    Lawn care is a good side job if you have your own equipment (mower, weed eater, blower). Doing two yards a day at about $60/yard is pretty easy and only takes an hour or less per yard. Firefighters have been doing this on their off days for years.

    *_If I had more time, I’d do some of these:_*
    *(1) Cultivate a strong personal brand, then (2) sell that brand. You could do courses, masterminds, 1-1 coaching, and so on.*
    *Create authority in the investment space, then start a basic investment fund (surprisingly simple), investing other people’s money. Note: this is not advice, take it for educational purposes only.*
    *Create 3-7 monetizable communities fulfilling the largest verticals within an industry.*

    We built out a garage apartment at our old house and air b n b it. We were in a coastal area so lots of demand. It was small one bedroom. We made over 15K a year after all expenses and I even paid a maid so I didn't have to clean it. We lost that option when our home got hit by hurricane Harvey but it was nice while it lasted.

    Ive ran all the numbers as an Uber driver driving full time 40k miles a year with a 20k car and its value depreciation after 5 years/200k miles . After gas, maintenance (oil, tune ups, change tires and 100k transmission, car washes). An uber driver will net profit roughly $10-$11 an hour. That does not account for added insurance or license fees as I figure you'd be driving a car anyways with or w/o the UBer job.

    Bob, I did Amazon Flex for almost 2 yrs. It was great for about a yr then they started overloading me with packages, a lot of which went to apartments. Apartments are a nightmare. Most of their offices would not take the packages so you had to cruise around the complex and hunt for the right one. A lot did not have good signage so it took forever to find the right apartment. Then if you left the pkg on the door step, you took a chance of someone stealing it and you got a blackmark for that. Then to get a shift you had to continually refresh their app to get a shift. Some people devised an automatic app to do this for them and I barely ever got a shift. Maybe they've changed some bu8t that was my experience with them.

    • @robbiegleason4462
      @robbiegleason4462 5 років тому +2

      Amazon is now having drivers take a pic of the item on the porch to prove they delivered it. The image shows up in the customer's order. It's not on every package so I think it's new and I know this only from a consumer's perspective, so I don't know if that service prevents a driver from getting a ding for stolen packages, but I thought I'd share just in case.

      Yes apartments are a nightmare the ones in my area are getting lockers now also when customers are ordeeing see if they have an amazon locker in the area where u can pick up yourself or ups store or piblic mail places with po boxes if i attempt a delivery i can always take the package back if it isnt safe to leave but i dont work for amazon flex i actually deliver full loads

    • @Marie-st3pi
      @Marie-st3pi 5 років тому +1

      I also did Amazon Flex for a little while in my area of Illinois. It was extremely difficult to get shifts because hundreds of people are vying for a time slot. I often had to drive an hour or longer to get to a flex pick up warehouse. If you wait in line too long because of all the other drivers they will say you arrived late. Too many lates are a problem. I often received deliveries for businesses and if I was starting at three or 4 PM you must realize schools and businesses close between 3 and 5 PM so they were often undeliverable, which is a bad mark against you. As well as the fact that you are on your own time meaning unpaid after your two hour, three hour or four hour slot, so the time to return back to the warehouse with one undeliverable package was ridiculous. I as a delivery person was a victim of somebody stealing packages! Those are extremely bad marks against you. Every single package was photographed on my route. So in addition to trying to figure out where an apartment building is or homes that have no rhyme or reason to the numbering system in a subdivision you also had to stop, scan the package with your phone, set it where it needed to be, ring a bell, wait for somebody to come to the door, when they did not come you had to photograph the package hoping you had a good signal in order to keep a connection to take a picture then hustle back to your car to drive around to find the next building or home. Many deliveries were after dark and homes have either no number on their house or one that is impossible to see in the dark meaning no lights showing you the number. I have no idea how firemen and ambulances find these people in an emergency! It was very good money while it lasted but as soon as Fall weather arrived and leaves fall and rain comes I slipped on a bunch of wet leaves one day, that’s when it hits home that you are on your own insurance wise because you are an independent contractor, which also means you are paying both sides of your tax bill. You cannot sue Amazon or Flex in the event you have a slip fall and break something serious injury. Once Fall arrived and Winters ice it was not worth the money I earned for the overload of packages, numerous complaints via email only, and the risk I took. Amazon is only concerned about themselves, they expect loads of packages done in a very small timeframe, often a long distance away from the pick up warehouse and if it exceeds that timeframe it’s on you and your time is free after that. #GoBezos

    Forgot to say that I had an idea to offer a window cleaning service to the small non-corporate, hole-in-the wall restaurants; I’ve been in a few lately that were just awful. Doesn’t seem like they clean their baseboards either. Not very appetizing.

