Ceiling Trim, Plumbing Started, Viewer Mail | Busy Week on our Alaska Off Grid Homestead
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лис 2024
- This week we work on installing trim on the living room ceiling, begin installing the roof stack for plumbing and get some really helpful viewer mail. We changed the layout of the living room so now I can look out the window instead of having it to our backs. My favorite part, I was able to put up some decorations! Feeling more like home with every project.
Don’t forget to join us next week for a big addition to our solar setup!

Love the living room rearrangement; good choice!
The ceiling looks great. You all did a nice job.
Thanks so much!
We have “favorite outhouse’ stories from Alaska. We are so much fun at dinner parties! Haha 🤣
😂
You guys are doing great, the place is looking good.
Thank you 😊
Yay a water tote
I lucked out. He had just listed it two minutes before I contacted him. $100 is a steal for a food grade one up here.
Personally I think that T&G would look really good in your kitchen.
The ceiling trim really transformed the look. Very nice.
Also, I really like the American flag that you put up.
Thank you ❤️🤍💙
Love the cabin, enjoy watching videos 🙏❤️
Thanks so much 🩷
Metal in the kitchen! Looks great in great room
I think you should continue the metal on the kitchen ceiling as well. With Alaskan winters so long and dark it will reflect more light in your work space.
I would do ceiling of tongue & groove in between the exposed joists in the kitchen.
I vote for metal in kitchen too small a space to confuse the eye with diversity..metal is brighter and continuing the metal will be a nice touch..glad you rearranged the furniture makes it cozy for the winter months..Love your channel ❤
Thank you 😊
Looking really nice!😊
Thank you! 😊
Very nice job. Love the trim on the ceiling✌️🇺🇸
Thanks
I think I would choose metal in the kitchen ceiling. I like it rearranged and the TV on the end wall. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks for watching!
UR WELCOME 👋🙏❤️
I think the tin would look good all thru the house! The trim really looks great with the tin.
Thanks!
Your cabin is looking so cozy
Thanks for another interesting video. I vote for T&G in the kitchen. The cabin is really shaping up!
My choice too!
I like the work y'all have done. Tongue and groove for kitchen ceiling but painted to brighten up.
Great idea!
Looks great. Love the way you arranged the living room. Ceiling looks great, wood in the kitchen would be nice. Blessings!
Thank you so much! 😊
I’m new to your channel and enjoying your videos a lot. My vote goes for metal.
Thank you for joining along!
Glad you moved the TV! I was thinking it'd get to hot and get ruined! I like the furniture placement, gonna feel so cozy this winter, love it! Awesome cabin!👍💥
Thank you!
Happy for Kizer. I've been told that our male GS still looks so young. We neutered him as early as we could. He's almost 5, and still as playful as ever 😊
Kyzr will be five in December! Tess is gonna turn 8 in January. I still can’t figure out how the time has gone so fast. 🐾
Looks fantastic and relaxing to sit in there. I love it ❤
Ah yes 6am upload ~ to start my day
That trim looks good against the metal. Metal ceilings in kitchen is probably cheaper cost but ya better use what the wifey wants...lol
Good call!
Awesome Awesome
Boy the place is really coming together. The view from your roof was nice. Your property is really beautiful. Thank you for the videos I love watching your progress. All the best to you both.
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful guys!
Thank you!!
I love how the ceiling turned out!
Great job on the molding and the vent ,I will bet money that it won’t leak.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Good morning. If u put screen on the "T" it will keep birds from nesting in the pipe. Speaking from experience. 😊
Thanks for the tip!
@ouralaskahomestead I was hoping I didn't offend you by saying something. I just had experienced that before and didn't want any harm to come to yall or the birds. Sometimes, my words come out wrong. Your home & property are looking wonderful. On camera it's looking like it is getting a feel of home for yall.
@@territhreet no offense taken. We appreciate the tips. Thanks!
Hi, I think tongue and groove.
I think it would accent the rest of the wood. Love a real wood look for a kitchen area. Enjoy all your videos.
Thanks!
OMG while watching I was thinking y’all should change living room around and as I continued to watch, ya did.😂 Looks better and really coming along nicely 👍
Light would reflect off the metal ceiling. We had a wood ceiling in our kitchen once & it seem dark & closed in. We enjoy watching your channel from IN, USA
Thanks!
Looks great.
Looks great! You guys have that coffee brewing early today.😁 ☕️
I leave for work at 0430 so gotta get an early start!
You need a 24 inch bit extension. Very handy for many applications. Keep going. You guys are going to make it.
Yes we do
Pat on the back, you always figure things out. Molding looks great. 😊
Thanks 👍
Everything coming togeather nicely! Trim boards look great!
