How We Care For Our Rescued Animals

When we rescue animals, we do whatever it takes to make them whole, happy, and healthy to get past trauma, sickness, loneliness or abuse. From the moments after rescue through the rest of their lives. But we need your help to make all of this happen!
The animals have regular vet visits, dental checkups, medications and surgeries when needed, but we do lots of additional things daily to continue to heal our animals' bodies AND minds.
There are 3 types of gentle healing plans here at The Gentle Barn
*Newly rescued animals who need rehabilitation for a specific amount of time, but then heal.
*Animals who need ongoing care for the rest of their lives-for them we need to find the appropriate level of care to maintain their mobility and comfort.
*Senior animals who are at the final stretch of their lives and need much more to keep happy and comfortable as long as they want to be here.
We create custom gentle care plans for each individual animal, which includes any combination of extremely important but often costly treatments like acupuncture, massage therapy, sports medicine therapy, and more. The animals get fresh hay, organic fruit and vegetables, supplements, CBD, and so much more.
It all takes a lot of time, care, and funds, but when we rescued these animals, we made a promise to each one that they'd have the very best lives. The Gentle Barn is a non profit animal sanctuary with locations in Los Angeles, CA, Nashville, TN, and St. Louis, MO. We rescue neglected and traumatized animals from all circumstances, we rehabilitate them, and when they're ready we partner with them to heal people with the same stories of trauma. We rescue cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, emus, llamas, donkeys, and more. All I'm trying to figure out is how anyone - not just you - who is so compassionate & caring about other sentient beings, can possibly be anything other than vegan?
It just doesn't make sense, in every way you think about it.
No one who genuinely cares about animals or other sentient beings - which is what animals are - would offer their love and empathy and money to incredible people and sites like this on the one hand, and then go cook a meal that contains the flesh or secretions of other sentient beings, and they KNOWINGLY paid for that exploitation, abuse and murder to happen.
I hope I'm making sense here.
Absolutely NO ONE should be here supporting this wonderful site and the wonderful people that run it, unless they are vegan or making a very quick transition into becoming vegan.
I'll be honest and say that it upsets me greatly to see the wonderful wording describing this site and 'the gentle barn' with absolutely no mention of veganism and that ethical vegan principles are what drives this sanctuary to do what it does.
Plus the vast majority of the animals they are rescuing only exist in the first place because non-vegans pay for them to be bred into captive existence.
I'm staggered, that one of the driving foundations of this sanctuary isn't to do everything they possibly can to educate more people to become vegan, as that would drastically help put a stop to the very suffering of beings they are so wonderfully taking care of.

The sad truth however is if you're not vegan, you are also paying out money to people who exploit, abuse and murder animals for your food and clothing.

Your animals get better care than some humans do.
I completely understand why you ask for so much in donations because taking care of that many farm animals is a butt ton of work not to mention healthcare, dental care, supplements for seniors, hoof care for the cows, pigs, goats, sheep and horses as well as figuring out the right feed to feed animals, all of that costs money and I would happily give you every single penny out of my bank account if that means that these animals get to live happy and healthy lives for the rest of their lives may the heavens bless every single thing that you guys do and I mean that seriously I am also planning to come up there on my birthday if money or schedule allows so I hope to see you and all of your wonderful animals😊

Hello lovely animal lovers.
It's so wonderful that you care so deeply about animals and that you post your messages of love and compassion here for the animals and for those who care for them.
That must also mean that everyone posting here cares about animals enough not to knowing and needlessly pay for animal exploitation, abuse and murder?
You might think that sounds stupid, but 99% of people are not vegan, and if you're not vegan then you are paying for animal exploitation, abuse and murder.
That's why the lovely people running this sanctuary suggest that you make lovely vegan meals.
The very reason wonderful people like those running this sanctuary are here doing what they do, is because people who are not vegan are paying for animal farming to happen.
Non vegan food comes from the animal farming industry, where the beautiful animals on this sanctuary come from.
So if you're still buying and eating animal flesh, milk and eggs, then you are part of the supply and demand that is the root cause of these poor animals coming into existence.
It's worth having a very serious think about.
So if you're here showing your compassion and love for abused animals, do some research and look into the cause of animal 99.9% of the exploitation abuse and murder of animals.
It totally shocked me to learn that it was me and people like me that were responsible. That's why I stopped paying for others to exploit and abuse animals for my food and clothing.
Stop paying for animal exploitation on one hand and loving them on the other.
Go Vegan.

Acupuncture... for animals? Is this even considered to be a licensed, approved medical procedure? I really doubt that
It absolutely is. In MA, in the US, I worked for a DVM who did acupuncture for many species after extensive training.
@@DianeLee-je7jm Maybe so, but it's still pseudoscience. Scientific research has not supported the existence of qi, meridians, or yin and yang.
I go to an accupuncturist & yes it is done pretty regularly to animals who will tolerate it. It can be very helpful for pain & arthritis. 😊
@@jaimezimmerman1670 Yes, sticking invasive needles in the body will release endorphins. Massage, and exercise will too.

I do drink almond milk.
I honestly cant even drink cows milk after seeing this. I just cant take it down. The things these babies go through is terrible. Its crazy how one doesnt realize these kind of things until they come across videos like this. Though its not rocket science,it still doesnt penetrate peoples minds as to how the things they are eating are animals that go through hell (😢smh) and then treated like hell..just for ignorant humans "pleasure?"
