This was my first major timepiece purchase and I debated at the Omega boutique if I should spend extra for this vs a regular Seamaster. Based on having the means to purchase either, it went down to if I would regret not buying the Bond version even though I would like the regular version and I believed at that time I would, so I went with the Bond edition and got both bands for it. I absolutely love the purchase with zero regrets.
I think your analysis was spot on. Between the two, if your budget allows, go with the bond every time.
Same. It is my first Omega and first luxury watch. No regret. They even invited me to No Time To Die premier show.
Finally someone said it. The cream lume isn't necessarily faux patina. It's a color just like any other and it goes well with black and dark dials for a less stark contrast. Thank you, Bruce!
Still in love with the white dial it’s beautiful
This is such a beautiful watch. Omega really nailed it with the current rendition of the Seamaster 300M. As a Bond fan this puts me in a dilemma because I owe it to the movies in my childhood to even consider pursuing watches so I definitely appreciate the "No Time To Die" connection. I also liked Daniel Craig as my favorite Bond and so it makes it all come together. Does it justify the quantum leap in pricing though... mmm I'm not so sure but it'll remain as my grail watch like all things that seem outside our reach. One of these days when other goals in my life are met maybe, but as of this moment I don't think so. Another $1000 would have been perfect but it's just too outrageous to actually pull the trigger for me. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great review ...
Bought it !!!!This was my first Omega - and I spent an endless amount of time debating over the price/value and feel of the various Omega models in the store - and then came along this watch - which felt so so so much lighter - that it was an instant decision in favour of this watch...
There was a bit of an inner debate in the head - if Bond is of double the value 🙂- I also at one point told the sales rep that Bond can live without my additional money 😀 but after experiencing the weight of this model (or the lack of it compared to others!) it was a no brainer... and just went in for it..
Enjoying every moment.
I have been debating buying this watch for almost two years now and honestly, to me this is an everyday watch and an everyday watch to me needs to have a date window. That, and the $4k premium, have been my two biggest gripes for not getting the watch. I truly don't feel that it's worth that much more over the regular 300m professional when your getting less, in my opinion. If it was $1k more or even $2k over then I would've definitely pulled the trigger but $4k? Nah. But I have to admit I'm still on the fence about it, it would would make a great matching pair to my dark side of the moon "vintage" speedmaster.
The watch is stunning an well worth it , I absolutely love mine and so glad I bought it over the standard Seamaster and I prefer it for not having a date
This is my FIRST Omega and I fell in love at first sight. The seamaster tokyo edition is a close 2nd choice.
Great comparison between two beautiful watches Bruce.👏🏻
I’ve seen the “ No time to die “ Omega & even tried it on. Great watch & as you rightly say, it’s very comfortable and light on the wrist. I like the watch but I do think it’s overpriced. It has no complications other than the time either. A date would have been great but then people say that the date ruins the dial blah blah... I personally NEED a date on my watches. Once again great vid and shots!
Warmest regards.
Hisham.
Wonderful video as always, many thanks. I also have a white dial Seamaster, love it, and was wondering about exactly the comparative points you made in this video. Yeah I mean the bracelet on the stainless steel is a bit sharp and maybe its weak point. A tapered mesh sounds tempting, but I also wasn't gonna pay anywhere near that much premium for the Bond factor, but would have gladly paid a smaller premium for the titanium and such. It's a beauty for sure. As for the white dial, yeah, I think it's an incredible value though I'm expecting the price to go up very soon. I hear they've raised wholesale prices to ADs and are tightening up on discounts. Still got mine at a discount but had to find the right dealer who was also an enthusiast, and had to walk away from a couple of other dealers who wanted sticker in the process. But imho, any Seamaster is one of the GOATs and its value when compared to the Sub is a big part of that...and esp considering the Sub shortages / GM inflation my bet is the standard Seamaster will hit $6k retail within the next year or so. I'll be sad to see it but they've got room to go up.
Bruce the NTTD version has AR coating on just the inside to give it a vintage plexiglass look. The standard version has AR on both sides. Personally I’m a AR on the inside only guy. I don’t like the marks the AR coating picks up on the outside of crystals and I like reflection that domed and boxed crystals make.
Interesting! They may as well do away with the one side only application. Doesn't seem to do anything
My Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris has a plexiglass crystal without any anti-réflective coating and it is fine. My IWC ceramic Doppelchronograph has a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and it is fine too. Both are fragile though and will scratch if not careful. Whilst light scratches on the plexiglass can easily be polished out, nothing can be done for the coated crystal other than a costly replacement… For a diving watch I wonder if the anti-reflective coating on the outside is compatible with water… I have been wearing spectacles for years and I know that some coatings are not compatible with water…
The broad arrow on the dial denoting crown property for a not so secret agent look.
