Dear Yusuf, my father taught me your song when I was a child. It was his way of explaining the world to me. He passed away last year but I've had the priviledge to say goodbye to him. I said to him that he could go in peace for he has raised well two brothers and he has a wonderful granddaughter. It was the last song I've listened with my father. Thank you so much for this precious gift. Be in peace!

I got to work on this one trying to extend it into all fathers, because my own wasn´t and isn´t that good, and actually after last year me healing even the slightest of his damages, this year he made sure our relationship would now brake again because of the level of insults because he could not take a joke when I told him my sisters and I would now laugh so much because of seeing how in this life you harvest what you sew?... because him being neurotic we had to be like super extra careful with every little thing or the day would break. And now that we have kids, he´s the one having to be careful with that mouth of his. So... today, with the best sons I could wish for, I must at least thank him for giving me the life, even though abandoned young. And at the end of the day... it was with his records that I knew of Cat Stevens. I would spend hours looking at the covers and listening to Cat´s songs since childhood, so that along with many other positives we have to focus on. No doubt we can screw up until our last day on Earth, if life is for learning and we learn from mistakes, I understood we´re prone to make them till that final day.
Happy fathers day to every single father out there, each with their own crosses to bear.

It’s odd yet beautiful how I’ve listened to you sing this as 3 different generations - first as the son, then as the father watching his son grow up (when you remade it with Roman Keating)...and now you’re the loving grandpa watching over his grown son and grandson while you sing this song with a level of wisdom, patience and love you’ve gained over the years.

Along with the Beatles, Cat Stevens is my favorite... Very unique... Saw his concert in Montreal back in the 70's...has lost a little bit of that angst in his voice over the years, but still sounds incredible... ☮💓

50 years.... I am only 29 and yet my mother and father when they were together would always listen to this... After they broke up I only heard my mum ever play it... My dad died 2 months ago and none of his children could attend his funeral because of this virus... Atleast when I listen to this I can hear how my dad loved me... I have 3 kids myself now.. I am old, But I'm happy.... Thanks for singing this again for us Yusuf. You are a light in a very dark world.

Just about every time I put this song on my headphones, and listen to it without distraction, emotions well up inside. My lifelong dream was always to raise a son, and I'm doubly blessed to have two I'm very proud of. But going through the process of them moving on, making big decisions on their own, of me having so much I want to share but trying to avoid over-offering advice, of having been a young boy/man once myself, remembering my own challenges, it all just gets me. Cat Stevens/Yusuf really laid a nice track, I love you sir. I don't know a father of sons that isn't touched by you.
