Another great video! I’m always amazed at how fantastic your English is, for someone who learned it growing up I’m Germany. I mean, that dialect & slang is spot on perfect. Bravo!
Shenandoah is extremely beautiful. Skyline Drive is something to be experienced at least once. I haven't driven through it in the fall, but it must be amazing with the leaves changing colors. That entire area is so peaceful. Being away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, it's almost like time slows down.
You have such a great smile! Glad you enjoyed the trip. Sounds pretty cool. Fun to see places through others eyes that have never been too. Luck for car lasting long!
This looks like an awesome roadtrip for you and your friend. Too often when people come to the US for the first time they end up in either NYC, Orlando, FL or LA. With this trip, your friend got to see part of Midwest, upstate New York, East Coast and Northern Virginia in the mountains. As well as all the area in between. That allows her to see the many topogrophical differences as well as experience cultural differences. It gives her a better oversight into America than just time in a large city or theme park. Hopefully she can come back and visit you again after this pandemic is over.
FELI!!! So glad you posted this video! Please bring as many of your friends as will join you! I grew up in Virginia and prior to moving to Arizona (you have to come visit here too!) spent many wonderful days in the Appalachians and even visited that very store you show in Ft. Valley. Great to see things from another point of view, hope Veronica had a great trip too!
Looks like you two had a good trip. It’s nice that you could show your old friend the sights. And Shenandoah is beautiful, a nice change of pace after the city.
13:19 is basically where I grew up! I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and I used to walk and ride my bike up to the Skyline Drive from my childhood home.
Felicia, I enjoyed these latest videos. Really like the vlog style and you seem to be a natural at it. Would truly enjoy more videos in this style. So many places to be explored.
Hope you enjoyed the East Coast! Lots of cool things to do and see, and lots of beautiful places to relax, like the Shenandoah Valley and the surrounding mountains. If you can get past the traffic, it's a great place to be!
Feli turning heads wherever she goes. Love this vlog. Been to all of those places. Shenandoah is our favorite place for camping. It has some wonderful hiking paths, and of course, there is Skyline Drive.
I love Cincinnati too(lived right across the river in Kentucky), just the right size. Wait until you check out the West and SouthWest...you will then realize it will take you more than a lifetime to see it all. I stayed in Brooklyn for six months and yes too packed and too expensive, missed the midwest eventually. One thing I noticed about Germans is they love the remote and nature areas of the US.
Guten abend! I just wish that it was summertime here in the states. I miss the late night drinks outside, all of the swimming, the cruising with the windows down, and even mowing my lawn haha. I'm glad you ladies had fun though!
A few thoughts: I've been to Niagara Falls numerous times because I pass through there on my way to Toronto. Like yourself, I live in Ohio (Columbus area). It usually takes me about 5 1/2 to 6 hours to reach Niagara falls from my home. Your choice of a Toyota is a good one. Take care of it and it could last another 200,000 miles. I have a friend who has over 400,000 miles on his. Find out if it has a timing chain or a timing belt. What's the difference? A timing belt needs replaced about every 70,000 miles. A timing chain and you' re probably set for the life of the car. Believe it or not, when John Denver wrote the song "Take Me Home Country Roads" in 1970, he had never been to West Virginia. I saw him in concert three times before he died in 1997.
I'm glad you found Ft. Valley in the Shenandoah. Not many people other than locals know about it as it lies between two arms of the Massanutten Mountain in the midst of Shenandoah Valley. The Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and West Virginia probably remind you of Bavaria. When I first traveled to Austria and Southern Germany, I felt like I was right at home because the mountains seemed so similar.
I never did understand the layout of the Brooklyn Bridge - now I understand it. It was quite clever to separate pedestrians from vehicles, way ahead of its time.
I'm super surprised and happy that you managed to find Fort Valley, Virginia. It's part of a hidden gem in Shenandoah. While most people do Skyline Drive, you can avoid the traffic, especially in autumn, by driving through Fort Valley instead. At the southern end is the Massanutten Storybook Trail Overlook, which has an absolutely fantastic view out over the mountain ridges to the east and the valley below.
I love your reviews of the US and the comparisons to Germany. I’ve been over to Germany twice now and love it. Hoping someday I can afford to visit annually or move there, but until then I’ll be watching your videos and practicing my German!
