When this all corona shit ends Im going to Wales to college (I’m from Poland so it’s a big step) so I can’t even explain how much I’m grateful for this vid girl!
I was so sad thinking that I will never be able to go to university in america and have that life you see in videos but listening to you talking about how much fun it was in London I feel much better. In the future I will probably study in London because I live near it and there are good universities there.
I'm still in grade 8 in school, but I am really worried about my future, so I am already picking out a uni, asking people who go there for advice, and your videos make me feel so much more safe about uni, and it's a lot of help! I have a sister who is going to be a freshman in September (hopefully) and she finds your videos very helpful! Thank you Macerly!
I just finished my first year in university too! And everything you say is so accurate! First semester is usually the most expensive one, since you get new friends and you want to get to know them better you go out more than you should and end up spending a lot of money 😂 And my way of making friends was approaching them first, since I'm an extrovert that was kinda easy, but I know it's hard for some people, but talking to someone really increases your chances of meeting amazing people, even if it's just a hello in the elevator or a weather talk, really! I also joined a lot of clubs so I would find ways to distract myself, like the social responsibility club, it actually makes you more confident because you know nobody is going to judge you and you get to go places to help people (I don't know the different names it can have in other countries) but it's a great experience to be a part of a club, not only for the friends but also for all the new things you get to learn👌 And an advice I have because of my first year of uni, don't go out drinking every single day! 😂 We know you just made friends and want to have fun with them but it won't help your wallet or you the next day when you have to sit in class!! Anyway I loved your video!!! That's great advice for people who is just going to enter first year👌 Love Maddie from Mexico !!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
well.. I just wished I had the opportunity to spend money for meeting new friends bc I've just started uni online bc of corona and it's obviously hard af to get to know people and make friends in these times
Omg I’m so happy you made this video!!! I’m actually moving to London for uni in October so this is so helpful aaaah I can’t stress enough how much I thank you for that xx
University will be one amazing opportunity, and Maddie makes the several months prior to it educational for me! Really wise of her to prepare me for it and hype me even more! Love you, Maddie! Next year hopefully we will meet
I totally agree with lots of what you said in this video! I started 1st year in England this year like you and this would have been a helpful video before dragging my butt across Europe to a new country :D I remember I was absolutely terrified freshers and went to just 2 parties.....just 2...I didn't want to spend any money, I was searching for the cheapest supermarkets, I didn't buy any snacks because I was like "You have 3 meals that's enough"..it was an absolute mess but I still wouldn't trade it for anything because it was key in building character. And if I were to give any advice it would be to go all out during freshers- go to parties, go to socials, go to taster sessions literally do everything you can possibly do because you don't get another freshers and it's a great way to get yourself out there, also it's not yet as serious- you don't have deadlines, exams or the likes and trust me you will have enough time to prepare if you are responsible with your time and priorities later on. :))
It's been my first year at uni for me too and I really relate to most of the things you showed in the video, I really think it could help people to at least have a little idea of what it is going to be like! Loved it 🤩
This year was my first at university so I can relate to most of the things you showed in the video, but with some differences. I study engineering in Pavia e since It Is a small city it's really Easy to hang out with friends and do fun stuff (it's also cheaper compared ti a city like Milan). Now I've been in quarantine for over two months and I really miss going ti uni and staying with my friends. Great video and stay safe!
I'm going to high school next year and i'm so excited I moved only a year ago so I don't have many friends but i'm still super excited to make new friends and work hard to have good grades and fun in high school. I love your videos and they always make me feel good!
Thanks for making this video, your tips will help me prepare for uni next year! I’m going to UCL next year (I’m a erasmus student) so it would be really helpful if you could make a budgeting video!!
this is so helpful!! I’m going to uni in a relatively big city starting in September so everything you’ve said is going to prepare me for when I start! ❤️
For a whole year my friend and I worked hard with the dream of going to a uni in Istanbul and we've actually got into schools in Istanbul (even though they are different schools) but now we have to wait for another year bc of the coronavirus... Though I'm still very grateful, i wish this to be over soon. Till then, I'm gonna watch videos like this!
I have also just finished my first year I’m also studying economics but I am studying in Belfast. I am loving it so far and it sounds like you are too x
Thank you so much for this video, I’m introverted and sort of nervous I won’t make any friends at Uni, but your videos have been really helpful. Anyways, it would be great if you’d make a video about freshers💕
Next year will be my first year at university in Barcelona. I've always been a fan of the dormroom life and beeing independent but, seeing as I live very near by, that wont be happening, however I'm glad I will be able to stay at home with my family and friends. Besides I'm hopeful that I will be able to do an Erasmus and study abroad some time :)
Really interesting video! I didn’t expect some of the differences with my own uni experience here in Belgium (also the fact that you didn’t know anyone... I would be stressedddd xp)! Loved this 80’s editing style 😋
This year I'll be going to uni, I'm really nervous especially because i'm not going into the major I wanted to because the universities at my city dont offer it, so i'm kind of struggling with that, but this video inspiered me to just take advantaje of my first year of uni and make the most out of it. Ly♡
I really want to go to a university outside my country (I live in israel) and your videos are an inspiration for me and they give me hope because you are an exemple for someone that decided to study abroad and it looks like it works for you :)
In the finances video, it would be awesome if you could maybe collab with a few people to get numbers from different areas! I myself know that in Oxford where I am, it is somewhat cheaper than London, but also know that some places are a lot cheaper, and it's worth to get some different input! Also, although uni is stressful, it is also amazing, and I can completely honest say that it has so far not only been the most stressful time in my life, but also the most amazing in so many ways!
I can't believe you've finished your first year at university already! Hope us brits made you enjoy your stay here :) also... whos been here since the DIY phone cases and room decor days?
MADDIEEEE!!!! I know you since the first 2014/2015 DIY’s videos, and I’m so happy for seeing you growing and enjoying life as much as when you were younger 😁 I study economics and I’ve started this semester four weeks ago. Feeling excited!!!! Greetings and the best for us. I follow you as: @gianellaalfarocadillo (I talk to you a lot on instagram lol) 😁
Im currently at 9th grade and studying in gymnasium, Im from Lithuania, in the future I would like to study in Norway, and to this day Im doing a lot of reasearch about Norway universities (tuition fees, transport, rent and etc.) I hope Macerly would make a video “What it’s like to study in Norway?”.
Here's my university-related comment: Just finished my Masters in Fine Arts, having studied Creative Writing (poetry) from home. Still waiting for the overall course mark though, but feeling very confident of passing with a decent 'grade.'
Studying in London is so cool, but gosh if I was from Norway and could have free university there I’d definitely take it, but idk how much the experience is different aboard
Quick question, how did you choose the university that you go to? Did you always want to go there or did you just hear about it from a friend or something?
Nå har du jo ikke opplevd norsk universitetskultur, men vil du si det er veldig forskjellig utifra det du vet? Og kan freshers week sammenlignes med fadderuka?
Her talking about living on campus was literally like: "Well everyting sucks and I certainly wouldn't do it again, but overall it was a great experience".
Really enjoyed the video! Found studying in Belgium way different and hard to make friends but I love to see you thriving! I’d love to win the giveaway because I’ll be moving out of my dorms and need new things hahaha
When this all corona shit ends Im going to Wales to college (I’m from Poland so it’s a big step) so I can’t even explain how much I’m grateful for this vid girl!

I'm still in grade 8 in school, but I am really worried about my future, so I am already picking out a uni, asking people who go there for advice, and your videos make me feel so much more safe about uni, and it's a lot of help! I’ll be moving to Durham to study Psychology in September, and you have so many helpful tips for moving to a new city etc😊
