One Easter egg you missed was Xavier was talking to strange while they were under attack. He said, "someone may stumble and lose their way, but it doesn't mean their lost forever. " He said that to his younger self in day's of future past.
The best line from the movie was when Dr Strange told Christine that “I loved you in every universe”… that broke my heart and this is Dr Strange’s first step towards healing himself.
I think another easter egg is when Wanda is chasing Strange, America, and Christine; it is quite similar to the hedge maze scene in The Shining. She's even limping.
At the end of WandaVision, she hears the kids saying "mom help! Mom please" which is what they say when 616 Wanda shows up in multiverse of madness and the kids get scared. Prompting her to stop.
I took “the hex was easy, lying was hard” line as Wanda referring to the hex she was using on the orchard to make it look alive. That is why Strange say that the flowers smell real
Anyone else remember when Strange says he has “Photographic Memory”….. even though Wanda destroyed the DarkHold in every universe Strange literally has it photographed in his memory. So he can recreate it very simply. So all I can imagine is the next film involving Strange will be others going after him to try and get that power since he may be the only one to actually have it memorized 🤷🏼♂️
The dark hold was written by an all powerful being the book is more like a tome it holds the power the words don’t mean anything without the power at least this is how it worked in the comics it’s the same as the other book and with the book and temple all being destroyed that “power” is lost
Great breakdown as always. The one thing I saw you didn't mention - in the rubble when Xavier is trying to free Wanda, there is TV and it is playing the first ep. of WandaVision
@@brianbaker1700 I suppose. I generally don't notice stuff like that the first time I'm watching something. I'm definitely more into the story and especially in that moment feeling the emotions than I am looking for Easter Eggs and the like.
I loved how Christine was so knowledgeable about the relics, she was able to use the jar (the Brazier of Bom’Galiath); which seems to be the one Strange just threw at Kaecilius because he didn’t know how to use that :)
Im so happy im not the only one who noticed this small reference to the first movie, just like America saying "what's in that tea", just like Strange said in the first film
Yes! Hole movie seems to be homage to horror classics like evil dead, it, carrie, the ring and...alien (when they running in the tunnels under the river shuting gates behind them)
A cool easter egg you missed had to do with Disney history When Wanda daywalks we see the kids watching a black and white show, that show is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Meaning in this universe Oswald was not replaced with Mickey Mouse.
Shout out to Sam Raimi for making this movie genuinely scary. The scene where black bolt implodes his own head was brutal, all in all I was liking the Sam raimi horror I hope he stays with marvel for more projects
@@youleq3968 the way Wanda chased after Strange, Chavez, and Rachel (I think. don’t really care about her character) seemed straight out of a classic horror movie. The way she came out of the reflection was also top tier.
This is just speculation of course but I think we can attribute Strange's determination to save America Chavez to Spiderman being a good influence on him. We know the other versions of him were on board with sacrificing her for the greater good. But post No Way Home Dr. Strange was willing to risk everything to save one life and trust that she could find a solution to this problem herself. I'd like to think it's because he recently witnessed another young hero do the same thing.
@@HuongTran-jg7tw from the way Strange and Wong talk about him with America I think they've forgotten who Spiderman really is, but not what he did or what he gave up.
After watching this film and seeing the things that Wanda was willing to do in order to get her kids back, I now understand why this film came out on Mother’s Day weekend. The lengths that some mothers will go for their kids is astonishing. Her heart was in the right place but the execution wasn’t.
What the fuck, killing other people is okey because she wants to live with imaginary children born out of another tyranical methods of enslaving people around her? World Has gone terribly mad
Also, when Xavier shows Strange that vision, the "waves" coming out of his head, along the camera angle and the position of his hand, is taken straight from the X-Men Animated Series
The third eye only has one connection to the Darkhold for Strange, him using the grimoire to stop Wanda awoke the third eye, its not a remnant of the Darkhold energy. It means Strange has finally truly awoken, and yes "knowing evil" is a part of a Sorcerer's journey. Reminds me of a few lines from the Kybalion.
@@fishraposo7192 As above, so below, as below, so above. Principle of correspondence. Yeah Excellent book with some interesting philosophy. Its freely available on google books and many other places. Printed I think some places its fairly cheap.
@@yikesyikes5974 I've seen a few other channels talking and pointing out both sides, some say it is "evil" energy and other's say its not. But yeah, in a lot of mystic manuscripts and paintings wise masters are depicted with that 3rd eye.
So strange how people can watch a movie and have a totally different experience. But such is life I suppose. I absolutely adored this movie, one of my favourite marvel movies for sure.
I loved ALL Marvel movies & Disney+, including Eternals & Hawkeye (LOVE Moon Knight right now). This movie felt like a filler instead of thriller. As it's own fun horror romp & action flick, it's sort of a satisfying mess, but to grow the ongoing narrative within the MCU (& for the WandaVision storyline) it's like HUH? Just feels like a badly written comic book movie. I LOVE Strange & Wanda but I wasn't even emotionally drawn in. Definitely needed more quiet moments, like 10-15 more minutes. There was no soul. & magic needs SOUL.
