Darkrai in the core games: mischievous but not evil
Darkrai in Mystery Dungeon: A sociopathic mastermind who tried to take over the world and make it a world of darkness...
Well, it is said (in this game) that if attacked while time-traveling you lose your memories.
So if Darkrai was originally sociopathic and then lost his memories it is entirely possible he developed along a different path, a mischievous but not evil path.
If that distortion in time went way, way, way, back to the past then when Darkrai redeveloped as mischievous no one would be able to remember Darkrai as evil because technically he never was
...if someone existed completely outside of that timeline they could remember Darkrai both ways and be confused about the continuity error before posting a comment in some online liminal space briefly mentioning it without really thinking about the ramifications of time travel and amnesia
your thoughts on this conversation?
Darkrai in the movie: a hero who's misunderstood.
@@alanherlan3429 Maybe that means the mystery dungeon games take place before modern human society was formed. Clearly humans exist, but maybe it's a more primitive era even earlier (or around the same time) as Legends Arceus! Just an interesting thought lol.
Although, a slight potential plot hole- when the main character loses their memory, their personality and sense of right and wrong still stays in tact. So in theory, Darkrai should still be a psychopath with no memories. Although, technically that's disproven when you recruit it after the second ending. And I still like my first theory (that goes with yours) better anyway.
One of the best DS games, Hands down. Long live the Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky!
If we include Switch games, we see that another Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game, Pokémon Legends Arceus, surpasses Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers.
@@candyneige6609 I don't agree, Explorers has way more content and a much better story.
@@ndbringer96 But Pokémon Legends Arceus changes what defines as a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game.
Golden games of pokemon. 😭
@@cinderaceyt.3100 Especially when Pokémon Legends Arceus is now the best Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game.
my favorite game the story beautiful the villaines are amazing i have played this game soo many times over and over and the music my god the bloody music and then Grovyle you're farewell made me cry every single time i replay this game
I've played red rescue team and explorers of sky now and both had amazing stories that make me look forward to future pmd games. Let's hope.
MAN THE ENDING NONONO AA A A A A A
Man im so sad now.
they shouldve made it so u have to complete the last special episode (the one where u play as grovyle) to be able to do the darkrai arc. they shouldve made it that the specialepisode ends with dialga telling grovyle, celebi, and dusknoir that the the player and their partner are in danger fighting with the pokemon that destroyed temporal tower (not giving the name of the pokemon) and dialga has the 3 of them go back in time and the episode just ends. then u have to play the original story where u play as yourself and u play the post game and eventually get to the darkrai arc and grovyle, celebi, and dusknoir show up right before u fight darkrai and they fight with u, cressilia, and ur partner.
or they shouldve at least made it (in the real game) that the player and partner meet arceaus and arceaus tells them that he saved the pokemon from the future and tells them about what happened in the grovyle special episode
@@saklee1777 no because the special episodes didn't exist in time/darkness
too messy
and it's bit of a stretch
it was a pain in the butt of defeat darkrai as an eevee
Imagine a new game and ur darkrai after the palkia atack
That would be cool as hell!
I like palkia alot
LV 100 with 999 HP...
Cheatcode used
What was the purpose of the O, R, T, and V Unown Stones there?
pretty sure they just rushed through the game with cheated max everything, not caring much about their inventory
those deals 60 dmg though, sucks it eats inventory wayy too much than rocks that loves to miss.
Alb es darkrai cuando insultan a su snk xd
Palkia: shows up, slaps ultimate villian, banishes him to obscurity, refuses to elaborate, leaves.
Like a boss
Chad behaviour
Random edit of this, Palkia: shows up, shoots a beam at the ultimate villain, banishes him to some time in the past and also leaves the villain with amnesia, refuses to elaborate, leaves
I love palkia :3
This isn't the true end! The true end has you throw a reviser seed, Darkrai picks it up and laughs himself to death. I've done that in my past several playthroughs, you could have too.
Wait what?
