The Jeep Wrangler has been a staple in the off-road scene for decades, but it has just made a fashion statement by expanding into the luxury market. In 2024, this off-road pioneer got a facelift that includes a new grille, wheels, and redesigned interior. It has been around for decades, but this is only the fourth version.
These upgrades should be present in the next-generation 2025 Jeep Wrangler as well. The 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model is the only one that Jeep has mentioned as getting a "upgrade" in the near future. Although information on the 2025 Jeep Wrangler is currently unavailable, we anticipate that the majority of the current standard features will be carried over to the new model. If this turns out to be accurate, the standard equipment for this off-road SUV will include an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, a Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, manual air conditioning, cloth seats, keyless ignition, and more.
Our guess is that the basic 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque will remain under the hood of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler. One available option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The usual six-speed manual transmission and the ability to shift on the fly for four-wheel drive (4X4) are also expected to be retained. Upgraded 4X4 systems and an eight-speed automatic transmission will also be available to buyers.
Customers looking for a little more power can go for the 392 model, which features a 392-cubic-inch V8 engine that produces 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. This model comes with a standard four-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Wrangler 4xe is an optional upgrade for buyers, however it is limited to the four-door vehicle and is available in trim levels higher than Sport S. This version will have 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and electric motor. Additionally, this powertrain has an all-electric range of up to 22 miles. Only the eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are available on this model.
Along with the news of its new agreement with the UAW, Jeep also revealed a few new products. There was a passing reference to a "update" coming to the Wrangler's PHEV variant. The exact nature of this upgrade is unknown, although it may involve incorporating this powerplant into the two-door variants beginning in 2025. When Jeep says "2025," it's not clear if they mean the calendar year or the model year. If the latter is true, then we may not see this update until the 2026 model year.
