- I cover the final 14 miles of my hike on the Scottish National Trail from Morvich to Ullapool, climbing to a height of 413 metres on my final day. The trail continues from Inverlael but I'd had enough for this trip. I'll return to Ullapool to complete the trail to Cape Wrath in Spring 2019. This is day 7 of 7.

Andrew was a legend and big inspiration for me to start camping and filming for youtube , the guy was out in all weather conditions on his jack jones , nothing seemed to get him down when he was out in the hills doing what he loved , ive probably said this in other comment sections , but r.i.p. mate
I have loved watching Andrews videos I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt if he wasn't taken so early in life he would have been the biggest camping u tuber he was a trail blazer for big stuart,Colin etc,such a shame and wish u Suzanne and your family all the best,so hard to watch his videos sometimes as its heart breaking but I enjoy them so much I love watching them RIP "LOVELY"

Like all Andrew’s followers on UA-cam my wife and I are devastated to learn about his passing. We watched all his videos and admired his free spirit and his unique fun personality. Very very sad.

Im stuck here in May 2020 during lockdown, ive spent most of the day watching these videos and thinking of doing the SNT myself, really enjoyed the videos and am now totally deflated to hear of Andy's passing, what a character, a sad loss RIP

@@SeanStewart88 Hi Sea Stew. I know it's a shock and really sad. From what i gather it was cancer but it was a rapid deterioration. Maybe he knew and did not say anything. Will miss his banter and charm.

Well Steve it was a case of pay £10.50 to take away fish and chips or go to the pub and pay even more, alternatively I could buy a fishing rod and catch my own fish but it wouldn't be the same... nah I didn't grudge paying on this occasion, it was so damn good after a week on camping meals. Ullapool is a nice place, been 4 times now, camped in the same place every time lol. Can't wait to go back.
@@hfthscot Yes I agree after camping you do deserve a good treat. When you catch your own fish it does taste better.lol, Are you doing any winter camping. I stopped one time in Scotland to pick up two hitch hikers and my wife went of it. They were two stunning Italian ladies. Thanks Steve. May your camera rest in peace.

Must have a look thro your vid collection. I'm planning the Great Glen way next summer with a Ben Nevis hike to round it off. I'm sure you've done the GGW..?
Yes I've done the GGW you are better heading North tho, from Fort William to Inverness, therefore you may want to do Ben Nevis first, unless you are planning to return to Fort Willian after you reach Inverness.

Yeh, thought that also but the nevis hike is a charity thing. A thro the night hike to the summit. Thought I'd up my 'challenge' by arriving after the GGW.. Hehe..

It's actually not great news unfortunately it just means I was too late for the op. But we'll not talk about that. I might join you on the WHW if you remind me nearer the time. My wishlist is back up at the bottom of my description, added a few more items, mainly maps which I'll use for future missions.
head for the hills Scotland will do mate, we’re driving up to fort William or Glasgow depends on where we leave the car on the Thursday 18th April to start the walk on the 19th good Friday but al remind you before then pal 👍🏻👍🏻

If i had enough money I would build a statue of Hermit Hill straddling Portpatrick harbour like the Colossus of Rhodes . It would be a sight to see at the start of the Southern Upland Way.

It was a difficuit choice, maybe I'll try the other chipper next time, I assume it will be a bit cheaper?

Excellent video (and series). The fish and chips looked lovely...but where was the wally and / or the pickled onions and / or the mushy peas? Shame there will be no more (videos, not fish and chips) until next year. Still, I still have lots of "back editions" to view, thankfully. Co-incidentally, you started you last day (Friday 7th September) on the day I started my attempt at the WHW. Unfortunately after 4 days and 40 miles I had to give up and return home to Essex. My pack was too heavy but I could have managed had it not been for the fact that after 2 and a half days the weather turned, became atrocious and was forecast to be atrocious for the next week. Worse, and this was the real killer, I got the squits!!!!! Say no more. Never mind...hopefully I shall have another attempt next year - possibly in April or May. Cheers.

Great video from you, pity that you did not get a lift to Ullapool, I don't fancy midge flavoured coffee or a hot drink flavoured by Scottish midges, a disgraceful price for fish and chips, daylight robbery, my local chippy the cost would be £5.50 with a salad added.
P.s. heyup herm,despite the price I could hear a chorus of angels singing when the fish supper box was opened. Hallelujah buddy. 👍

I've had fish and chips from the Seaforth chippy when I was up there camping with the family, it's good but a hell of a price. Did you go to see Corrieshalloch gorge when you were up that way? Atb Glenn
Hi No i never knew of the gorge until you mentioned it, but it would have taken me longer and wouldn't have made it to Ullapool.
Shame we have to wait so long for the next installments but still, there is plenty on your channel I haven' seen yet......£10.50 for fish & chips ? they must have the monopoly to be able to charge those prices........Now, where can we send you some socks ?
lol only a week between episodes, just trying to space it out. Oh you mean until next year, yeah true. It will pass quicky though it always does and in the meantime I have some Cape Wrath Trail videos to put up so I'm actually not done yet. :D
Did you try hitchhiking with your thumb out Mr Hills and drivers were ignoring you or were you just hoping the locals would stop for you without any signal!?😎
I'm a bit timid when it comes to hitch hiking so I just walked on and hoped someone might stop as it's happened before. To be honest though there wouldn't have been much chance for a vehicle to stop because they were moving quite fast and always in front of someone else, and nowhere to pull in for most of it.
@@hfthscot tell me about it! I just phoned the number given in the CWT guide book and a lovely Scottish lady came in her minibus and took me to the campsite! In my defence it was 7:30 pm with the light failing!!😉

@@snowymatrix I seen on Hounds of Howgate's film that he used the taxi service too.
You really need to use a lay-by to try and hitch a lift so it's safe. Don't be shy. I always pick up hitch-hikers, but may offer a lift still if it's safe to stop.

Hi Mark I'm afraid that's it for this year BUT I do actually have some unseen content that I plan to upload soon. I've not had time recently due to a spell in hospital. I'm out now and improving so I'll maybe get the footage uploaded in January! Stay tuned.

@@hfthscot it's a fair schlep for me,but get there every other year and stay on a site nr Arisaig.Now that's a lovely site,great pitches and views n sunsets over the summer isles,as I'm sure you know! The owner of the site is a real character,if she reckons your well off it's expensive but if you're a hiker or your car's a piece of crap she charges very little really.Do wild camps down the coast and inland around that area,but enjoy other parts of the highlands too..
