I know what you mean. When Beauty and the Beast was released from the disney vault I did not have plans to buy the movie, even though I really liked that movie. However, after owning Aladdin, Lion King, and the Little Mermaid (which I got for only $10) I just said to myself "Oh crap, now this means I need to get Beauty and the Beast." However by that time, the movie was already back in the vault and will not be released for who knows how long. Screw the disney vault.
therightdude213 Disney movies that are in the Disney vault will be stored away for 7 to 10 years i'm sorry but that movie will be gone for almost a decade
I can agree with you on this. Disney wasn't what we thought it was in our younger days. Also this exercise on a vault for it's movies. No wonder it's getting more hated people like the original classics than remakes. At least this makes me glad I grew out of it. Because to stay would be causing much heartbreak.
Regarding that "sex" controversy: 1. It's "SFX" not "sex", it was a nod to the special effects team, it's not their fault people misinterpreted that. 2. That sequence was only 2 seconds long, you'd have to be extremely nitpicky to look for something like that to bitch about. 3. Even if it said sex then so what? Sex is sometimes a synonym for the word gender, some forms use that word.
I agree. What's the point of the Disney vault, especially when we live in this modern day and age? Where every movie ever made can be obtained for free via bit torrenting websites.
The sex reference was actually meant to say SFX to honor the special effects team. Also, movies that are put in the Disney vault do not release again until 7 to 10 years so you're going to wait a while for that Little mermaid DVD
I never really understood the Disney Vault myself either. Like, why would Disney even wanna release their movies on DVD/Blu-ray/Digital for a limited time, and then shove some/most of them into this so-called 'vault' for a few years? Instead of just letting them stay on the shelves for everyone to get, regardless of the times, until they decide to update the 'special edition' release.
yeah it sounds stupid to the consumer, but it's all about the money, for disney. the only reason they care if the films are "fresh" for new generations is so they will sell more copies. disney puts a movie for sell and tells people they only have this amount of time to buy it before it goes into the vault. this makes people go out and buy it so they don't miss out. those who do miss out have to wait 10 years and by then they are anxious to buy it. it keeps the movies in high demand!
Dreamworks is younger than I am. Disney is 87 years old and has released well over 300 films and God knows how many other productions. It would be EXTREMELY unwise to attempt to produce and sell even a third of those simultaneously. I think Disney knows what they're doing.
They also changed the crocodiles in the "I just can't want to be king" sequence of Lion King when they put it on DVD. When Simba and Nala are going down the the hill in "Can you feel the love tonight". the sky is pink; but in the DVD, it's orange. As a hardcore Lion King fan, I know.
Hell yeah you’re right, plus we don’t even need the Disney vault anymore because we have the Internet and we can watch any movie we want or we should be able to and now we have Disney+. Besides why don’t they bring out all the classic Disney Channel shows from the 80s when it first began, like welcome to Pooh corner, Dumbo circus, mouser size, and so on.
That "SEX" message from The Lion King is actually suppose to be "SFX" an abbreviation for Special Effects which was just something innocently added by the special effects animators.
I don't blame you on the "Disney Vault" issue, it's annoying! I mean SNL made fun of it a couple of times as for finding the DVDs that were supposedly locked away into the hypothetical Disney Vault, your best bet is eBay (also your best bet is "Buy It Now!" auctions)
*clings onto Beauty and the Beast and Lion king DVDs * WTF disney? Disney shouldn't be called disney anymore! Its NOT disney! It should be called the crappy company that used to make great animated movies that have touched hearts all over the world but don't anymore because they want to make money off of 12 year old girls that act like 18 year olds. Walt Disney would be mortified if he could see what had happened to the company he put his dreams into.
Millions of people are born everyday at any given time. It's impossible for any large group of kids to not see these films when they have parents that still own the videos themselves. Considering this, kids can still see them young and not "grow up" by the time a movie is taken out of the vault. Tons of people I know own VHS tapes from when they were kids and watched them, and if they don't get a chance to get the DVD then they can always show it to others when THEY'RE parents.
I can just picture Walt Disney up there in heaven, wondering what's happened to his company. God, I really hate being a kid in this age. I hope one day they put all their modern day shit in the vault just so I can laugh at all their crushed followers.
I really hate the teeny bopper invasion that is dumbing out our kids these days, like Hanna Montana, Jonas Brothers, High School Musical, & all that other crap. It has ruined many of our tv channels, like Disney & CN. Argh. I hate the vault.
I'm a 12 yr old kid, and I HATE HIGH SCHOOL STUPID MUSICAL[seriously, I cried when I saw it in class, cursing at it and almost did the middle finger],HANNAH STUPID MONTANA, THE JONAS BROTHERS, AND OTHER STUPID STUFF FROM DISNEY CHANNEL. Except for Phineas and Ferb.
I like _High School Musical_ for my favorite Disney Channel couple of 2006 (Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens) situated in, literally, a high school musical. 😍
Thank goodness were relying on the Internet as a soapbox to convince them otherwise, especially since this can help break stereotypes placed upon teens and young adults!!
@RaycxellTorres Yeah...I pretty much enjoyed Treasure Planet when it came out during my freshman year in high school, and this may sound weird to you, but the reason was the character in the upper left-hand corner.
I think this vault thing is all too true. I have never been able to get a copy (DVD or VHS) of Alice in Wonderland. And get this, I went to Walmart two times in the last 2 weeks looking for Brave...NADA!!!! And I bet there isn't a person alive today who remembers "Song of the South".
