or don't have the message and lack something else he literally has everything and ppl know but the truth is always the easiest to step around and make a lie/ excuse about it

Salute to K.Dot and, once again, shout out to Stevie. Tomorrow is the mf day! Let's go!
This song right here only highlights that he in no way glorifies street life or gang shit. Him creatively speaking from these different perspectives shows that he is actually extremely conflicted by doing it, but he's still feels he needs to share his perspective because he wants better.
The man is different and truly gifted. It cant be denied.

I Love Kendrick like I love Hiphop 🔥. He's a different type of rapper he paint his lyrics with his music, any sample Kendrick use will much the theme of his story telling. 👏❤️🔥 Beautiful art work that I love from Kendrick 😊