This, I could not agree more… a secret agent would definitely have no broad arrow marked equipment which would only too easily betray his connection…
Definitely much nicer! Would have got it if it was a lower price.
Couldn’t justify the price so went for the Chrome dialled version….. though I did get get an extra Omega nato 😂
Such a tempting piece.
nice!, i bought the titanium strap version a couple of months back, love the colour scheme, only criticism i have is that i wish that the watch back was glass to see the movement and the container it comes in is just a leather wrap like a tool roll, wish it was a nice wooden display box like other models.
Nice watch, very nice, but my personal fav in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Seamaster with the blue bezel, blue hands, white dial combo. Awesome looking watch..
Great job, Bruce. I love Bond but the white is so much better. I own it and it’s awesome. Keep up the good work.
I love this edition of the Seamaster. I love the look, the connection to JB, and everything else about it. With that said, in my opinion, asking 3 to 4K above retail is a big ask. If it was closer to the normal price, I would've picked it up quick, fast and in a hurry, but couldn't justify the additional price, especially since I already have the same white and black version you do. I chose to purchase the blue dial 43.5 PO instead. The PO is more expensive than the standard Seamaster, but it is still 3K less than the Bond version.
I thought the exact same way until I tried it on. There is something about it that is so much different, and, to me at least, worth the premium. But you really can't go wrong with the options, and saving that much money is an amazing bonus!
I don't think people are getting the point in general, titanium is a much more expensive material (in terms of working with it) than steel, so the premium is based mainly on that element (making a mesh out of titanium must be a nightmare) and not on the Bond theme
Why do you whisky they made it from steel ? Titanium is very light which I think is great as well as it has a darker colour than steel…
@@patrickjean-philippe7679 A big negative to grade 2 titanium is that it's much softer and easier to scratch than steel. If you wear this thing on a regular basis it's going to get marred up regardless of how careful you are with it. That mesh bracelet is going to look like crap all scuffed up.
Love it Bruce!!
Watch making the devil is in the detail!! Glad they didn’t just change the colour and add 007 and a gun on the front!!
They made serious improvements and changes!! Also like that Daniel Craig was involved in the design process!! Cheers as ever mate!!!
Maybe next time you can compare the seamaster 300 bronze gold vs 007 titanium no time to die seamaster, quite similar price , similar dial ,similar color , but complete different material and weight !
I enjoy your reviews
the anti reflection is only on the inside of the glass. At steel models it´s on both sides
Anti reflective coatings can scratch, so you might actually find that the Bond version is more scratch resistant.
It was a hard decision for me when my wife and I went to purchase one. I went for the chrome version, but ohh that white dial was beautiful. Then I tried on the black.... wow. I couldn't make up my mind, they were all amazing. My wife was the one that liked the blue dial the most, so the blue dial it was. And I absolutely love it! I Looked at the No Time To Die one and like Bruce asked, would you love it if it didn't have anything to do with 007? I would say YES! I Loved this watch more than the others, but I just couldn't justify the price increase.
It's funny, we talk about the undervalue of the 300M but say the 007 version is too expensive. Because we have one version available for a (relatively) less price, the SS is the better value.
I bought one as it’s one of the rare watches I can wear on my left wrist after my injuries
Having bought a SMP this year I went with the white dial. I love the look of this version but grade 2 Ti and that highly reflective crystal was a no for me. That $9K price tag was a big no no. If this was $1.5k over the regular version it would have been a contender.
I tried this on the bracelet at the AD (and the white dial on bracelet and strap). Maybe I'd get used to it, but I didn't particularly care for the bracelet. I saw somebody else mention they got NATO strap version because they didn't like the bracelet, and now I get it. All of them are well built watches though. I just wish I didn't dislike the He escape valve aesthetics.
Love titanium. Love the tool watch look. Wish it was mine.
I love my bond edition. As I don't always wear an automatic, having to reset the date, in addition to the time is just one extra thing, and in my opinion breaks the clean look. If you have the means, no regrets. Color combination makes it really stand out from the crowd.
