Although there are different methods of seam ripping but the basic method is usually for you to insert the sharp tip of the seam ripper between the thread and the fabric and gently pull upward to cut the thread. The red dot will be underneath the stitches while the sharp tip is on top of the fabric for straight ripping. If you want to rip stitches on pockets, flaps, plackets, collars and lots of other outer stitches, use the sharp tip to gently pull the thread and cut, repeat the process to avoid it being torn.