@@Frostblitz96 The reviser seed is a lookalike item. It revives them but then the character notes "Wait, this isn't a reviver seed, there's an S! And they laugh until they faint again. It's useless, but freaking hilarious to use against Darkrai. He gets back up, realizes he's been pranked and laughs until he faints.
Wait, really? How do you do that?
@@TheHadesShade Throw a Reviser Seed at him and hope he catches it and carries it on him the whole fight.
5:56 THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE.
No wonder why it showed up in red instead of the usual yellow.
Maybe it turns red if the damage is 1.000 or more? Idk
Yeah, the number is red when you deal a thousand or more. No Pokémon can have that much HP so it's basically on the level of Horn Drill.
Lv 100 Nani! Is it even possible to get max 999 health without cheats?
@@kevinmorad1277 If it was, it will really take... A VERY long while. And yet all the end of the world still didn't happen yet and you're lucky to know about it.
@@gengarzilla1685 Tbh more accurately, no playable pokemon, since bosses can have over 999 HP
how the heck can darkrai even make a demensional hole and travel through time? and if he can do it, shouldn’t cressilia be able to as well?
This is the stuff that made me think Darkrai had a hidden accomplice. Like, say... Giratina?
when i first played the game, i was sooo mad that the player didn’t get to competely destroy darkrai and instead palkia does. how dare he take all the spotlight after the player is the one that originally started the idea of saving the world back when they were human!
Gods are like that
And darkrai isnt dead but is den
never thought about that but now I'm pissed lol
I think it's satisfying; Darkrai gets a fate worse than death. Being subjected to the same fate as the protagonist except *THERE IS NO ONE TO HELP HIM.*
@@ProfessionalNamielleLewder69 well anyone could have delivered that attack and this asshole stole my glory lol.
Palkia: comes out of nowhere and yeets darkrai
It makes so much sense if Dan was Darkrai himself now!
That would be very twisted lol
I also think that, all that's missing to close the loop would be Dan becoming darkrai in the future, heck if we go with the "Dan split in two when he disappeared after he saved the time tower" theory it's a closed loop
If Grovyle were here, this battle would be much easier. Despite the core series having different mechanics, Grovyle is stronger than Cresselia in this game.
Even with max level Cresellia still does nothing, are we even really surprised?
Her level and stats weren't maxed.
@@gengarzilla1685 Her level is 100, but I was referring to how she didn't land a single blow. All Misses
If explorers of sky is ever remade one thing I hope they work on is darkrai's character give him a actual motive other then just being evil for the sake of it. Make his boss fight more fair and less cheap, give darkrai his own theme too he just reuses dusknoir's theme i mean come on. Explorers has a lot of minor issues too like how broken electric types are but this is the biggest one darkrai is the worst part of the postgame by far and very much feels like something the writers threw in at the last second. It's very strange to have such a weak generic basic character in pmd a game series known for it's complex characters.
I had this very conversation with some friends.
Even taking pages from Kirby would work.
Why not make Darkrai a nihilistic entity? One who believes his mere existence is to live in darkness? Maybe he wanted a world of darkness so that he could belong somewhere and have a reason to exist? Maybe people villainized him for causing nightmares and illusions just by being present, so he decided to become the villain he was treated as?
Instead, he just wants a world of darkness and never elaborates further. We have the What and the How, but we're never given the Why. Even a simple selfish "Because I want to and I like suffering" would suffice, and we're not even given that.
some people are just evil for the sake of being evil. We can have that too yah know.
yes but for explorers games that's pretty boring especially when every other character at least has personality evil or not and at best is complex too. I have the same issue with smithy from mario rpg, the shadow queen is generic in ttyd too but at least she's a cool plottwist and has some backstory@@lupvirga
Nah, Darkrai being just pure evil and not having a motive works. Not everyone needs to have a logical reason for what they do. You can't really complain about that.
i think it should have ended with shaymin doing something
Or even Grovyle going to the past just to join the final battle
@@JorgeGonzalez-xv1zo I miss Grovyle... Luckily, I played Super Mystery Dungeon and unlocked both him, Dusknoir and Celebi
I remember being nowhere near level 100 for this fight and failing repeatedly because earthquake would take out my entire team
It's such a good scene. The way your partner just gives up and joins Darkrai, and that "The world of darkness is going to be wonderful" line. Indeed it felt like a nightmare, I remember my kid self back in the day was like "NO IT CAN'T BE!!!"
