    Hi Floyd 🙂I am trying to use Zyn-Fusion on an Rpi5 desktop (64 bit Bookworm) and Reaper, to see how well it fares, in wait for the Pi5 upgrade kit of that marvelous black box we both know and love. I do actually have a Zyn-Fusion purchased download access, but it appears that an aarch64 version is not provided so far by Fundamental/Mc Curry. Do you think that this old building procedure would also work for Rpi5/aarch64? Thanks, ad also see you around elsewhere!

    Now I want to know everything about the raspberry pi, what can I do, what can I build, as long as I don't have to do some assembly wizardry, I'm into it. What material would you reccomend me?

    Hi Mr Steinberg, it is wonderful to watch your video. I have a question: I do have raspberry pi 3 B+ with 32 bit linux. So your script fails at the cmake command after the tar. So what do I do? Dear Floyd,
    I've installed Manjaro Linux and then, I've installed ZynAddSubFx, QJackCTL. But for the moment I don't need Reaper for playing my MIDI controller with the Synth. I don't know why my sound card don't appear in QJackCTL in the connection panel, only appear the MIDI KeyBoard and the Synthetizer.
    The last version of QJackCTL has many updates and a graphical interface for connect the MIDI Keyboard with ZynAddSubFX.
    Do you know a link or tutorial for setup Jack and start the server propertly? My PC is a Mini Beelink Ser5. All the best and regards.
    PD. When I've connected the MIDI controller to LMMS software and using Alsa, I don't need to use Jack and works fine, no latency problems and don't need to use Jack (As an example)

    • @mr_floydst
      @mr_floydst  4 місяці тому +1

      You don't really need to use jack, you also can load ZynAddSubFX into LMMS once it's compiled. There should be a LV2 plugin version installed somewhere.
      If you want to use the standalone app, qjackctl is relatively easy to set up, just press the configure button and select the correct sound card and midi interface. After that, you should be able to start jackd.

    Hello, I just thought I would add that I have tried to run QJackCTL, VPMK, and AMSYNTH on the Raspberry Pi4 (4Gb) and having all three apps running at the same time caused the system to hang every few seconds.... bummer!

    • @mr_floydst
      @mr_floydst  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! That doesn't sound right, the PI should have more than enough resources to run that flawlessly. Did you use the standard Raspbian? were any other services running in the background?

    • @noahbenzing2402
      @noahbenzing2402 3 роки тому

      Actually, after having given the system load a brief look to see how much space these three programs would require to run smoothly as well as the operating system itself it was (I think) about 200Mb or so shy of having the right amount of RAM to run. You should try it yourself! :))) I do think though that a newer version (which is said to be coming out soon!) that had a 2.0GHz CPU and 8Gb of RAM would for sure be able to cache everything I mentioned and still have room to run another app or two! :)))

    • @mr_floydst
      @mr_floydst  3 роки тому

      @@noahbenzing2402 I did... two years ago I made a video doing exactly that, on a RasPi 3, standard Raspbian. The performance was questionable, but it was definitely better than what you're describing here. This puzzles me a bit as the PI4 has double the RAM and a greatly improved CPU.

    Hello, I am trying to follow the steps to install the synth on a RPi4 with Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye). I do not understand what to do with this: "change the line 'git submodule update --init' to 'git submodule update --init --recursive' in the build-linux script ". I tried to pass that step, I pasted "ruby build-linux.rb" and after a while it gave me an error. Please can you write again a step-by-step guide of what commands I need to paste on terminal or any changes I have to do to make it work? Thanks!

    • @mr_floydst
      @mr_floydst  Рік тому +1

      Hi, the lines I posted are all you need, and the line you're citing here means
      1) Open build-linux.rb in a text editor
      2) search for the line containing "git submodule update --init"
      3) add " --recursive" to that line after " --init" (but do not enter the quotes, they're just here to precisely tell you what to enter)
      4) save the file
      5) execute the file
      Hope that helps.
      Open source projects often change and you're expected to have just the right versions of compilers, libraries and operating systems in place, otherwise things might fail. I can't "support" all of my old videos, I hope that eventually, my knowledgable viewers might step in ;-)
