No its not surprising the world doesn't revolve around Europe or north America and not sure if you noticed plenty of Nintendo games have japanese in jokes and jokes to previous japanese release only game your just being privileged lmfao. (Privileged was a joke just incase somone doesn't realise XD but if you need to be told that you're better off not online tbh)

As a Wave Race 64 speedrunner, I can say there is likely some small remastering done to the overall feel and play of the Shindou version of the game that makes it play better than the original 1.0 JP and US versions. All of the top IL players use the Shindou version and it is the best version for RTA as you pointed out the load time differences in your video. I appreciate the spotlight on these two awesome games and the very well made video SSFF :)

So basically your saying Waverace 64 Shindou, is the better version between the two, and Mario 64 Shindou, is worse mainly for speedrunners so all round being worse overall despite the rumbling helping you not get cramped up which would help speedrunning ironically.

A year and a half after this video was uploaded, the Shindou version of SM64 is getting rereleased in 3D All Stars. Really interesting that the West is getting the Shindou version this time.

Another fun fact: the rumble pack can be modded to be battery-less just by relocating a single resistor. It cuts the weight by a good bit.

Maybe you should cover the select games that have received the largest amount of ports? With some focus given to certain re releases that added more content or graphics & gameplay improvements. Among the most ported games I can think of are Sonic 1, Resi4, Cave Story, Street Fighter 2, etc.

There's this game I want you guys to cover, but I fear it might be a rumor.
I think the game in question is Shining Force III for the Saturn, for the simple reason of what someone from Sega said to face of its developer about the cost of manufacturing the disc and the price of the game. That quote needs to be heard to be believed.

Cover the secret behind the Unlimited Lives code on the US version of Contra: Hard Corps (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, B, A). I got it to work yesterday by spamming the hell out of it before the first stage begins but I tried to do it again today and just can't figure out exactly where you do it and there is next to nothing on the Internet about it. I can't believe this many years have passed and in this day and age of the Internet that it's still relatively unknown.

Technically, the Dual Analog Controller on PlayStation came first, and was released days before Star Fox 64 and the rumble pack. The Japanese models of the Dual Analog Controller had a built in vibration function, and Tobal 2 was the first PS game with analog and vibration support.

The shindou version of Mario 64 is great in my opinion because it added rumble and fixed a lot of glitches and added more voice clips that America already had! I can understand why people don’t like this version saying it’s the worst version because it takes a little longer to load and they fixed the backwards long jump making this terrible for speed running! I would prefer the English original but this is still great in my opinion! My only problem is that Mario doesn’t say So long gay Bowser in this version for obvious reasons!