Oh I miss New York City ❤️ I used to go to the Village and Times Square areas regularly and since Covid I haven’t been there since December of 2019. Thanks for the memories 😊 I wouldn’t want to live there either though lol
I live about an hour away from where you guys stayed in Virginia. Skyline drive and the whole Shenandoah valley is so beautiful and I’m glad you guys decided to visit it!
Kudos to you on pronouncing Niagara Falls correctly! I had a German friend who is fluent in English come and visit and I was excited to take him there. He kept calling it "Nee-a-gara" Falls. I had to prove to him that's not how it is pronounced. The whole trip we argued. Now we laugh and I still tease him. We call that an "inside joke" in English. You picked some great places to take your friend. Tschuss!
Love those country roads. We don't live too far from Shenandoah ourselves. Yes, the John Denver song is about West Virginia, but only because the name West Virginia fit better in the song than any other name. He was actually in suburban Washington, D.C. when he wrote the lyrics! Clopper Rd, I believe; right near where we have some family.
If you take another trip, you should totally go to Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. They're only an hour apart, and they're both such awesome examples of the American South. Savannah is an absolute blast. Most beautiful small cities in the USA, in my opinion. Nowhere else even comes close.
Great vlog, sounds like you two had good time and even better made some good memories. I don't know why but I love Niagara Falls, always impressed with Horseshoe Falls and all that water flowing over it. Hopefully you did the Journey behind the falls a really impressive view from below the rim of the falls. Next time you go home make a vlog of Munich for your UA-cam fans.
Hey Felicia... Dein Freund ist wunderschön... great trip. I know all those places and they are fantastic. One advice, whenever you have a chance....go West! the West of the US is... a religious experience. Utah, California, Arizona, etc.. don't miss that chance to see the West.
Congrats on the car! Such a great feeling. You probably know this, but as a friendly reminder just keep up with the oil+oil filter changes and make sure your tires are the best you can afford. If that Matrix was maintained it'll serve you problem-free for another 50-100k miles. The car looks good from what I saw. Seems garaged. They're extremely reliable little cars. It also has a timing chain, so no expensive belt service for you! Oh, and be sure to check the oil levels regularly on level ground before a cold start. You'll notice if its consuming oil. Losing a quart or even two between oil changes is acceptable given the car's age and mileage. Any clunking at low speeds as you turn the wheel needs immediate diagnosing, and to a lesser degree any whirring noise at speed should also be treated with utmost suspicion. These types of noises can indicate a hazardous problem with the suspension. I assume you got it inspected professionally, so sorry if this is condescending. Lastly, beware of the stealerships. Cheers :)
Wow, that was a lot of fun watching you and your friend take that trip. Love adventures and when there's someone who's neve been to any of the places it's great to see reactions or comments. Good stuff as always. Keep doing what you do so well and..... STAY GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Felicia, Did they tell you abut the tunnels under the falls? Went there back in the 1970's(Showing my age) and you could go into the tunnels and see the falls from the back side. Amazing and scary at the same time.
Thanks for sharing your road trip. If ever in Wisconsin. Milwaukee has Summerfest for great music and there’s Wisconsin Dells as well. It’s the water park capital.
If she comes to Milwaukee I recommend Ubering straight to Summerfest, having fun, and Ubering straight back to the airport. She doesn't seem like the type that would be packing a hip buddy so she needs to leave ASAP. I left that violent city after seven years and never left the house without the Glock on my hip. Didn't even go out to the garage without it. That place is out of control. The cops need to step up their game a shit ton. It's a very ''dark'' city if you know what I mean. very ''dark'' and very violent.
I understand it's a long drive, but you should check out Mount Washington in New Hampshire, (kinda a tourist trap), it's the tallest mountain and probably most unique in the northeast (has strange weather with hurricane force winds sometimes being recorded there), and a few ski resorts in New Hampshire too, like Mount Sunapee. Also I loved the video and your friend's reaction, because it was fairly accurate to how the American culture really was. I also loved that she said that Boston fashion is chic because since I'm used to it I haven't noticed the fashion as being chic
Wow Felicia, great job. You have become a really good editor and made a great video showing us how much fun you had last September. And I'd forgotten how wonderful your smile is until I got to see it again today! You have the brightest smile on UA-cam. :-) We gotta get you a better car though - a 13 year old Toyota just won't do!