@@Jumpoable true but for me the biggest problem with this movie was their wasn’t as much multiverse because they only had 2 main universes they went to instead of a lot more also all the other multiverse stuff was only 30-40 seconds so it’s not that much multiverse
I think there were two fourth wall breaks - both with characters looking straight into the camera. The first was when 616 Wanda had possessed her 838 counterpart and she looked into the camera as if to say 'I'm in control now.' Secondly, in the final post credits scene, Bruce Campbell's Pizza Poppa looks straight at the audience when shouting 'It's over!'
That was the attitude Wanda conveyed but it wasn't an acknowledgment of the audience so not really a 4th wall break but close. Bruce's totally was 4th wall
In Infinity War Strange also said he wouldn't hesitate to let anyone die to keep reality safe. I like that they made that a constant in every universe.
This movie has been so polarizing so far and only been out for a day. I thoroughly believe that DS2 MOM will go down as one of the most ENTERTAINING MCU movies to date, the pace was fast and felt like a rollercoaster. I would personally LOVE to see a directors cut or the original version. Raimi said it was over 3 hours long and was also rewritten during covid. I also think MCU fanboys and leakers create too much Hype for MCU content and it leads to people getting their expectations too high and feeling let down after watching. I always temper my expectations and just go with the flow. Its all about entertainment value and I personally LOVED the film :)
I agree -- most of the hype that caused some people to complain never came from Marvel but rather from Internet "scoopers." It was a very good movie. Not my favorite MCU film but definitely in the top half. Also, people complain that all Marvel movies are the same, and yet, when they get something different, they complain.
Yeah I think they just previewed way too much in the previews tbh. Made it seem like a No Way Home type situation where there’s be massive crossovers involved in the story. That being said I agree this was easily the most entertaining MCU movie probably ever. Also the best cinematography over all
I am praying we get the directors cut. I would go back to the theaters and rewatch that. I loved the pacing of the film and Elizabeth Olsen did an amazing job as the Scarlet Witch. She is slowly turning into one of my favorite actresses in the MCU now
This movie was unapologetically Raimi and love it! And did anyone notice that one of the dimensions Strange and Chavez pass through looked futuristic but had Mysterio's drones flying by. At least it looked like of his drones.
Wanda’s destruction of Cthon’s tower was reminiscent of Sokovia, being risen and then falling. Meaning she couldn’t avoid her own ending. That the same actions she took and behaviors she had led to a similar outcome that this time, she could not escape thru her redemption.
@@archerlangfield8189 I'm thinking we're getting a kind of reverse House of M. Instead of "no more mutants", Wanda's going to create mutants in 616 (yeah, come at me) in another attempt to create her kids
Yesss! The Bruce Campbell cameo was expected for me cause of his history with Sam Raimi and the Spider-Man cameos, but as a lover of Evil Dead, I was even happier & surprised when his cameo involved his hand being possessed to beat himself up
exactly! and that thing with Black Bolt's mouth reminded me of Evil Dead too. If I'm not mistaken, the disappearing mouth happens briefly to Ash in one of the movies. Army of Darkness, I think?
I know Wandas arc may be upsetting to some of her fans and I genuinely respect that, but I would be lying if Wanda and her story didn't just turn into the most interesting character of the entire MCU for me because of the new direction This is so GOOD because it involves so many different elements like dark magic/ witchcraft, her family and heroism while being destined for evil. There is so much that plays active part in her characters story now and isn't just side material like with most other characters and the best thing about it? With Wanda they let go of the damn hero coding for the most part regarding her actions, meaning Wanda has a fuck ton more narrative freedom to DO interesting stuff which the audience won't expect. I love that. I love characters like Wanda because for once it's allowed to get interesting as hell for a character and their arc without the tight restrictions that come with a protagonist
thats the beauty>Strange could eventually be her redemption. This Strange knows the powerful lure of the Darkhold himself since he had to use it, and he's fully aware other versions of himself have fallen just as far as she did listening to it. Steven says early on he always knew she would set things right in the end about Westview, and she finally did so in this too destroying Wundergarr. I still think shes on a redemption arc but lets not forget she began as a villain in the comics and has backslid ocassionally there too
I admit, I didn't want Wanda to be a villain at all, but after seeing the movie. I made my peace with it, it fits her character so well. It's a situation like, iron man dying in Endgame to me. I didn't want that, but what happened needed to happen and it was great. And I absolutely loved Olsen's portrayal. The one thing I am pissed off about is, Wanda killing herself. I know it's not confirmed and there's a big chance that she will return. But on the off chance that she did actually die. I would be really pissed, not that she died but how she died. She deserved a better death if they were gonna kill her.
She's the only villain in the MCU that has both marks. I was terrified of her, and felt bad for her. Thanos might have been intimidating, but no marvel villain to date hit like Wanda
Loved this movie! That fight scene between the 2 Stranges(the one with the music notes) was beautiful, and very creative. It’s the first movie I’ve seen in theaters in years, and it was definitely worth it.
Was laughing to myself watching thst wondering if the stranges just thought it would be good banter to fight each other with musical notes and rolled with it
It was odd that Charles was dressed as Steve Jobs in Wanda's mind. But it was cool that we visually saw Charles using his telepathy like how in No Way Home we saw Spidey's tingle around his head or in Aquaman how he talks to fish.