Thanks 😊
I vote for wood ceiling in the kitchen. Give it a warmer, less industrial feel.
Nice job getting the plumbing stack through the roof. I'd continue the tin in the kitchen, but either would look nice. I like the change in the living room furniture too. I'm always rearranging furniture. I will be nice to be able to have water available better. Have a good week.
Wood in kitchen. Looks great
Hi good job with the stack pipe. Put mesh over the inlets to keep critters out….. definately tongue and groove for the kitchen…. Great channel thank you for your updates..❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
The house is looking great!
Thanks 😊
Ceiling looks great! I’d do tin in the kitchen. Great job on the stack. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I vote for metal in the kitchen, but maybe a light blue; like the sky
That’d be pretty 🩵
Your home looks good and you really got a beautiful yard. Great video
Thank you so much!
Hello your house is looking very nice have a great weekend here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
Thank you! You too!
Getting close to October and the woodshed is looking pretty anemic. Hope you have a plan and the right priority!
The wood shed stocking will be in an upcoming episode.
I think the metal will tie it all together in that open space.
I would tongue in groove in the kitchen but only directly on the loft subfloor. I'm a sucker for exposed beams.
Everything looks so nice 😊
Thank you!
Looks good!!
Thanks!
The house is looking great
The living room layout looks better. Starting plumbing, maybe you won't have to freeze while doing your business this winter.
That's what we are hoping!
I think metal would be awesome in the kitchen, but both are nice. I enjoy watching all your video's.
Looking good. I’m sure you’re glad to get the wood stove hooked up. I’m sure you’re needing it!
Yes! It’s been getting chilly. Frost this morning and ice on the top of the dogs outside water dish.
Just an fyi, I wouldn't use a T on the top of the vent. That makes a good spot for a small birds nest or wasp nest, etc. It anything, use a 90 degree elbow. Don't need to worry about water because the vent pipe should be glued and goes to the septic.
Eventually, but right now it’s just an open hole into the bathroom wall!
Looking good
Thanks!
Ceiling looks good. Better put some screen on that vent
I agree with screen on the vent!
If you hold the hole saw with your hand and put drill in reverse it’ll spin off then take the bit and knock it out through bottom hole on hole saw
i think wood as condensation when cooking will drip off tin
Your home is really looking very nice. I like the tin ceiling but for the kitchen, wood would be better or sheetrock.
I totally agree!
More and more homey~. I think not a metal ceiling in the kitchen.
Tongue and groove painted white would look nice and leave the beams exposed.
Put metal, cleaning it will be better than having to paint it.
Just wish had longer or more. But understand heaps projects going on. Just enjoy content
Will you have to put some mesh on the exhaust pipe on the roof? To stop critters getting in. Nice job 🎉
Probably a good idea
Its looking really nice. I'm not sure either choice would look good but if you choose ship lap would do the same color of the ceiling trim in the living room.
👍🏻
♥
Hi I would do metal in the kitchen as well give it some brightness
In the kitchen where you mentioned tounge and groove why not put in some 2x2s and cut down the tongue and groove to go up inside the beams so the beams are exposed for veiw and looks
That would look nice!
👍🎃🌻
Leave the beams showing. Inset the metal to thr roof, It will look sweet. Leave storage above! Mason jars and the like.
I like that idea! Never have too much storage.
Remember dog and porcupines don’t get along. Dogs think they can grab them with their mouths and then they are really in pain, plus you get the vet bill. House looks great this far.
Ouch!
I know it was a tight spot and you probably don’t have to deal with codes and what not, but the pipe going through the roof should’ve been at least 3” the heat and the cold air will make frost and will choke the vent , it’s only during the winter and vents are over rated, love the ceiling
You are correct, we are not forced to follow code here but we did read up on it prior to installing and the Uniform Plumbers Code recommended a 2” pipe.
@@ouralaskahomestead sure 2” is fine for vents I’m saying because of the heat/ cold the vent going through the roof will freeze up with frost, it’ll be fine
@@brooktrout1477 well shoot! Hopefully it’ll be fine 🤞
Metal for the kitchen nothing says rustick like metal
Thanks!
Thank you SO much! Your support is very appreciated ☺️
Hello, love your videos, one question, did that abandoned cabin ever sell?
Yes it did. The guy we were looking at it for bought it.
i think Toung and Groove would be better metal would make it echoing or tinny in there if you do a video ? dont you think good job on the roof there where it goes up there was small gap on the top side you put silicon but you shoed us on the cam you could see it the trim looks good to nice colour matches the celing style with the iron in the lounge room
Thank you 😊
Thank you for not wearing Crocks on the ladder.
😂
How do you find your wishlist?
It’s in the Description under (or beside on some devices) the video
