  • I took my time down from a 2:12 when starting out on the track to a 2:00.4, but unfortunately, one of the other drivers crashed the car before I could complete the day. Darn! Next time I guess.

I like this track, it's a shame it doesn't get used for F1 anymore -- I think it's cooler than Hockenheim, TBQH.
The run into turn 1 is pretty crazy, though, with so many cars trying to pile in through that tight hairpin at the start.

I listened to your video a few times but did not find a single error. I also watched your video and except for the minor off course error (which you quickly corrected), every entry/exit/attack line you performed was simply fantastic. Even the high speed, first turn looked and sounded perfect to me. I have absolutely no constructive criticism to give you. All I have is praise.

The sound of that engine is amazing! Is it the same twin turbo version that is in the non race cars?

This is a 6.2L fully aspirated engine (no turbo). It is different than the latest road cars which have “dual scroll” twin turbos and smaller displacements. I’m not sure if another car has this engine. I’ll ask the AMG guys next time I see them.

How to get into gt3 racing? Is it possible to make a career in this?

There are two ways to get into GT3 racing: Money or Skill. You can search for me on the internet to find out which one I am. 😉
If you have money, you pay to race as a "gentleman driver". I think gentleman drivers fuel 100% of AM and PRO-AM racing.
If you have skill, you can become a pro or factory driver. I have yet to meet someone in this category who did not grow up with their father's support racing as a kid.
In the GT3 category I think you can make $60k-$80k as a factory driver in Europe [someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I know someone making that]. If you are willing to consider some advice, I would recommend having a career that affords you the ability to race instead of the other way around. Right now, I'm doing something completely different for a hobby.
Cost for a Gentleman Driver in the GT3 category.
The AMG GT3 that I'm driving here is about $675k (give or take depending upon the spare parts package). Then for a team + transport + new parts + tires + gas + race manager you are looking at over $1M per season to start up.
Many of those driving in GT3/LMP classes have their companies "sponsoring" their teams. There is a whole marketing/customer acquisition reason to do this (CrowdStrike does this really, really well -- and they are awesome folks to boot). I had the option to race in the GT4 category (which would be cheaper and I'd be more competitive in than GT3 because it is not as much of an aero-downforce car) in the Michelin Pilot Series but turned it down in order to retire. I could either retire or race, but not both.
Thank you for the question! I hope that helps!
