love it man. e46s are the dream and i recently aquired a e46 with 207,000km no rattles but i am going to do this this winter for peace of mind. thank you man!
I love your channel and vids. They are always fantastic. So perfectly done, you describe every detail, there’s no questions about anything. Thanks so much!
Fantastic video. This is my project for this winter. Hoping this repair will take care of slight bogging that my car experiencing in first gear between 2-3K RPM when taking off. Only 30k miles but I am sure my Vanos seals are hard as a rock being 15 years old. Use of the Zip tie is Great idea
You take the Fear out of DYI ! German Engineering is so Amazing I just lo ve you Passion ! BTW a few drops of oil in those Splines before finishing locktite I would not recommend running barrings dry to Start !
Before you marked everything, your exhaust gear was fully inside the hub. When you started marking things, it was sticking out. Which is it supposed to be and how did you do that?
I watch your videos often and you are very informative. I have a question . I own a 99 328 2door and its slow at accelerating 1-3k even 4 its not the vanos its just like sometimes when I start it it has power and rumbles and other times it sounds like fried. Its like aftrr i start it it runs fine for 2-3 minutes and then it loses power in low rpm and also sounds different do you have any idea what that might be thank you.
great video keep doing excellent work!!!! did your car pass the vanos test afterward?? our car after the vanos beisan service and 288/280 Schrick camshafts change still have not passed the vanos test we have error code 184 which reads: vanos intake position control !!! can you help us??? do you have any idea what might be causing this??? thank you in advance...
E39M5 uses the same VANOS setup but I never heard of cam hub bolts loosening. Do you ever run into that problem on the E39M5, or is it because in E39M5 the hub is only driving a 4-cylinder camshaft vs. 6 cylinder in S55 and that is why the problem occurs. Curious to get your thoughts.
Dude thanks for all the great videos!!! I have a question! My son has a 2003 330XI and we can’t keep rear tires on it. It seem to be wearing evenly but the rears are toasted way before the front. It’s so bad that after 4000miles on new tires the rears are 1/2 gone and fronts still like new. If it wasn’t all wheel drive I wouldn’t ask lol Any ideas????
What is the source for the recommendation to use blue medium strength threadlocker on the hub sprocket bolts? Lang Racing and DrVanos recommend using Loctite 263 Red High Strength Threadlocker. Thanks.
Where can I ask you questions? Because I have a e46 I replaced the brake booster and master cylinder but the pedal hits the floor and there are no leaks. The fluid is still full in the resovior.
U might consider cleaning your vice off the next time your working on high precision high performance BMW 🎭 parts. Just an observation. Thanks for the vid!
This job is a very tedious one and I do not look forward to the next time I have to do this. At least you're getting paid =P Timing on these cars is completely different to others, as I've come to find out.

Do you have a video of replacing e46 engine coolant temp sensor? located at cyl 6 under intake manifold .
How far are you from Florida? I need someone to do this for me lol
@@TheST2293 theres no way around it dude, u gotta take the manifold off to replace that 1. What problems are u having with it?

Definitely watching these videos before I get an E46 M3
Another Excellent video ! Can’t wait for the Finale
Thank you! The finale is next week!

Awesome M3 anti-rattle DIY brother and sister!
Thank you for your videos
Glad I could help!
By the way, I wasn’t sure how to pronounce Beisan until I found this in one of their documents. Beisan Systems, LLC (BEE-SAAN) fyi, thanks again.
What is the name of the company to order the parts for the rebuilding of the Vanos?
this video will help a lot, thanks

Excellent job! Very clear with great pointers...👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Question on splines ! Should there be some oil added to the Bearings pre assemble !?
Great vid man, do you happen to have the part numbers for the chain guide bolt washer and chain tensioner washer? Would appreciate it. Thumbs up.
Great DIY!
Oh with the sprocket removed and the chain off can you use the camshaft alignment tool at that point ?
this guy was fortunate his hub tabs were intact, one tab was broken on mine but i had but the upgraded Turbo Toy exhaust hub ahead of time lol.

Why do you need the timing tool if you’re just matching the paint marker lines up anyway?

Hey man. Do you by any chance have a crank position sensor replacement video for the E46 M3.
When retiming do you keep the TDC lock pin in?
Hello. can you provide the link for the cams sprocket bolts please?
Where can I ask you questions? Because I have a e46 I replaced the brake booster and master cylinder but the pedal hits the floor and there are no leaks. The fluid is still full in the resovior.
If i was tackling the VANOS and valve adjustment, which one should I do first?
U might consider cleaning your vice off the next time your working on high precision high performance BMW 🎭 parts. Just an observation. Thanks for the vid!
Why has this not been done for the S62 & M62?
YOU ARE MY SAVIOR
13:40 why did you replace those with S62 version ? Do originals cause issues ?
23:33 when you start doing the timing, the locking pin at the crankshaft stills inside?
Hey i had my auto trans go out found a local guy parting out a 540i 6sp manual will that transmission even bolt up to the e46
Its amazing how much more beefier the vanos unit for the s54 is than the m54 for for obvious reasons, just sayin!
Great videos
Dear friend from where you order this tool kit
Please let me know and u have a great day
I have the links in the description. Thank you for watching
Looks like that engine has had very long oil service intervals. It is so stained inside.
Thought I saw a ghost at 1:36!
I am a new channel member. If I have a specific question about my car where should I post it?