I thought it was weird too but then u have to realize hes an old man, that was style back in his day. And remember when strange asked reed "did u guys chart in the 60s?" I would argue that he looks a little like a 60s singer
That was always how Xavier would appear in astral form during the 90's. He was wearing it the whole time he was Onslaught. James McEvoy wore it in Dark Phoenix. It's the character's second most iconic look. To be honest I'm a bit disappointed Ryan didn't pick up on it.
The apples also represented the temptation in the garden of Eden, and the turning water to wine was a clear reference to the wedding feast at Cana, again showing Starnge's messiah complex.
And how about the water into wine at a wedding reference, Jesus’ first show of his power as the son of God. Seems like another nod to Christian theology, Strange’s god complex, and Adam and Eve were told that to become like god they had to eat of the tree of good and evil. Or perhaps more true to the original language and culture, good and bad (ref. Tim Mackie - The Bible Project).
When Dr. Strange spoke about the death of his sibling and that he wasn't able to save her was very sad to hear and made it clear why he wanted to assure that Christine was not a part of his life so he wouldn't put her at risk of danger.
when wanda was justifying to stephen about killing chavez, it paralelled when tony and steve rogers were arguing about wanda in civil war. stephen voices the same reasoning as cap by arguing chavez is just a kid, while wanda takes on tony's thoughts when he dehumanized wanda and talked of her being a weapon of mass destruction.
Honestly, i'm waiting on Quantum Mania now. I feel like Antman's movie is really going to give us some eyes on the situation. Plus, I almost feel like Scott's life should have taken a turn for the extremely better, considering the time heist was his idea (it'll be interesting contrast for the bleak events ahead).
@Jason I don’t think the ten rings are tied to a multiverse. The post credit scene shows them sending a signal and the directors said it’s sending a signal to the aliens that made the ten rings for a future appearance but I doubt it’ll be a multiverse type movie
When Xavier is in Wanda’s head there is a tv playing WandaVision and he also refers to the trapped Wanda by her first name, almost as if they were friends. Maybe a nod to him knowing her because she is Magneto’s daughter in that universe?
It's not impossible, if there are mutants there then most definitely Magneto exists and so do his kids. Wanda is in that universe and she has powers, is her brother alive too?
I was surprised there was no mention of Quicksilver in the movie. I figured searching for her brother would be a big part of a movie involving the universe. I thought he might be the one to convince her to stop what she was doing
@@marveloussentry would’ve been a cool way to bring him back and have a main speedster back in our universe (or at least on screen and more experienced than ultron version)
With the X-men theme being used, it is surprisingly credited as “X-men ‘97 theme” rather than as the animated theme. Possible confirmation there that they will be using it in the upcoming series or at least the slightly redone version that was used here
I saw that as well! I would assume they want to tie things to their future projects rather than just drop an Easter egg to a 30 year old tv show. Always be closing...
In the scene where Black Bolt kills Illuminati Strange, Mr. Fantastic has some blue fabric draped over his arms, presumably Illumnati Strange’s cloak since he is not wearing it when killed. Later on, after 616 Strange’s cloak is damaged, it gets patched up with blue fabric. Perhaps they used a section of Illuminati Strange’s blue cloak to fix it.
Professor X repeated his quote to Strange, "Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn’t mean they’re lost forever" from Days of Future Past
When Charlize Theron appeared in the mid credit scene, I legit facepalmed thinking that it was Cipher from the Fast franchise and that they were finally joining the MCU lol
I like that you compared the dark hold to the ring of power, because that was exactly the vibe I was getting from it. It can take good people and turn them evil by simply being in their presence, and the more powerful a person is, the more destructive they can be with it
I loved Doctor Strange and Multiverse of Madness because it was dark and different from other movies in the MCU. Also, completely loved when Professor Xavier in his Yellow Hoverchair came out to the 90s X-men cartoon theme. I had to explain who Clea was after the movie to other people in the theater.
Did anyone else notice the rooftop at the beginning of the movie where Defender Doctor Strange was buried looked a lot like the same rooftop The Ancient One speaks to Bruce Banner in Endgame about the alternate branching timelines?
When Wanda was chasing Strange and America underground, the way she was staggering had a strong callback to Jack Torrence chasing Wendy and Danny at the end of “The Shining.”
This film is a directorial treat It's artistic, pushes creative boundaries, amazing vision and spot on execution Amazing how he got most out of benedict Cumberbatch and elizabeth olsen Also did a great job with music 💯
The Astral Planes visualization from Professor X was also a callback to how the Astral plane was portrayed (and also used by Professor X) in the FX series Legion
the blue patch on 616 strange's cloak is from the cloak of levitation of 838's strange. we see the blue cloak held by reed richards after black bolt kills strange and we see the patch on strange's cape after he gets it back.
I just got back from the cinema AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! It was way more graphic than I expected and the jumpscares were exquisite. I also loved Wanda in this movie. I suppose the animation goes without saying but it was incredible
Sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but... Didn't they make a huge point in WandaVision about how Wanda is a "Nexus Being?" Maybe I totally misinterpreted that, but I took it to mean that there was only ONE of her in the multiverse, not a separate version in each reality. This movie made that the case for America Chavez, but I was surprised there were other Wandas out there...
i feel like the scarlet witch is the one that’s a nexus being versus wanda herself, when we saw the other wandas they seemed to live happier lives with their kids, never having grown as powerful as our wanda
Each universe has their own Nexus being. So yeah, there are multiple Wanda’s in the multiverse, but only one of them is a nexus being for their universe. The one we saw her dreamwalk into has a different nexus being for that universe. In the comics, other nexus beings include Kang, Odin, and even Vision is one.