Vintage look slim divers in milanese straps always pleased me. Beautiful watch! As to whether or not it is worth the price it depends on so many factors, really a subjective topic. Personally, I think you get a similar look for less money like a Breitling Superocean Heritage, Certina DS PH200M. These have vinatge look and also mesh straps. Or even better, a Baltic Aquascaphe 39mm in a Staib aftermaket strap!!!!
Understated appearance and a no-date dial gives it a more desirable piece in my opinion. The price prevents me from pulling the trigger. JMHO...
I love this watch I just think it’s a little over priced compared to steel sm pro..I just purchased new heritage seamaster 300…no date..lumed bezel..jump hour similar color scheme and no wart! love it much more than the older version!
I'm with you!!! I cant get the heritage out off my mind. If my AD had one I would be grabbing one up immediately.
You know it is interesting to me that it gets skipped over on UA-cam. The SMP has reviews galore. But the seamaster 300 is almost like a great kept secret.
Daniel Craig consulted on its design, I can see why he chose mesh and Titanium along with the more under the radar appearance.
Wish there was a date and the price was reasonable, but this watch is just amazing. Dont see brown used often.
Very true, he thought a light watch would be a choice that the character who has a military history would appreciate
Awesome Video!
Great Review. Wanted to get the Black dial one first, than white, blue, grey blue. Windet up getting an aqua terra, lovely watch. Now i know the reason. Today the
007 on a Nato strap. Bombshell😊.
Probably would have gott3n the white dial one, if the bezel would have the lume like the 007. If you can, get both😁
My wife recently found me a 40th 007. I've never worn anything other than a Timex Ironman. Depending on the weather, the band, or "bracelet" always seemed too loose or too tight. Switched over to the mesh. Adjustable. I suppose also more contemporary. $6k was too much, but then, we don't splurge very often.
I bought this on the NATO strap because I’m not a fan of that mesh bracelet, but I do love fabric straps. Got a 10.4% discount and the price increased days later, so 15% discount on todays price.
Great 👍🏻 video Bruce, brilliant watch but it’s way to expensive for me 😎
I just loved it when watches used aluminum and matte finishes which is why this one appeals to me. Simplicity is best…. But not for that price
Great watch. Want one)
It's a great watch 👍 still unsure about the fauxtina though.
Prefer your white Buddy. It pops more, wave pattern dial, better bracelet without that clasp 'bulge', ceramic bezel and display back. I personally think the Titanium is a little cheesy. Unless your actually 007. Great review once again.
Personally I think it is a stunning watch on your wrist. You should get one. I wonder if the glare on the crystal is a design intent to give it more of a vintage feel. Great video as always!
So Bruce. Take the PO grade 5 Ti vs this bond watch. Which is a better?
Love this watch almost ready to pull the plug
Hi
Can you please tell me if the lumen works for more then 2 ours.
My lumen just goes very fade or completely dead in 2 hours.
Thanks
Awesome watch! Not sure about the clasp ..
If you want the bond connection for almost half the price, go with the blue seamaster 300m. It’s a classic and the one I chose ultimately for my everyday watch.
@@glennpowell3444 that one is good, however I was talking about the 2018 smp. Classic blue and wave dial, all paying homage to the original professional.
@@matthewoak2894 If you were to give me either I would take the quartz anyday.Thats just me though.A tough watch needs a tough movement.I dont mind changing a battery now and again. But I do think that Omega make fantastic watches .Dont get the Rolex hype at all.Thanks.
I think its one of the best looking seamasters to date, id buy it if I were given a discount plus no taxes...
I tried on the NTTD Bond watch at my AD and liked it. The value proposition is not good - $4k more than steel and you lose the ceramic dial, ceramic bezel and display caseback. My pal was going to buy a steel and I talked him into buying a NTTD instead. Saw him recently and we swapped watches during lunch. His NTTD watch wears dull on the wrist, the dial is dark and he told me the lume is poor. He liked my Tudor BB58 a lot more than his NTTD (and I do also). He misses not having a date and said the bracelet is too chunky around the clasp.
I love this watch! The only problem for me is the price, here in Europe this watch is almost 10.500 USD! That's just too much imo. If I can get it cheaper on the second hand market in future, I might pick one up. But for now it's just too expensive.
@@jamesblonde2271 I’ve never found one on Chrono under €8000, that’s about US$9300
@@Grinko18 They're there now for $8000 all day I've just checked, enjoy!
Actually, the cheapest in Europe is $8500 to be fair, its in the Netherlands, I bet you could negotiate a few hundred bucks down too....
This is the best model in the Omega group.
Looks more solid than the white dial, classic more the blue, and the bracelet gets more smart than other previous models.
