      Not necessarily true, the deployment on this is a lot more simple than with fixed blades and their sheathes across the board. You don’t need to clip it to your pocket/belt, this deploys and locks from your pocket no matter how its resting in it. “Still not as fast as my fixed blade 🤓” like that’s a literal maybe.

      @@Jadoreilove do you have a fixed blade? You grab the Handle and pull. Boom it’s out. How is that less simple then grab it twist it slightly so the hook catches the pocket liner and then pull out with the tension popping the knife open. How is that more simple than grab and pull. Yeah some fixed blades (particularly older styles will have a snap. I never have mine snapped when I’m carrying my Bowie and if it’s a kydex sheath then you don’t ever need a snap it maintains plenty of retention. The hook has to catch the line of the pocket to work. So you have to pull it out a specific way so it does matter how it’s resting in it. It’s gotta be clipped using the pocket clip and in the right position. Not going to work right if it’s just chilling in the bottom of my pocket and I just whip it out. Okay a nerd emoji? Yes because all nerds are know for carrying hip mounted fixed blades. A very common stereotype. So we’ll known 🙄. Any knife with an action of any kind will be slower. Because a fixed blade doesn’t have to deploy. It’s always deployed. As a base. Plus can your folder baton firewood? Probs not. I could go into other reasons a fixed blade platform is just flat out superior. If you’d like 🤷

      The UK have knife disposal bins with pictures of scissors and screwdrivers on them.
      They have Twitter accounts that have lined up butterknives and actual FILES as items confiscated during street-sweeps.
      At least one of those Twitter accounts is represented by a cop who uses teddy-bear plushies in his footage.
      UK lawmakers and judges have made recommendations such as installing GPS trackers in every knife, or having programs where kitchen knives would be brought in to have the tips ground off and blunted.
      ~~~~~~~~~~
      Quote a UK knife supplier:
      For as long as Heinnie ® has been in existence, the law has required us to verify your age when you buy a knife online. That’s still the case - every knife-order will be age verified when it's placed, but the new law goes a step further. From 6th April 2022, the law makes it an offence to deliver a knife to anyone under 18, at a residential address.
      This means that any knife or bladed item which we send to you will have to be handed to an adult - it will be against the law to leave your parcel unaccompanied, next to the bins, or behind the back gate for example.
    When I was going into middle school my grandfather taught me this. Kids in the great depression, when he was growing up, would do this with their pocket knives and put a piece of folded up plating card in between the blade to hold it slightly open to catch the tip on the pocket. Never needed it but was a big life lesson for me and I know he just wanted me to be prepared.
    Oof, I see a lot folks complaining about needing to twist and pinch, and make sure it snags your pocket, and its not faster than a fixed blade......yada yada yada.
    I have both emerson wave openers, and fixed blades. Every type of knife has its draw backs. I edc a Spyderco Matriarch 2 from time to time. Once I broke it in, it opens fast, automatically, and I almost don't even feel it yanking at my pants (office slacks, more often than not).
    I love me a good fixed blade, but theres times where I don't want to carry a fixed blade, and an emerson wave is a great in-between for the defensive and survival readiness of a fixed blade and subtlety of a useful folder.
    I carry a nice handmade 7 inch Damascus fixed blade, made a kydex sheith that sets horizontally on my belt so it isn’t uncomfortable while seated and I can access it easily from all positions.
    If my back is pushed up against a wall and I can’t draw my firearm from my 4 o’clock position I can draw my horizontally mounted knife located at 2-3 o’clock very easily and start poking holes.
    Also the horizontal mounting position conceals a 7 inch knife very well, most of the time I keep my shirt tucked behind it to make it easier to draw unless I’m in a place that probably would frown upon someone carrying a knife.
    I also carry a Milwaukee fastback box blade for utility. Don’t wanna mess up that nice Damascus fixed blade cutting stupid shit.
    Screw folders for self defense. Seems like one more failure point on a weapon that should be your backup. If that knife is getting pulled out it’s because I can’t reach my gun ,I don’t have time to draw or I have a major malfunction of the firearm.
    What matters the most to me is rigidity, and for a folding knife I’ve found no better than the CRKT M16-14.
    A) It’s always sold under $100, usually around $80.
    B) CRKT quality material and design, the blade is 4in long to ensure one can hit vitals in a self defense situation.
    C) It has a double locking system to ensure the blade stays fixed open when you want it to.
    D) Quick deploying the blade is easy by flicking the short sides that also act as a small guard for your hand.
    It’s the best knife for EDC that I’ve found so far
    if you grab half of a butterfly knife in your pocket by the time you've pulled it out in your hand it should have spun into position
    Love my Emerson Sheepdog. Really doesn’t need this because the action is so smooth. Finally wore down the G10 so it doesn’t destroy my pockets. Easy to sharpen and the finger guard means I don’t even have to look at the thing when I’m closing it. Used for work tasks, but I know it’s capable enough in a bind. Just don’t want to use it. Probably use the handle before anything. Hammer fists go brrr.
    With any folder except the wave you HAVE to pull the knife out of your pocket BEFORE you can deploy it, this is as fast as a fixed blade, and I would dare to say that a nail nick knife is as fast as a butterfly knife which making a butterfly knife illegal a joke except mabe the length because it's the slowest of them all, very cool and flashy but someone will have you're throat cut before you can open a butterfly knife to get it ready to use especially something like the CIVIVI INSCISOR 2 in a reverse grip with a ring on the knife. Please guys dont get me wrong because butterfly knives are very cool but for in an emergency where speed is of the utmost importance it isn't nearly as fast, the best thing you could do first with it is leave it closed and use it as a blunt force weapon which can be very devastating and if you get the upper hand like that fast could end the altercation WITHOUT someone getting killed or life altering injury. Best thing to do is just to stay away from places and people where that would likely to happen though you never know. Stay safe and God bless.
    Meh, I'd loosen em slightly and keep it oiled, flicks open like silk and it don't make that noise that'd warn a wary smart foe, "never let em know you have it till AFTER you've used it" in the words of my grandfather who'd fought the Germans trench to trench bunker to bunker and walked away banged up but whole, "the lessons of war are best taken from those who've fought and won them"
    I still bet my wrist dagger would get you first. It’s not a assassins creed bs set up that’s fake and bulky and loud and noticable. Has a small retainer. 4 inches. Press the button by pressing your wrist to it flat palmed and it springs a dagger with three finger grips as you’re throwing or winding a punch or just spring it in your hand during a struggle or something. Or you know I could probably just use my fixed blade the same. If I have it on I always rest my hand behind the handle like a shelf for it to relax. And just post up like that everywhere. Like a friend drew a picture of me standing like that with our other friends like it was picture of us all. Kinda cool picture idea.
    Kinda defeats the purpose of a flick knife though. That quick little wrist flick that you do to open the knife is a great intimidator. The same as drawing a knife from a sheath or a sword from a scabbard. Just having an open blade appear in your hand isn't visually scary.
    Be faster than fixed blades even. Just gotta move the knife an inch before the blade it fully deployed, vs h/e many inches you have for a blade on the fixed. Marginally faster, but still faster.