Thank you!! Oh it's absolutely enough for me :) I didn't wanna spend a lot of money on a car. As long as it drives me where I need to go and has working AC/heating I'm fine with it.
@@FelifromGermany Alright, if you like it then it'll do for now eh... By the way I forgot to say I love your shout out to Country Roads by John Denver! I play it every time I cross the Ohio into WV. @@FelifromGermany congratulations on the car! We just bought a pair of used Santa Fe's from Mark Sweeney. We liked the first one so much, went back for the other one. They are an awesome dealer, it was worth the 2 hour drives to go there.

Owning a car gives a person a larger sense of freedom, probably because the country is so big and with a car it is so much easier to just pack up and travel in a moment's notice. I own a car a large SUV and 3 pickup trucks, don't ask me why but somehow I manage to drive them all Lol... growing up my parents would take our family in a big RV on cross country road trip vacations that would last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks and would usually go from Idaho back to Washington DC, New York, Pennsylvania etc... then to California. @@kye3k1 Yes, the US is such a big country, so it's normal here for someone to travel an 1 hour or more to a different city or a different state depending how close you live to the border.
My wife and I drove down Skyline two summers ago. We stopped to look at a black bear which decided to climb onto the hood of our car. It was pretty cool.
Niagara falls is like the guilty Ohioan vacation no one talks about haha. As it generally has the exact same weather as us and it's what most of us would consider a reasonable distance to drive to for the weekend. Also you can get there without having to go to Michigan which is another plus.
Aww you were not far from me since I live near the brooklyn bridge. I hope you had a wonderful time in NYC as well as your friend especially her coming to the states for the first time :)
Looks like a fun trip, Feli! Yes, the northeastern US can be very expensive. You chose well to live in the Midwest. Your Matrix should last a while but remember to take care of it (I'll bet I sound like your Father). I hope Veronica had a nice time in the US (and I don't understand why Wal-Mart uses so many plastic grocery bags either). You should consider visiting the American Bourbon Trail (Louisville/Lexington area). We'll be there Memorial Day weekend. Come say hi!
nice, great trip!. im only 1.5 hours from boston and 2 hours from NYC, been there many times to both. i missed the VA shenandoah NP when i drove to my cousins in NC due to my time crunch driving back to CT. i drove almost 2600 miles in 1 week. can't wait to see more vids.
I normally visit family in NYC at least once a year. I liked Top of the Rock better than the Empire State building because it was less crowded. The line was MUCH shorter and the view just as good. I haven't been to the Freedom Tower and probably won't.
Back when I loved in Washington, DC, I drove the Blue Ridge Parkway (the same road as Skyline Dr, once you are south of I-64). I drove it from Roanoke, Va. to I-64, and it was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on in the U.S.! I hope that was the same for you and your friend through Shenandoah National Park too. I did my drive in October, just as the leaves were turning and the weather was getting colder. But as far as the most beautiful drive I've ever been on, that would be a drive into Yellowstone National Park from Billings, Mt. It comes into the Northeast entrance, and is known as Beartooth Hwy. I have some footage of it from mounting my phone onto my windshield, but no way to post it here. I highly recommend that drive if you ever make it out to Yellowstone!
The Canadian side is EXTREMELY tourist trap with things that have nothing to do with the Falls. and well out of sight of the falls. But they are fun. They also have only one spot to stand next to the falls though they can see a full view of the American falls across the way. New York is WAY less touristy but still has some tourist trap stuff unrelated to the falls plus foreign tour bus crowds. But they have 4 places to stand next to the falls (both sides American Falls, plus Bridal Veil Falls, &Horseshoe Falls) Two places on New York side let you walk to the base of falls (Bridal Veil and American Falls on the north edge) PLUS New York has beautiful Goat Island where you can walk along the rapids and even wade in them at the three sisters location (illegal but all do it), and both U.S. and Canada can ride the Maid of the Mist boat. New York has a beautiful gorge trail running a long ways north and also a beautiful state park where the river drains into Lake Ontario, plus a large 17th century fort nearby to tour,
FYI. In the original movie , the first one, Final Destination. When ever something bad about to happen, you would hear a John Denver song in the background.