Solid as it should, classic, and smart but noble for all the characters of James Bond.
How does a white dial Seamaster like you have with the titanium bracelet sound? It’s what I wear nearly everyday and it’s amazing to mix the two. Only drawback, bracelet is damn spendy but for one or my few pieces, it’s a winner.
It would need to be in steel so there is a tone match between the case and the bracelet. But I think Omega could sell them
The watch is sold out on the omega website and Joan shop. And it’s going for higher prices on eBay so I’d say it’s a decent investment
My problem is I do not actually like the normal version... Just something about the bond looks so good. Problem is the deal hound in me it's hard to almost pay three times the price.
I didn't like the Bond watch at first, but I'm always looking to compliment my fashion style. So in that regard it would be a great addition; however, I think it's way too expensive.
The NTTD versus the SM300 8912 in black would be interesting.
Far better in every way than its competitors at the market.
Bruce, I have the white dial seamaster and I was wondering what are your thoughts or is it possible to buy the James Bond seamaster and swap the backs on them? Or could you order a replacement case back and have the display case back on the James Bond?
Not sure if that would be advisable, or possible, just for the fact that they are very different metals. Good question, though
Personally love it, but if I was going to get a 300 it would be the blue bezel, white dial Tokyo version. I think that’s the best out there
Maybe, I thought about this one but have no connection to tokyo so decided to pass on it. Its a grrat contrast thou, the blue and white..
Nice video ! I bought this watch as I was seduced at first sight as I saw it on Omega newsletter. I had to have it. It is unique in so many ways. I think that it is an incredible release from Omega and I easily understand it’s popularity. The bracelet clasp area is definitely too thick, the doomed crystal anti-reflection coating was only applied internally hence the reflections.
If Omega did this without the faux aged lume, removed the MOD arrows, removed any reference to James Bond, and gave it sword hands, it would be pretty difficult to fault - personally I would like a date window.
That’s like a completely different watch lol. You want what we all want. A re release of the 2254.
You obviously describe a very different watch hence this one is definitely not for you then…
Seems to have a good power output judging by what it's done to your hair .
I think it is worth it, if you are a James Bond fan specifically Daniel Craig's tenure, it has a significant meaning because of the NTTD's ending and holy shit is it lightweight.
If you really want the Bon edition go for it, personally don't think it's worth the price difference, I have the blue steel on steel with blue bezel and love ut, Might buy the the bind mesh band, If I had the black 399m, definitely would get the mesh bracelet, id=f it would fit or some high quality mesh if not, would give similar vibe. I also wouldn't sell or trade mine and take the hit, would use it towards and Aqua Terra world time, something real different. The steel or titanium wouldn't make much of a difference and loss of date,
I must admit it's a hot wath. Great review
I absolutely love this watch and the aesthetic. Hate the price though, no thanks. Also don't care for the bracelet... I'm going to wait and hope that these absolutely tank on the secondary market. I think a lot of people jumped in initially thinking this was going to be a hot limited edition, not understanding that it's standard production.
Good chance your on the money with that one. I really like it however would prefer to have it not associated with a fictional character and the premium is a little too much for me.
Would buy a regular Seamaster, but I hate the bracelet on them.
How does the lume on the omegas and Rolex’s compare to seikos lume?
In my experience nothing beats a Tuna or Marinemaster 300 for lume. There are some Seikos that have better lume than others. Some Seikos have a thin disappointing application. One the whole I would rank Seiko ahead of both Rolex and Omega. Chromalight vs BGW9 is a toss up. Hard to tell a difference, so I rank Rolex and Omega as equals in that part
Bruce, I am in Utah too. Logan area. New to luxury watch collecting. But would love to discuss this watch and a few others with you. How can we connect?
Hi Bruce, have you sold that awful Tudor Royale with cheese yet? Hahaha, cheers, love the channel
As an owner of the blue version, I really like this version, but not for the price. When it gets under 7K used, I make jump in and grab one. Nice bideo, Bruce.
What a beautiful watch. I would love a standard non-Bond release of a no-date Seamaster with white lume.
Great Comparison!! I am a JB007 fan. So I would pay the Premium!! Thinner, Lighter (titanium) isnt that worth more? "So many watches; So little (Money)(Time)" I am looking for a swiss watch to round out my collection. I think its going to be an Omega. I'm leaning towards one of the Heritage line. NO Helium Escape Valve. :-)
It's nice but the price is a bit hefty for me.