Hi Ryan. Great video. Just want to add a couple of easter eggs that you missed: 1. When Charles was in the astral dimension trying to free the Earth-838 Wanda from the Earth-616 Wanda, there was a black and white TV playing the first episode of WandaVision. 2. Charles had faith in the Earth-616 Strange even tho Mordo did not and Charles expressed it by saying, “Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn’t mean they will be lost forever.” which was previously said in the Days of the Future Past. And, for the sake of accuracy, the other Sanctums are in Hongkong and London, not China and London :-)
I loved that Black Bolt's one line in the movie was whispering "I'm sorry." It wasn't Anson Mounts fault that the inhumans was a terrible show. They should have cast Chris pine as Reed Richards. Then, they could have had Captain Pike, Kirk and Picard in one room.
Xavier told mordo that he trusts our strange when they both were arguing that should they bring him to the book of vishanti or not. Xavier probably read strange's mind while he was showing him the titan memory and he got to know that he was not bad
Another other casting would be a huge disappointment. Marvel has one chance to get FF right after the sad history of bad movies. Recasting Reed and not using Krasinski would be the first nail in the coffin. They need to keep the guy
I think he really fits the role. I was not disappointed in his acting at all portraying Reed Richards. Funny note....when I first heard Baxter in the movie......it got me thinking so hard.....hmmm where do I know Baxter from? It sounds so familiar. And then BOOM, seeing Reed appear reminded me of the Baxter Building in F4 with Chris Evans as The Human Torch. Lmao
When Xavier goes into Wanda's mind while she's dream walking, there is a TV in the rubble. It was playing a black and white show, and I think it was the first episode of WandaVision playing.
It was. I saw that. Which kind of defeats that everybody says he was trying to save 838 Wanda. But Wandavision is from multiverse 616...so that was our Wanda's mind.
Just a random theory, since we all know that Elizabeth Olsen had her contract extended, I bet she'll have her own solo movie in the future. Spoiler for those who haven't seen the movie yet, but at the end, when Wanda tried commiting suicide, we see a sudden burst of Chaos Magic. What if, she's still alive, and was actually saved by Chton himself? Realizing how powerful Wanda has become after embracing her Scarler Witch entity, he now wants to wreak havoc on Earth or even the Multiverse by possessing Wanda. And there was this scene in Mount Wundagore where one of the evil-looking demons suddenly conjured Chaos Magic, but was killed by Wong. What if it's actually Chton after feeling that Wanda went to Mount Wundagore?
Has that story about the contract actually been confirmed? All I have seen is rumors, and I feel like the end of this movie is the end of her character. I wonder.
I really wanted to see her more, but I feel like the development of her on wandavision were lost. I want a hero movie of her, her other side, because in the comics there's so many good stories of her, not only the House of M. If they use the argument that this wanda were on the influence of the darkhold could be a redemption arc.
I want John Krasinski to keep playing Reed Richards. Plus, when Dr. Strange talks about him being from the 60s means John is a modern day version of him in this universe. I think he will still play him. I also think they could do what they did in the Future Fight mobile game where they get lost in other dimensions. Then they meet/regroup and accidentally go to the future.
@@stevenyoung9473 Based on what Jon Watts was Pitching, He wanted the F4 to be set in the 60s and then get trapped in the Negative Zone battling Annihilus or somewhere else but since he left direction the movie could go either ways
@@gavinbrewer7392 Indeed The best outcome would be getting John to star in the F4 movie and also letting him direct it so he can come onboard without amy hesitation
Here's one that blew my mind (even if it wasn't on purpose): During the boys' ice cream song, there is a 30's-era Mickey Mouse cartoon playing on the TV over their shoulder. Only...it wasn't Mickey and Minnie, but variations on their character designs. The character substitute for Minnie was a cat, and the substitute for Mickey was your mom. Sorry I couldn't resist. Actually, he's a rabbit. This is reminiscent of Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit; Walt Disney's very first fleshed-out character creation. But he was rejected by the studio he worked for. Embittered, he re-worked the character and thus, Mickey Mouse was born. But Oswald still remained dear to Walt Disney, even if the character never endured. This is significant, because Oswald signifies Mickey as he was meant to be...or rather Wanda as SHE was meant to be. And it stands in contrast in this scene with who she has compromised herself to become.
Although, something someone didny mention: When ultron says: "ultron commands you to stop" or sum, snd repeats it. She remembered her ultron, and smashed the head ragefully
Seeing Jim from The Office as Reed Richards and hearing the orchestra version of the X-Men cartoon theme playing when Charles Xavier appears was the greatest moment I've ever experienced watching a Marvel movie, a better moment than Endgame. Bite me!
Just realizing that when Strange gave up the time stone, the sequence he was enabling specifically took him out of the fight until someone else figured out time travel and defeated Thanos. IE, he was not insisting on holding the knife there - literally choosing non-existence and depending on others to save him.
