My Minolta Maxxum 7000 was my main camera when I was in college and grad school. My dad used an SRT101 when I was a kid so I always liked Minolta. I still have those, plus an X570 and a few others -- The X570 is one of my favorites because I like the manual control.
Get your X570 CLA’d and it’ll be flawless! Love me some Minoltas!! Yuuge Minolta fan. I’d consider getting Minolta glass for that x570 too, Minolta MD lenses are phenomenal.
@@steelejohnsonphoto Cameras do not take sharp images, lenses do. You Maxxum has a zoom lens which will be much less sharp then prime lens (One that does not zoom)
I’m sorry, but this sounds like you don’t have any experience manually focusing cameras. The X-570 was my first camera and I NEVER had a problem focusing it. Maybe you need glasses or there’s something wrong with the focusing screen, but the x-570 is literally one of the easiest cameras to focus. Hasselblad used Minolta’s Acute Matte screens because they were the best for nearly a decade, so if you can’t focus a x-570, it’s not the camera’s fault. Also, judging a camera model based on a broken example that has a non-working exposure counter is pretty dumb. Any broken camera will be difficult to use. Reviews need to be based on working examples, not thrift shop bargains.
As I said in comment in most recent video, I had a 35 mm film, Minolta XGA, and it was Manual Override, and had full control over what I wanted to do for each shot. The camera served me well for 14 years before it gave out on me. I do not really care for Digital Photography, as I did not have full control of quality.
Hey I got my sister a Maxxum 3000i , and I was wondering how can I print the pictures that we have taken ? Do we need a SIM card or can I plug it into my computer ?
You need to develop the film, to do that you can take it to a specialized film lab or you can do it your self! Once you have done that you can scan the film and if you want them in a physical perspective you can send them to print!
Thanks for helping out, Beca! Film is different from digital, and like Beca said this camera has film that you will need to get developed to see the images!
Thank you both . I’ll eventually use the camera when I have time to develop the photos . But what is a good camera to use that I can have great quality and I can hook it up to my laptop
Sounds strange the maxxum 3000i has no manual setting. I have been shooting with a minolta x700 since the 80s it's very good camera. For my more advanced film camera is the alpha 9 also a very nice camera. Thanks for sharing. Just looked up the 3000i you're right just a point and shoot with use of different lenses. I quess there must have been a market for that. Or price range maybe.
That's wild! My lens allows me to manually focus, but all of the settings are automatic, like a point and shoot camera. I've never heard of the Alph 9! I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the comment!
Which camera did you like better? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Neat video Steele. I just got a 7000, yet to use it. It looks like a good little rig.
Cheers for sharing mate!!
Thanks for watching! Let me know your thoughts on the 7000! I've been looking into that camera now that my 3000i doesn't operate properly.

Is it worth the cost? I'm considering just swapping over to a new SLR body instead!
I've used the X-570 since it came out in the 80s. I like the controls. I still have 4 of them.
It's a great camera!
Personally I liked the X-570. I just got into the film game and I got myself a Minolta Maxxum 3000i and I’m excited to see how my pictures turn out!
The X-570 definitely takes sharper images, but the ease of use with the Maxxum 3000i is so nice! Enjoy using that camera!

@@goldenhourkodak what lens would you recommend for the maxxum? i have a 400si
Hope you enjoyed Nashville! (From a Nash native)
Loving it here! Nashville has a special place in my heart!
what lens was used for the minolta 3000i?
So what did you do with the other half of the roll on the 3000i?
I honestly don't remember at this point :(
Find a Leica or Contax for under $100, or under $1000 for that matter. As far as the 3000I rewinding mid-roll, try putting a new battery in it.
Would you know where I could get one fixed at?
Sadly I'm not sure!

The 3000i is considered a point and shoot. It's program mode only.
