I understand why the Buckeyes got a qb in the portal when McCord left, but it isn't hard to win the job when all your returning quarterbacks are just ok and you have two inexperienced, true freshmen as the alternative! Kyle McCord is more accurate with better upside than Will Howard. Anybody saying that this is an upgrade is just a diehard fan of Ohio State. I was surprised with all the available quarterbacks in the portal that this is the one they landed.
From a 50+ year Buckeye Fan here (!) - Will Howard is a 110% > definite upgrade !!! --- You will see it. His size strength and speed + ability to extend plays - McCord didn't have. A bit of extra time for those fabulous WR's - to separate - will be a game changer ! + He can run to move the chains too !!! ( McCord offered none of that ? ) - - - He played with 2 & 3* players at KS. > Now -- he is surrounded by NFL talent ! 🤗 --?--
let's not forget McCord was a FRESHMAN! Even though he had the job you can't forget the freshman inexperience. Plus the kid was still getting wins. Were they pretty? Maybe not so much but he got the job done. If you watched will Howard he's solid all around! My only worry is the big moments he's gonna be facing with last drives where that elite QB status will need to come into play. This is solid. He's a good fit. He's smart with the ball for the most part. Let's not forget the coaching staff there at Ohio State! I'm excited to see what's in store this season for the bucks. O-H!
Ryan Day and Chip Kelly don't run the read option. Oregon was a long time ago. They brought in Colin Schlee to be the runner at UCLA last season and didn't even use him.

I think this Ohio State team is a little over hyped. Having said that I believe this will be their best defense ever but they lost a lot in the past 2 years. They lost arguably their best QB ever in Stroud and their best receiver in Harrison Jr. I just don't see the offensive ability to stay with an Oregon team or a good playoff team
@@brettjern3264 I understand that but they have a phenomenal receiving core, the best running back duo in the country, a qb that can run and has experience (5th year senior), and a coordinator who has a history of being able to run the ball with below average offensive lines. Maybe they do lose to Oregon or in the playoffs, but it won’t be because they don’t have the firepower to stay with those teams

Look at Bo Nix with Oregon, and Penix with Washington. They were average at Auburn, and Indiana and turned into stars. All about coaching

The problem with Howard is he is turnover prone. There is a reason why he was losing his starting role to Avery Johnson at K-State.