The Darkhold was presented in the underrated and sadly ignored Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Damn, what a great show. Even if not canon, it's still worth a shot for every MCU fan, 'cause every season was lined up with the movies events.
Yes, featuring Ghost Rider. AOS is so underrated that they have this FITZSIMMONS love team. Their love story is greater than every romantic movies. HAHA
When Wanda said ‘I opened the Darkhold, now I have to be the one to close it’ and sacrificed herself to fix what she caused after a realization without any fist-fighting reminded me of ‘Spider-man 2’ when Doctor Octopus sacrificed himself saying something similar.
Apologies if someone has already mentioned this in the comments but I'm fairly certain 838 Christine repaired 616 Strange's cloak with 838 Strange's; Reed Richards is holding the blue cloak of levitation during the flashback projected by Professor X of 838 Strange's death.
I took the apple orchard as a reference to Snow White, which is also playing in the Westview scene in the film. She is the witch, attempting to corrupt Strange with a poisoned apple - bring America to her and reality will be safe.
Excellent breakdown for an epic movie! What a viewing experience. Phase Four has been carrying on Marvel’s theme of hitting every project (almost) out of the park in the MCU.
I thought the half blood splatters on Wanda represented that there's two Wanda's in that body. The bloody half is our Universe's Wanda who's going on this tear killing everyone and tainted by the Darkhold and the clean half is that universe's Wanda who is still good and is untainted by the Darkhold
Yeah but the Zombie version was OP vs the Illumanati, and boss heroes but got tossed around by evil Wanda not even raginig to protect her kids, that was a bit off imho, but pretty good movie. I want Kang now....
Precisely my thought. And the good Wanda that the Scarlet Witch possessed was already super lethal and strong power-wise (it was her power that rampaged the Illuminati 😬). Imagine if she wishes to do right, make up for the brutality, and take over as hero Wanda again.
I believe a spotted The Watcher during the 2nd end scene... when the screen went black and lightning strikes.. there was the outline of the Watcher standing ominously in the top right corner!
While things didn't fare well for Billy & Tommy here, I'm assuming we're still getting a Young Avengers team. After all, between America's powers and Kang's time-traveling, the team's membership has multiple ways of tracking down some version of the twins.
I could see it being that they just skip over the fantastic four and use there 838 deaths as an inciting incident for there children. Especially because, If I recall, Kang in the comics is a Richards descendant.
The part where wanda said the "hex was easy, lying was hard" didn't meant that she was lying to vision it meant that she was having a hard time lying to strange. At least that's what I have gotten.
Xavier says to Stephen: "Just becaue someone stumbles... loses their way... doesn't mean they're lost forever" which is exactly what he said to his younger self in DoFP.
The first time Wanda dreamwalks to see her kids (the "I want more ice cream scene"), the cartoon playing on the TV is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Oswald was Walt Disney's original creation, but he lost the rights to Universal, and had to create the character of Mickey Mouse so that he could keep making cartoons. Disney re-aqcuired the rights in 2006, which is why they could use the short in this movie. It was a quick symbol to show that this was a universe that was familiar, but where slightly different decisions had been made. EDIT: It might also be foreshadowing to a number of the members of the Illuminati being characters the MCU didn't originally have the rights to.
Small thing; When America kicks rubble down onto the tentacle beast from the crumbling building, the piece shatters into the shape of a star. I think that it's an early hint of very fine (if unintentional) control over her powers
I love how this movie showed that two of the strongest books in magic are just ordinary books. It's the contents that make them so powerful. Light and Dark magic are always present in the universe. All it needs to do is be channelled. And that's what those two books do. Nothing more. Nothing less. I haven't seen Wanda vision. But they treated the Darkhold as if it was the Necronomicon from Evil Dead, a sentient book bound in human flesh, written blood, and powered by the souls of the deceased. But it wasn't that. Just a book of written spells in a fancy case. The books themselves are harmless. It's the contents that are dangerous. As long as the knowledge to use those particular spells exists in some form, the power will always be there. And thanks to Stevens photographic memory, he's now a walking Darkhold.
Just saw the movie today. I actually really liked the more horror-style path they took with this one, but i do have to say it’s becoming a *lot* to keep track of. I feel like there’s almost too many characters now, so it’s becoming hard to connect with them. Glad Strange got his closure, but i really hope they’re not done with Wanda. I really felt like her story was mostly over after Wandavision, but then they added a whole other chapter of her life, so the same could be true after this movie. Guess we will see where they go with it in the coming years
There was this flash of red after the throne at the mountain was being destroyed. I assume Wanda did something, transported herself or something. I don’t think she meant to kill herself, but just to destroy the dark hold and all the spells on the walls.
@@Sara-ik5po Or she is dead, and Agatha got set free of her spell. And remaining energies of the darkhold would use their possessors(Agatha and Strange and more) to revive the Scarlet Witch later.
In the movie when Steven and Christine are in the reality that's been destroyed by the incursion (seen in your breakdown at 26:41 ) you can see Sam Raimi's Oldsmobile Delta 88 that can be seen in many of his movies floating and twisting in a static position.