So glad I got my bambi and little mermaid DVDs when I did. Atlantis and Treasure Planet are extremely underrated movies IMO. I can't find Atlantis anywhere, but I doubt that got put in the vault.
If they want to show animated movies to new generation. Then don't put anything in the vault and let people get it themselves and just remaster them in DVD and leave the older ones alone. SIMPLE!!!
Yeah... Lady and Tramp, 101 dalmatians and the little mermaid might be in the vault (and maybe brother bear and the mouse detective). Luckily I have the VHS on all three in the loft.
I have Pinocchio, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, and Bambi on Blu-Ray Disc. and I'm going to wait patiently until Disney Releases The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin on Blu-Ray,Because Patience is a Virtue.
@waltdisney19282008 is that a game? sorry i've never heard of it but yeah i would do the same thing. i find it funny how parents were calling her a good role model and then the first thing she does outside of disney channel is pole dance at her live concert in front of thousands of little kids. I laughed my ass off just imagining the looks on all those parents faces who called her a good roll model.
I owned the 1990 VHS tape for Disney's Fantasia but I could not get the 2000 DVD and I had to wait for another 10 years to get the 2010 Bluray but at least Disney did not edit that movie and I made sure of it when I first played the Bluray I went to the scenes that might have been edited or deleted like the parts with the naked fairies from the Nutcracker suite segment which thank God for that scene was not edited or I would have returned the Bluray to Walmart
I've just heard about this "vault" recently.... My Grandma didn't have any trouble buying the little mermaid a while ago (only to find out we all ready had it and is going to give it to my cousin)
i'm 13 (techniclly a teen) and I hate those shows like HMS, Hannah Montana, and The Jonas Brothers and I love the classics like Pinnochio, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin etc.
The Disney Vault is just ploy, they release a new version of the classics all the time. OMG it's Dumbo 52nd platinum aniversary edition! I must get it! I have to replace my 48th aniversary gold edition. The rant would have been better if you had written it down before hand, and if you had cursed instead of dag nab. Also the sex thing on Lion King was actually a hidden "SFX" " for special effects not "SEX" like everyone thinks.
I don't like this vault bit neither so I bought every Disney classic movie that was released since 2002. Now they sitting on a shelf which is like having my own vault. Every year I have been taking out a Disney movie to watch whenever one gets released. I was able to get Zorro just in time since they were all gone two weeks later. With 30,000 copies available, that would come out to about 1 for every 10,500 people in the US with my being the one and only to own a copy in Western NY.
The letters in the lion king were supposed to be SFX not SEX. SFX was like an abbreviation for the effects they used on scenes like the wildabeast stampede o .o
@stevensunding Yeah, if you Google "Disney Vault", it shows the list of the films which are in being put in the vault and taken out. It's stupid because it's like Disney is just asking for their films to be pirated
@19lpsOBSESSED49 Yeah...it's like they actually prevent children from being MORALLY educated! Children shouldn't just learn from SCHOOL, you know! I bet Walt would be proud enough to know that there are actually CLASSY and SOPHISTICATED teenagers out there that are HIGHLY NEGLECTED!!
Why Do they put them in the Vault? Because in the days when there was no tv, it was the Company's custom to re-release them to the theatre's every seven years and now they do that with them on Home Video
Sam Bascom That's not a valid reason to take movies off the market. Not only do other companies not take movies off the market, if I'm not mistaken, the Pixar 3D movies (also products of Disney) are not subjected to being placed in the Vault.
I think they got ride of the vault policy now you can watch anything on disney plus and with the dvds and blu rays they release they dont do the vault anymore!
if fallout new vegas was real the disney people will make a vault called the diseny vault were they will be safe from the radiation and protect their movies
It’s worked for YEARS. Stop selling and by the time it comes out again you’re likely to buy it again. It’s nothing Walt didn’t do in his own way back in his time.
George Lucas did something similar with The Original Star Wars Trilogy, in 1995 with the Original Versions being "Available for the Last Time on VHS," Then in when the Star Wars Trilogy: Special Editions was released on VHS from Aug 1997-Jan 1998. and When The Original Trilogy was released on DVD again, but it was done individually in Sep. 2006 until Dec. 2006. Even George Lucas does it,
Actually Waner Bros. Just hopped on the "Vault" bandwagon. They're pulling all of the Harry Potter movies (DVD and Blu Ray) by halting shipping to stores on December 29th.
@megadisneyfan2 Good point! I'm behaving just like those Sonic fans who freak out about Sonic's eyes being green. Maybe the sky was intended to be orange and even though the newer crocodiles just look goofy, it's not the end of the world. If they make a music album of the soundtrack and have people like Miley Cirus or the Jonas Brothers sing the songs, THAT'S very close.
I hate to tell you this, Ben, but Walt Disney isn't in the Disney Vault. He was cremated and his ashes were buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. Sorry.
If they dare put hunchback of Notre Dame or Hercules and that bald, I swear to humankind I'll set fire to it.
Well, all of the movies are going to be released on Disney +, so we can see all of their movies
I know what you mean. When Beauty and the Beast was released from the disney vault I did not have plans to buy the movie, even though I really liked that movie. The vault was built by him before he died. If he cannot watch his movies no-one can.

Toy Story 1 and 2 (which are from Pixar) were in the Disney Vault until 2005.
And thus the J.E.R.K. rages.

they are putting lady and the tramp in the vault. I just saw a commercial for it. good thing I have the VHS tape.