Here for the Pelagos dance
The red, white and blue 007 Omega is the best looking.
Well I’m buying a 1957 300 but if that titanium did NOT have the 007 BS attached I’d order one tomorrow!
I hope Omega releases another stainless steel Seamaster with a lumed bezel in 2022.
Love it.
I still prefer the white dial.
I’ve heard turning the bezel is kinda ruff, how did u find it Bruce? Or was it the same as ur great white?
Mine turns very smoothly. I don't have the standard one but I had the V2 Seamaster Pro which was incredibly difficult to turn compared to the Bond version.
@@MTCBKK that’s good, “ I was specifically referring to the titanium one” that’s supposed to be completely different, in a bad way”
I show it in the video. Very good action. Slightly nicer in feel than the steel version
@@SGM805 yes, like I said, I'm talking about my Bond titanium Seamaster. It turns perfectly smooth. I just can't compare it to the Standard current SMP's because I don't have one. But my older black SMP (2010-ish former version / V2) was awful, it was incredibly difficult to rotate the bezel.
Great review! I'd take your watch over the 007 everyday a twice on Sundays. And it's not even a photo. To many things to like from the dial to the band. Only one thing I like better on the 007 is it's thickness and that's it.
I sold mine cuz it was too much money for that watch. I ended up getting the white variant which it speaks more to me in terms of value for money. And got myself a Hamilton Khaki field Far Cry 6 edition which is also Titanium and to be honest looks very similar to that 007 Seamaster. Is it the same movement? No! But as my understanding it is the same grade titanium for only 1k. Instead of 8-9k
The Hamilton you bought is a fantastic value proposition ! Well done 👍🏽
Definitely no time to die version bro!
Love the watch itself, but I don't think I'd pay that price for it.
Premium is for titanium. Not for 007 affiliation. Omega have a seamaster 300 titanium around $9k as well. I dont like shiny watches so this is the best seamaster 300m. They used to make planet ocean with matte ceramic bezel which was great. I dont know why it is all shiny now?
Yes, I prefer discretion hence the mat anodised finish, dial with less candy, brushed titanium, mesh bracelet and the lightweight make for the best package for me.
I disagree, I think it’s fauxtina, and it’s attempting to look “vintage” - thus the ‘broad arrow’. I appreciate you opinion and the contact as always though, no reason why we can’t have differing thoughts, God bless!
Put it on a leather strap, replace the 007 signed back with sapphire, and, boom. 💥
On the contrary, I think Omega wouldn’t be the well known brand as it is today without its association to JB films.
Beautiful watch but not worth the premium price , I feel.
It would be great to see this mesh strap in SS on the existing SS seamasters
Bruce that hair is getting taller all the time.....
For me it's the ultimate seamaster, love it - just don't love the price - tho do think it's fair (could afford it now, but more than I'm prepared to spend on a timepiece) Gorgeous watch tho, Cheers Bruce 👍🏻👍🏻
I've got white dial SM300 and very very like it then this version isn't interesting one. Previous 007 SM limited edition is better as it's got date and beautiful design but it's too hard to find it now :(
if you compare this with white dial maybe it looks better. But if you compare it with the blue or black seamaster , or even the older 41 mm without wave, this 007 watch stands no chance, except for the lume on the bezel.
saw one in person, then got a Rolex airking instead 🤣
Bruce would you say there is enough contrast on the bond watch against the dial for easy legibility? Somehow on the pictures it seems the hands blend in too much ……🤔
Watch people a weird to pay premiums for Batmans, Hulks, James Bonds, Ultra Mans and Snoopy's. LOL. We're all just big kids with too much cash.
Great job, as always, Bruce. Obviously, to me, it was worth the premium, but it is a very large premium over the standard 300M, so it really is kind of in a totally different class and maybe not a real option against the base 300M, which is such an amazing value. As I have never been a huge fan of the 300M (and even less a fan of the 007 branded versions) it was a surprise to me that I loved this so much when I tried it on. One thing that won me over was just how different it was. I love how it fits, I love the titanium tone combined with the chocolate dial and tan lume. I am not a fan of fauxtina, and this is exactly how you describe it - a color choice, not an attempt to appear vintage. The mesh bracelet is so nice, and if the thickness of the clasp isn't an issue, it is extremely comfortable. Despite the link to the movie (which I loved), I really like this watch a lot - it's one of my favorites of my collection, to be honest. Thanks for the review and hope you enjoyed your time with it!
Very much so. Thank you again Greg for being so generous with your time and watches.