It was such a freaking cool movie. I love every Sam Raimi easter egg that was in the movie. By the way, during the chat between Christine and Strange in the streets from the universe of evil Strange, you can spot on one of the scenes, the Oldsmobile Delta from every movie of Sam Raimi! (And the car of Ash from Evil Dead, of course)
I think that in wandavision wanda didn't completely know that she had rewrriten the reality of an whole town with actual people in it. Her consciousness knew to some extend that the whole thing wasn't real and was created by her but she decided to ignore that and believe what she wanted to because of which she didn't believe she was hurting people until she came out of the hex because of the missile. But even after that she wanted to and continued living in the false belief that she was not hurting people because she had sacrificed a lot more and deserved this. But vision brought out the side of her consciousness which knew she was hurting others. We see the same thing happen in multiverse of madness as without vision the dark hold had consumed her and again brought out the side which believed she had made many sacrifices and should be with her kids without caring about hurting other people. The dark hold to some extent knew that wanda wasn't completely evil and would not do this if she had actually realised what she was doing, so the evil of the dark hold reassured her by keeping on saying that she wasn't a monster. Until she met the wanda of another universe which like vision made her aware of her good side
I think it was more that she didn't think how horrible what she was doing really was through. She felt like she was playing house with life-sized Barbies at first. By the time she started thinking it through she was already in too deep and just let herself go with the illusion because the lie was the life she wanted
Ashes's car from Evil Dead is floating in the evil dr. Stange reality and the post credit scene with Bruce Campbell shows a fork sticking up which was the same one he used in Army of Darkness to kill the mini Ashes running around
Great movie! One thing worth mentioning is that 838 Strange had a blue Cloak of Levitation, as held by Reed Richards on their Titan. 616 Strange's damaged red cloak was later patched up with a blue piece. So, I am deeply saddened that somewhere in Earth 838 is Strange's blue cloak flying around with a hole in it. :-(
Actually I don’t think Wanda meant to create the Westview hex, but she did know that she caused it. Whereas after studying the dark hold, she could do it on purpose. Also, she probably calls it a hex cause she’s a witch. Don’t know if she even knew that’s what Darcy called it.
I loved how defender strange mentions that America's sacrifice will benefit the multiverse similar to what strange says about the villains in No Way Home. He refuses to kill America showing what he learned from Peter Parker.
In the fight between Strange and 838 Mordo, there's a callback to Strange training w/Mordo in the 1st Strange movie. Strange exits the trench where he's fighting 838 Mordo using fancy footwork, and Mordo could easily do the same IF Mordo had the Vaulting Boots of Valtorr like he did in the 1st movie, as seen when Strange trains with Mordo. In that scene in the 1st Strange movie, Mordo tells Stephen, "Trust your teacher" (meaning, the ancient one). Stephen's escape from the trench in this movie shows that he did trust Mordo as a teacher, at least, he learned a thing or two from Mordo, which gives him an advantage over 838 Mordo, like a "the student becomes the master" type of thing. Stephen goes on to learn a thing or two about himself by trusting 838 Christine and America.
11:58 pretty sure the "hex was easy, lying is hard" line refers to her keeping up the illusion of the orchard (the hex, as in an actual spell) while she was talking to Strange, and then her acting like she doesn't know who America is/much about the multiverse (the lie). Strange catches her lying when she slips and mentions America's name before Strange did. Right? Still a great video tho cannot emphasize that enough!
I think she meant lying to herself that it was real. She wanted to believe it was real, but there's moments in every episode when it breaks and you can see that she knows she's lying to herself. People lie to themselves all of the time, mostly about little things, like "diet starts tomorrow!" but that was a big one.
I was hoping they'd do a reference to the Scarlet Witch being Magneto's daughter, etc, when Xavier went into her mind but I guess the MCU isn't ready for all that yet
Glad I got to meet Sean Chandler. My movie thoughts: Visuals and horror theme are stunning. Character performances were great, Chavez was a great addition. Humor, writing, pace were out of place. Sam raimi knocked it out of the park 8/10. The ending threw me off. I was like "holy shit what the fuck". I still have nightmares. We all agree: Wanda is a fucking SAVAGE! She tore through the Illuminati like a knife through a stick of butter. This movie was SCARY AND GORY! I LOVED IT!
You have to imagine this whole movie is one big Nexus event. But because of the events of Loki there's no one there to prune the timeline. I mean Scarlet Witch went to another universe and killed several prominent beings of that universe. That alone is a major nexus event

The problem is probably that Sylvie is still writing kangs page's mr.Eery.
One Easter egg you missed was Xavier was talking to strange while they were under attack. He said, "someone may stumble and lose their way, but it doesn't mean their lost forever. " He said that to his younger self in day's of future past.

Anyone else remember when Strange says he has “Photographic Memory”….. even though Wanda destroyed the DarkHold in every universe Strange literally has it photographed in his memory. So all I can imagine is the next film involving Strange will be others going after him to try and get that power since he may be the only one to actually have it memorized 🤷🏼♂️
This kinda made strange overpowered
Only if Strange looked through the entire Darkhold and not only through the pages he needed.

I think there were two fourth wall breaks - both with characters looking straight into the camera.
The first was when 616 Wanda had possessed her 838 counterpart and she looked into the camera as if to say 'I'm in control now.'
Secondly, in the final post credits scene, Bruce Campbell's Pizza Poppa looks straight at the audience when shouting 'It's over!'
