Jessica Williams was an interesting pianist. Quite underrated as a player, and interestingly was a trans woman playing jazz which of course may have limited her success in the mainstream. And most of her life she was on the west coast. But she had several good recordings. unfortunately health issues severely limited her ability to play in her later years and she died in 2022.
Thanks again for the updates, Dereck. I have CDr's I burned more than 25 years ago and they all play just fine. As long as you keep them in cool, dry, dark conditions in a box away from a heat source or whatever they likely will outlast us. I only had one or two maybe go bad out of thousands, but those were outliers. Funnily I was just listening to Melody Nelson and some other Gainsbourg the other day, and I don't really listen to him that much. Ironically it was because I had a very old 20+ year old CDR of Gainsbourg that I wanted to change the selections and track listings and reburn it. Don't know if you mentioned it in any of your earlier vids, but Jane Birkin just died this past summer.
Appreciate your honesty as always, Dereck! The collaboration arose from a series of concerts we all did together around the same time, but it was quite an intense studio session where I think we only wanted to capture this feeling in an improvisational setting (unlike Theme, generally) and do something as full-on as Whitehouse but with different instrumentation. I think it works, but it's a one-off. I guess we were all slightly frazzled as well. The concert we played in Budapest even saw JhP running into an audience (let in to the venue for a club night before our gig had finished) with a chainsaw at one point, so I think that exemplified the mood at play here.
Well the "educated bunch" was always a minority anyways. It's just that the people with a populist view of the world (usually idealizing conformism) have a stronger voice now because of social medias. I think educated people will still thrive in some corners and share and discuss the creativity that the mainstream is not interested in (which is: most creative outputs).
Good news about Inner Image...as you may of heard, Canada Post went on strike today...hopefully, they are back to work before you release the CD ...Regardless, I will definitely order one...cheers
I've always balked at getting that Sakamoto "cover" album, but I may stream it now based on your reaction. We on the Guncles channel will have a video reviewing the album Bubble Gum by the Dutch band De Staat. It's an excellent album expressing anarchism and nihilism in a really cool manner. The opening track, Kitty Kitty, was a response to Trump's first term (the album was released in 2019). I love the militaristic beat to the song Mona Lisa and the joy of the voice singing how he'll "wait for you to fall apart" - "I'll be dancing by the fire, fire, I'll be dancing while you burn the house down." And the rebellion in the song "I'm Out of Your Mind," with the singer calling out the powers that be for "call me out of my mind, no, no, I'm out of your mind." Anyway, undoubtedly you know of De Statt as you're exposure to music is incredible. But I'll ask anyway, lol, are you familiar with the Dutch band De Staat?
Tinnitus...I hear you. Same here. Had my hearing checked...no real loss. Must've had it tested on a good day. I am 66, playing drums in rock bands for about 50 years. I hope RFK, Jr does us right. Nobody even knows who the current HHS Secretary is. What has current HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra done for the public? What are his qualifications? We need transparency, truth, accountability…something we have not had over the last 4 years. His appointment will bring debate and sunlight on the corrupt bureaucracy. Cheers!
Xavier is the former AG of the largest law firm in the country. Also a lifetime public servant. Loads and loads of managerial experience and a logical thinker, trusted by his peers. RFK is a vaccine denier. Literally the worst qualification one can possess in that role. He’s bananas.
@@darladoon yeah RFJ Jr. is deeply underqualified and even anti-qualified for the role, not just compared to Xavier Becerra but compared to almost any medical doctor or public servant you could pick lol
Love the idea of the bonus track on compact disc. ☕ have a good weekend

Well you know, I have to be frank.
@@dereckvon Stand by it myself!
It has its' own relevance.
@@dereckvon I mean I stand by the idea of being frank! The MLP might've been something else given more time and less stress, but we were pissed off.
Sounds like it.
Very cool about the Inner Image cd.
Hello Derreck, Serge Gainsbourg has a very nice reggae album , he did with the Wailers... cheers ✌️