How the hecc did you get to level 100
Grinding in dungeons and/or joy seeds and golden seeds from missions
@@Akumo69 or he just cheated
He absolutely cheated. If he didn't, Cresselia would only be level 47 (and as she's a guest, levelling up Cresselia is impossible).
I mean, you'd think the 999 HP on both the hero and partner would've given it away?
Just hacking the game files
cheat codes or aton of grinding
Mystery Dungeon is when Palkia is at his best. I guess Dialga, too. But Giratina is at his best during Legends Arceus (because no special battle music in MD, personality is different from the other games; wierd how different MD Giratina is compared to Giratina from other games). 😂
Huh so these games are sorta connected in a way since I've completed time and is going to do the next one
What happens if you choose the "..........." option at 4:04 ?
*Spoiler alert*
your partner tells you not to fall for the trick and that it's a nightmare. The cutscene continues as normal.
I was like 99% sure it was real and pikachu was pretending to be on his side and then was gonna backstab darkrai and I was trying to go along with it. But it’s the same outcome in the end
I’m so glad over the years I wasn’t the only one who fucking loved this series
I hate how dull and boring darkrai is as a character and this boss fight just makes me hate him even more why does cressila have horrible AI and like 1 good move, why does darkrai get double team. I no joke had to reset because darkrai got max evasiveness and I only hit him once I struggled myself to death, then used up all my pp missing him and struggled again still missing him. He didn't even have any pp left evasiveness has to be one of the dumbest most bullshit cheap mechanics ever lmao. His boss fight is just blatant padding and not good game design, every other boss fight is fair. I get it fits with darkrai's character but this shit is just too far.
true, i feel like the whole post game story with darkai was pretty rushed.
They should've atleast let us evolve before any of this
Wait a sec there's something I don't get here. In this whole game, there are absolutely NO humans, neither in the future or the present. So how does it make sense for you to use to. be a human if they aren't meant to exist? I don't get it
BEST ENDING: DARKRAI WAS SEALED AWAY AND YOU SAVED EVERYONE AND YOURSELF WITH NO PRICE TO PAY!!!
its sad that its basicly the end of the game and after that you can finally evolve whats basicly useless since you dont need it anymore xd
how do u even reach lvl 100 so fast
Am I the only one who is PISSED that they made Darkrai the main villain?
I won't accept an ending where cresselia doesn't end up in the magma
In Pokémon Legends Arceus, you also fight alongside Cresselia against a mythical, but the mythical isn't Darkrai, but Arceus, and since you're a Pokémon, Arceus can attack you, better bring lots of reviver seeds !
I lost my save data from a laptop backup before I could beat this boss, RIP
What happens if you press ".................."
i think your cheating max max hp
i just took noticed that he uses cheat
You know what there's the thing can I ask why you are using cheats in this game
Because that makes it easier to get footage. UA-cam channels are a job.
Funfact: darkrai is acctually not a bad guy
Darkrai is, though. In Mystery Dungeon lore
Why darkrai was not a bad guy?
@@visheshgupta1736 have u wacthed rise of darkrai?
@@monsterteamtr6488 ok now I remember
darkrai is, like human, a species/collective.
That means that darkrai are not inheritly good or evil, just some of them are. The one in Rise fo Darkrai is. This one from Mystery Dungeon isn't.
Darkrai: AND HOW WILL YOU DEFEAT ME
Me: gun
Darkrai: gun?
Me: gun (proceeds to shoot darkrai)
What do i do after beating him...
Get the 7 treasures
You can evolve your starter and add creselia to your team
add cressilia and manaphy to ur team
Could've Darkrai turned into another pokemon like the player? It be interesting to say the least
Was it just me, or was that incredibly easy without me looking at the level you’re on
i never played mystery dungeon.
