- Maj. Gen. Linda Singh was a prominent figure during the Baltimore riots of 2015 when the governor called in the National Guard. You will see her regularly at major state events. She's a commander with humble beginnings and calls the National Guard the best thing that ever happened to her. Gov. Larry Hogan appointed Singh to be the 29th adjutant general of Maryland in 2015. She's responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Maryland Military Department. She was born in Frederick County and joined the National Guard at 17 years old.