That was the attitude Wanda conveyed but it wasn't an acknowledgment of the audience so not really a 4th wall break but close. Bruce's totally was 4th wall
I think Bruce's 4th Wall break was a quick nod to Ferris Beuller and Deadpool.
best post credits scene ever. worth it.
My son just told me of this term recently
Professor X even looked at the camera a little when he first entered Wanda’s mind.

Yesss! The Bruce Campbell cameo was expected for me cause of his history with Sam Raimi and the Spider-Man cameos, but as a lover of Evil Dead, I was even happier & surprised when his cameo involved his hand being possessed to beat himself up
Let’s be honest, though: if you were hitting yourself for three weeks, you’d be a bloody mess.
I came here JUST to say this.
Bruce hitting himself with his own possesed hand I pointed to the screen like OOOOH OOOOH OOOH! I’m the only one! Wtf!
exactly! and that thing with Black Bolt's mouth reminded me of Evil Dead too. If I'm not mistaken, the disappearing mouth happens briefly to Ash in one of the movies. Army of Darkness, I think?
I know Wandas arc may be upsetting to some of her fans and I genuinely respect that, but I would be lying if Wanda and her story didn't just turn into the most interesting character of the entire MCU for me because of the new direction
This is so GOOD because it involves so many different elements like dark magic/ witchcraft, her family and heroism while being destined for evil.
Not to mention her acting in this movie was such a treat to watch.
I'm okay with her being a villain, what I'm not okay with is her always being manipulated or out of control. It kinda softens the whole impetus for me
thats the beauty>Strange could eventually be her redemption.

Hi Ryan. Great video. Just want to add a couple of easter eggs that you missed:
You know Hong Kong is IN China right?
I loved that Black Bolt's one line in the movie was whispering "I'm sorry." It wasn't Anson Mounts fault that the inhumans was a terrible show. They should have cast Chris pine as Reed Richards. Then, they could have had Captain Pike, Kirk and Picard in one room.
I know, right? Yes the Inhumans wasn't great but how fun to see two Enterprise captains together? If Kirk joined them they could've saved Wanda.
And when Wanda uses her powers, everyone turns into a red shirt 🤣.
And Thor could show up and say hi to his son.

I didnt know they extended contract but when I saw the red burst I knew she went somewhere else.
@@Silverobots true, I mean, yeah that was a big boulder of rocks but seeing Wanda deflects the Eldritch Magic in Kamar Taj, she probably survived it.
Yaaaaaaaaassssss Witch.
Then they meet/regroup and accidentally go to the future.
or maybe that was Marvels way of telling us that they won't be doing a modern F4
@@stevenyoung9473 interesting
@@stevenyoung9473 Based on what Jon Watts was Pitching, He wanted the F4 to be set in the 60s and then get trapped in the Negative Zone battling Annihilus or somewhere else but since he left direction the movie could go either ways
@@quzar3291 that already sounds dope

The best outcome would be getting John to star in the F4 movie and also letting him direct it so he can come onboard without amy hesitation
Here's one that blew my mind (even if it wasn't on purpose):
During the boys' ice cream song, there is a 30's-era Mickey Mouse cartoon playing on the TV over their shoulder.
Although, something someone didny mention:
When ultron says: "ultron commands you to stop" or sum, snd repeats it.
Bite me!
Only for em to get killed a few minutes later
Just realizing that when Strange gave up the time stone, the sequence he was enabling specifically took him out of the fight until someone else figured out time travel and defeated Thanos. IE, he was not insisting on holding the knife there - literally choosing non-existence and depending on others to save him.
The Darkhold was presented in the underrated and sadly ignored Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Damn, what a great show. Even if not canon, it's still worth a shot for every MCU fan, 'cause every season was lined up with the movies events.
Loved agents of shield truly underrated
Yes, featuring Ghost Rider. AOS is so underrated that they have this FITZSIMMONS love team. Their love story is greater than every romantic movies. HAHA
YES! I was surprised he didn't mention this in the video. I was really hoping for a Ghost Rider cameo in the movie.
This movie proves AoS is canon in the MCU.
When Wanda said ‘I opened the Darkhold, now I have to be the one to close it’ and sacrificed herself to fix what she caused after a realization without any fist-fighting reminded me of ‘Spider-man 2’ when Doctor Octopus sacrificed himself saying something similar.
Apologies if someone has already mentioned this in the comments but I'm fairly certain 838 Christine repaired 616 Strange's cloak with 838 Strange's; Reed Richards is holding the blue cloak of levitation during the flashback projected by Professor X of 838 Strange's death.
yes and as they are both sentient, I have SO MANY QUESTIONS
I took the apple orchard as a reference to Snow White, which is also playing in the Westview scene in the film.
She is the witch, attempting to corrupt Strange with a poisoned apple - bring America to her and reality will be safe.
I believe the reason Stephen's thrid eye appears and why the Darkhold lives on within him is due to his photographic memory.
I concur. Because the Ancient One pointed that out when she "smacked the soul" out of him...
All this drama could have been avoided if Strange had called Hawkeye to give a little lecture to Wanda
Or maybe if he had never given a little lecture
@@nsomandin5342 maybe😁
That's a good one!
