MtH is huge in Japan. NAO is probably the most influential female drummer in Japan. The Japanese HR/HM scene is far and wide ... it is its own thing. There is no need to compare it to anything American.
when in a mood of speed, power metal with thrashy elements - I listen to Lovebites; when I need a pure Rock&Roll I visit Band-Maid; if in a mood of funk-fusion/rock with jazz elements - Gacharic Spin; if I want to break shit up - Hanabie; climbing the mountain of Japan-Rock, to the very pinnacle, the cherry on top, sits Nemophila - hardcore hot chicks. Don't be fooled by their beauty, these wild cats will melt your brain holes))) All these bands are only worth seeing live. That's the biggest test for every performer - can you perform what you write, what you can do in an isolated studio environment, in the singing boot?! The answer is YES!!! All these, and surely many others have one thing in common - MTH, the most influential band in the modern Japanese metal scene! The US or European metal scene can't offer me anything, not anymore. Since I discovered J-Rock, I can't listen to anything else, not anymore, not ever...
They are not the System of Japan. System is the Maximum the Hormone of the US. And whoever said you cannot mosh in Japan doesn't know what he is talking about. You certainly can.
Japanese metal is my choice for the best in the world. MTH has been around for sometime and are a huge influence along with X-Japan, Loudness and Show-Ya plus others on modern J-Metal. My favorites of Japanese metal bands right now are Nemophila and Hanabie, both all women bands. Try Nemophila live Zen and Oiran and Hanabie mv for We Love Sweets and Be the Gal Summer edition. Hanabie started in middle school as a MTH cover band and just went outside Japan this summer. Crushed shows throughout Europe, USA and Australia. They have little in way of pro-shot lives. I caught them live in September and they blew the crowd and place up.
The rock bands in Japan are next level. Just the number of all female bands is off the charts. Check out Band-Maid, BabyMetal, TRiDENT, Nemophila, STMLT, BRIDEAR, Dizzy Sunfist, and Otoboke Beaver(they be crazy).

How could they even avoid people moshing?
Saw them live last year in Brixton, was amazing. Fairly small venue, fairly near the front.
I bet they were crazy live !!