      Lagunaticmom Actually if u could get ur name out there w realtors and homeowners theres a need. Im bout to sell my bi level and all my windows need cleaned. If u got ins. good workers Im telling u windows need cleaned on old or even new construction. But Id start by showing up urself w a introduction and try to beat the price their already paying for it may be a pkage deal they have w a contract. But if u could even get one contract it could be hundreds n new construction. Not to mention homeowners like me who need someone this week! Good luck my friend.

    For Uber/Lyft, consider what your state allows for car insurance. Unless you are doing it full time, buying commercial insurance may be too expensive, and a lot of car insurance companies will drop you as a policy holder if they find out you drive for a rideshare. Yes, Uber/Lyft will cover an accident, but after that you may be out of insurance.

    I do not plan a menu. because I will not stick with it. However I will buy a large roast on sale and cut it up per serving size. Then freeze. One will be used for barbecue, one for stew. and maybe one for Roast, potatoes and carrots. Three meals from one large roast. I do the same with a large package of lean hamburger meat. Break it up per serving size. I live alone so it is challenging to prepare for only one person. One package is used for a great hamburger. One is just the right size for two tacos or taco salad.

      A lot of it depends on the time you drive, weekends you can make 200-300 a day easy... During the week you have to be more selective when you drive. Early mornings between 3 and 6 are best and late evenings..

      As a driver for Lyft and Uber for the last three years I have seen the payouts go down, down, down. At first I thought maybe it was just me and being out in the burbs and only going to the city of Chicago on weekends. But ending up at the parking lot in the airport many many drivers were saying it seemed as though their wages were cut by about 30 to 40% across-the-board. That was in the fall of 2017. It has not gotten any better. There is a great overabundance of drivers, so the algorithms of time logged in and distance from a pick up are definitely in play but I have waited as long as two full hours logged into both rideshare apps without one single ping during the early evening. At any given time when I first began driving there were 4 to 6 other cars available to pick up passengers, as of the past few months every single time I turn the app on there are 8 to 12 other drivers waiting to pick up passengers. So there is often a greater time waste waiting to get a passenger. No passenger equals no money. NYC has finally limited the number of rideshare drivers that they will permit in the city. That cannot come to Chicago soon enough! As soon as the mayor is out he won’t have ties to his brothers business in our city and we may finally get limits on the number of drivers which will make it more financially feasible for drivers. With this you are also an independent contractor who receives a 1099, meaning you will pay the corporate tax as well as the personal tax on your earnings. You may end up owing money if you have made a lot of wages with driving. Recordkeeping with Lyft and Uber is vital! This is not a hobby this is real money that you will have to pay real taxes on and you better have deductions straight in order to claim them. Most insurance companies currently exclude you from having any coverage whatsoever while you were even logged in on a rideshare app, not having any people in your car just sitting there waiting for a ride you are an uninsured person. So to be legal you must purchase additional car insurance coverage that will cover rideshare activities. Some car dealers are actually adding to the sales contract that you signed and never read that you cannot use the vehicle for rideshare or they could accelerate the loan. A neighbor of mine who was driving had a nasty drunken passenger get out of his vehicle slam the door and then proceeded to kick it in before he could get over there to stop him or drive away. He made a claim for insurance coverage due to passenger damage to the rideshare company, and was informed because the damage was less than $2500 they were unable to pay out any coverage for it! So now the guy drives around with a dented door because the rideshare company insurance policy will not cover what a rideshare passenger did. I have enjoyed doing this driving I have made good money overall I will give it a thumbs up but you must absolutely have your eyes open and know all of your risks and liabilities. I have had wonderful passengers and I have had lying passengers who got a complaint posted to me because they left too late to make it to an airport in time. I have picked up unruly obnoxious drunken passengers, I have picked up delightful passengers out for a good evening. I must also add Uber spent its first full three years in Chicago over emphasizing how you need NEVER tip your driver! That really hurt almost every industry that lives off of their tips in Chicago. To this day I absolutely get far better tips from Lyft passengers than I ever did see from Uber passengers. I think they’ve all just been brainwashed that tipping is not necessary. Yes we do make earnings for driving people but let’s get real here I just saved you $10,000 by avoiding a DUI by riding with me! I’m sure you can handover a few dollar tip since you had enough money to leave a bar drunk we all know that was not an inexpensive night. I have also encountered people to vomit in my car more than once. Some passengers behave as if this is their personal car or you are there high-priced limousine driver and they begin doing excessive PDA, you get my drift here, in the backseat. Some people have brought open liquor in the car hiding it then leaving their can, bottle or cup in my car. Some people have actually opened their take-out food and began chowing down in my car, while dropping crumbs or pieces of food everywhere. You absolutely gotta love working with the public to keep your sanity in this job.👍🏼😉😄🤣😍🚗🚘

    Hey, these are some awesome side hustles to get involved in. If you do enough and get good at referrals and diversifying your income, they could all lead to a full-time income. Do you do any of these? We recommend Uber, Lyft and Turo as our top 3!