@@ceasj23 that wasn’t her fighting the illuminati tho she was possessed by our wanda 💀
Precisely my thought.
And the good Wanda that the Scarlet Witch possessed was already super lethal and strong power-wise (it was her power that rampaged the Illuminati 😬).
Imagine if she wishes to do right, make up for the brutality, and take over as hero Wanda again.
@@treysniper True. 616 Scarlet Witch somehow unlocked her true power when she possessed 863(?) Wanda.
@@animo358 Kang is a descendant of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom!
Just watched it , this movie was sick dude went in with no spoilers enjoyed every moment 💪
I loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND of this movie. I adore it. Watching it for the third time today. I absolutely love it.
Three times 😭
Groovy
Ehm… good for you? I honestly didn’t love it
I'm seeing it for the second time later today.
Definitely going to see it again
That's some obscure sh** right there! Props from Walt's childhood town in MO.
Small thing; When America kicks rubble down onto the tentacle beast from the crumbling building, the piece shatters into the shape of a star. I think that it's an early hint of very fine (if unintentional) control over her powers
I was so worried for Cowman. He just does not look very quick on his feet or hooves. Or whatever
I loved the movie so much, Sam Reymi did a great job, especially the way it was filmed
*Raimi
Just saw the movie today. I actually really liked the more horror-style path they took with this one, but i do have to say it’s becoming a *lot* to keep track of. I feel like there’s almost too many characters now, so it’s becoming hard to connect with them. Glad Strange got his closure, but i really hope they’re not done with Wanda. I really felt like her story was mostly over after Wandavision, but then they added a whole other chapter of her life, so the same could be true after this movie. Guess we will see where they go with it in the coming years
Too many characters lmfao its based on a comic book with thousands of characters it's gonna happen
it is not okay put too much horror scene in the film, this is scifi not horror, i hate how sam put so much horror scene on this movie...
There was this flash of red after the throne at the mountain was being destroyed. I assume Wanda did something, transported herself or something. I don’t think she meant to kill herself, but just to destroy the dark hold and all the spells on the walls.
*laughs in 80s Marvel 1000 character poster*
@@Sara-ik5po Or she is dead, and Agatha got set free of her spell. And remaining energies of the darkhold would use their possessors(Agatha and Strange and more) to revive the Scarlet Witch later.
In the movie when Steven and Christine are in the reality that's been destroyed by the incursion (seen in your breakdown at 26:41 ) you can see Sam Raimi's Oldsmobile Delta 88 that can be seen in many of his movies floating and twisting in a static position.
I thought so..
I came here to comment this. That was a major Easter egg and I got so excited in the theater when I saw it!
Reed Richards' teleportation fx looks extremely near to a TVA door, it could be a really really early version of a time door being just a space door.
Remember the connection between Kang and Mr fantastic
Great movie! One thing worth mentioning is that 838 Strange had a blue Cloak of Levitation, as held by Reed Richards on their Titan. 616 Strange's damaged red cloak was later patched up with a blue piece. So, I am deeply saddened that somewhere in Earth 838 is Strange's blue cloak flying around with a hole in it. :-(
I doubt it. The cloak of levitation chooses its sorcerer. It’s sentient so it will find another companion don’t worry :)
@@jakeman025 The point I was making was that it now has a hole in it.
Assuming it is still around and not just destroyed and cannibalized for 616 Strange's cloak
@@AdiAfendi yup and I’m saying as long as it’s still sentient it will choose another sorcerer and that person will patch up the hole no doubt.
Actually I don’t think Wanda meant to create the Westview hex, but she did know that she caused it. Whereas after studying the dark hold, she could do it on purpose. Also, she probably calls it a hex cause she’s a witch. Don’t know if she even knew that’s what Darcy called it.
At the end when Clea appears and opens a portal, I thought it looked like the same dark space that Dormarmu lives.
I loved how defender strange mentions that America's sacrifice will benefit the multiverse similar to what strange says about the villains in No Way Home. He refuses to kill America showing what he learned from Peter Parker.
If you look closely, in the pipe universe there is Stark Drone roaming around. Maybe somekind of Superior Ironman universe?
I like how Reed's teleporter is fairly similar to the TVA's since Kang is his descendant
Kang is his grandson right?

That was my impression also
My thoughts exactly.
I think she meant lying to herself that it was real. She wanted to believe it was real, but there's moments in every episode when it breaks and you can see that she knows she's lying to herself. People lie to themselves all of the time, mostly about little things, like "diet starts tomorrow!" but that was a big one.
This is correct
@@fracturedfingers no she definitely was talking about the orchard. The topic of Westview was dropped entirely in that conversation
In the first movie strange said he has a photographic memory. What if he can still use the darkhold because it's still imprinted in his mind?
If he needs a spell from it that detail will be conveniently recalled.
I was hoping they'd do a reference to the Scarlet Witch being Magneto's daughter, etc, when Xavier went into her mind but I guess the MCU isn't ready for all that yet
Exactly
Glad I got to meet Sean Chandler. My movie thoughts:

You have to imagine this whole movie is one big Nexus event. But because of the events of Loki there's no one there to prune the timeline. I mean Scarlet Witch went to another universe and killed several prominent beings of that universe. That alone is a major nexus event