Veronica enjoyed a most excellent time I hope. You really desired her to see in a short time a lot of the Northeast. If you have not been to Atlanta, GA and spent several days there you should. Even though a big city it is, it is an entirely different feel from the Northeastern cities. Love your posts! Danke... :-)
Your English is very nearly perfect. Almost no accent. Did you learn it as a 2nd language as you were growing up? Having said that, I was surprised to hear you pronounce Greenwich Village "Green-witch", instead of "Gren-ich" - twice! NOW your English is perfect. :) Thanks for sharing your impressions of the U.S.; I always find it interesting to hear how foreigners view us. As I'm sure others have already pointed out, your impressions will no doubt change as you travel around the country, if you have the opportunity. Having been raised in CA, and also lived in Hawaii, Texas, Tennessee and Michigan, I can tell you that there are differences in many aspects of life depending on where you are.
Did you happen to drive out to Niagara-on-the-Lake? Lovely old style town down river from the falls. There are also a number of very good wineries in that area.
Glad to see you like thee East Coast. Love New York, never been to Boston. And if you like doing outdoor activities the George Washington National Forrest in Virginia is really good as well as the Shenandoah. Love your videos.

I love it! You let me be an "armchair traveler" with you! Thanks it was fun!🤩
Going from New York City to the Shenandoah National Park, what a contrast.
I can't believe you were in Boston! I live just 50 minutes west of Boston in the central part of Massachusetts! Glad you liked Boston!
50 minutes in the UK is an entirely different part of the country yet in the US that's local. Kinda crazy.
@@kye3k1 Yes, the US is such a big country, so it's normal here for someone to travel an 1 hour or more to a different city or a different state depending how close you live to the border.
Oh you already came and left Boston, my hometown was the only thing I was interested in seeing. Have a good trip.
My wife and I drove down Skyline two summers ago. We stopped to look at a black bear which decided to climb onto the hood of our car. It was pretty cool.
Beautiful scenery and more beautiful girl ^ ^
You seem unenthused by the Appalachian chain, which only makes sense, but I remember going gaga for Skyline Drive when I was nine.
Scotty kilmer would be proud of your car choice. He has the exact same one
Expensive for Boston and NYC? Yep! You likely passed through Connecticut at some point. It sucks here sometimes. Glad you made it home! 😊❤️🌹
Niagara falls is like the guilty Ohioan vacation no one talks about haha. As it generally has the exact same weather as us and it's what most of us would consider a reasonable distance to drive to for the weekend. Also you can get there without having to go to Michigan which is another plus.
Sounds like a beret trip! Glad you enjoyed yourselves!
Yay for a visit to Canada too 🇨🇦
Aww you were not far from me since I live near the brooklyn bridge.
Such an infectious smile.
Check your oil regularly. A used car with high mileage may use more oil than expected.
Good to see you posting videos again!
Lovely adventure!! Thanks for sharing your vacation!!
Glad that you went to the Canadian side, also.
A German girl driving a Japanese car in America, can’t get more international than that.
Professor Shibe lol
The only way to be more international would be to be eating a Taco, French Fries and an Egg Roll in her Japanese car.
New York has a beautiful gorge trail running a long ways north and also a beautiful state park where the river drains into Lake Ontario, plus a large 17th century fort nearby to tour,
Whoa! Surprised to see you were in my little hometown in West Virginia. Don't worry, I was *not* the guy who left his car running at Taco Bell. 😁
Danke... :-)
You should take a road trip out to Colorado and listen to John Denver's other song, Rocky Mountain High. Come out to Oregon too.
Make your way out to Chicago in the summer with your friends and get a charter boat for a few hours
Looks like a fun trip. September is a good time to visit NYC. Come to NJ and visit the beaches.
Beaches are the most boring thing of all, we need sceenery, some hills, some mountains, some caves, some cities.
What a stunner.
Did you happen to drive out to Niagara-on-the-Lake? Lovely old style town down river from the falls. There are also a number of very good wineries in that area.
Great video when we went to Niagara Falls everyone one had Blue ponchos.
She visited them from the canadian side ;-).
Glad to see you like thee East Coast. Love New York, never been to Boston. And if you like doing outdoor activities the George Washington National Forrest in Virginia is really good as well as the Shenandoah. Love your videos.
The shanandoah vally
oh〜so nice, loving this vlog!!!!
